I can't believe I sat here and watched a 12 minute video finding out what would happen if our Sun disappeared. I tried to stop it from playing, but curiosity got the best of me.
Well, at least we would have a week in the dark to figure out what to do, as if. Or 8 minutes and 20 seconds before we found out our Sun had vanished.

This video is pretty darn amazing. I love science, the planets, and Star Trek!!! LOL. Seriously though, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory put this together and it's absolutely stunning.

Since its launch in 2010, SDO's data and imagery have exceeded everyone's hopes and expectations, providing stunningly detailed views of the sun. The observatory has continued to return breathtaking pictures and movies of eruptive events on the sun. These images are more than just pretty. By highlighting different wavelengths of light, scientists can track how material on the sun moves. Such movement, in turn, holds clues as to what causes these giant explosions."
All week you had experts saying that satellites were going to be raining from the sky, no one would be able to talk on their cell phones, electronic devices would be going haywire, and planes would have to be re-routed. Oh, they re-routed alright, but when the Solar Storm passed nothing happened. I think these are the same people who do our weather forecasts here in Houston - they never get it right.
Personally, I think it's waiting for the end of the world in December. What do you think?
