“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

This Is Water by David Foster Wallace

This video is 9 minutes long, but truly inspirational. If you have some time, I highly recommend watching it.  Bookmark it for another day, share it on Facebook, Pin it, Skype it, do whatever you wish with it, but make sure to watch it sometime in your life.  It doesn't matter if you're in college, high school or an alumni - this video is for everyone.

Author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn't become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we've ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.

Must Watch: Set Fire To The Rain

Some of us get married thinking it will change who we are.  Some of us date girls or boys in high school to make our parents proud, or we don't want them finding out we're gay. Gay people often find themselves in this situation, and the fact that we're so afraid to come out - we hurt a lot of people in the process.  Straight and Gays alike should see this video, especially if you like music and dance.

I know that everyone is tired of hearing about Adele and Whitney, but this is not about them.
Ryan shared this video with me this morning and asked if I had ever posted it on one of my blogs.  I hadn't, so I'm doing it now.  In the music video you have an Adele impersonator, 3 dancers, and a story of a man struggling with his sexuality, while a girl who thought she had everything, is now facing a struggle of her own.  It truly sets fire to the rain.
YouTube: The music video portrays a man struggling with his sexuality, while the girl in love with him fights to hold on as everything she thought she knew comes crashing down before her. The song speaks of a foolish love that's so hard to let go. This theme is not uncommon, most of us have been subjected to this type of unrequited love in some way, shape, or form. Whether gay or straight, single or taken, if you have not experienced this kind of pain, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

Quoted: Angelina Jolie on Guilt

"I don't believe in guilt.  I believe in living on impulse as long as you never intentionally hurt another person and don't judge people in your life.  I think you should live completely free."

I Quote That - Choosing How

"Life is about choice. We are the sum of our choices. And most of them are made for us. You can't choose when you're born. You can't choose where you're born. You can't choose your family. You can't even choose who you love. But you can choose how you love."
- From the comedy/drama, "I Think I Love My Wife"

Where Do You Stand on Regret?

My opinion is that we shouldn't regret things that we did, or do in our lives.  I've always felt that everything happens for a reason and we go through life learning from these things. If I were to regret picking up my first cigarette at 18, or taking my first drink at 22, I wonder where my life would be at this point. It sure wouldn't be where I am now.  If I were to regret ever meeting my previous partner, I would never would have met my beautiful step-daughters.

This topic always takes me back to The Butterfly Effect. The lead character in the movie changed one thing in his life because he wasn't happy with it, in turn disastrous consequences took place - all due to this one thing being changed.   If we were to change one thing in our lives, how different would our lives be today?  Very!  I would never have met my current partner, Ryan.

If you think that at this point in your life you're doing something you shouldn't do, then don't do it; But if you did, learn from it and move on.  If you remove one piece of the puzzle it will never be complete - don't remove pieces from your life.

X-men: First Class Does The 1960's

Check these out...

Fox Studios, working together with Total Film Magazine created these vintage magazines as part of their X-men: First Class marketing campaign, and a pretty awesome creation it is.

Since the new movie is about the start of X-men (a prequel of sorts), the magazines reflect publications made back in the 60's; One can pretty much tell by the lettering who they are paying homage to.  Starting with the first magazine, Vogue, the second one, Esquire, and the third, Life.  The fourth one doesn't reflect a vintage collection, but posted it anyway.

I have organized my blogs with 3 days worth of postings, so if you wish to continue reading the days before that, and so forth and so forth, you can click the "Older Posts" button /\ /\ /\ right /\ up there.
