“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

The Ultimate Spaceship Face-off

If you're a Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, or science fiction aficionado, you may like this interactive chart.

Author, Chris Kirk over at Slate has created a "highly speculative search for the fastest ship in science fiction" by comparing the speeds of the Star Trek Enterprise NCC-1701, Star Wars' Millennium Falcon, the TARDIS from Doctor Who, the Heart of Gold from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Jupiter 2 from Lost in Space, and even our very own Voyager 1 from NASA.

Kirk gives a very detailed account of his research in reference to each ship; You will find this by clicking on the image to the right, where you can set a course for the Alpha Centauri, Galactic Center, or Andromeda Galaxy.

Surprisingly, what may take the Enterprise decades to reach, the Millennium Falcon can reach in hours, the TARDIS in just seconds.

Star Wars Family Tree - Take 2

You might remember last month's post from Chart Geek.  Well, today I bring you another great Star Wars Family Tree from graphic designer and illustrator Joe Stone.
New Work
Following on from my Marvel Universe Family Tree series I decided to continue the idea and expand it into other areas of pop culture. As a huge Star Wars fan, and with the news that a new series of films were to be made, it seemed like the only option.
The characters are limited purely to the film and canonical TV series’ (sorry Mara Jade fans - although I’m not ruling out the possibility of drawing up an extended universe version at some point).
Click here to view the full thing on my portfolio site, where you can also download a whole bunch of iPhone wallpapers featuring some of the most popular characters for the price of a tweet.

Star Wars Family Tree

For the Star Wars fan in all of us.  Image courtesy of Chart Geek.

With the new Star Wars movies on the horizon, it’s time to brush up on your Star Wars lore. Plus, if you’re unfamiliar with the Star Wars Expanded Universe, you may want to familiarize yourself with a few of the characters that arrive on the scene after Return of the Jedi. They might feature in the upcoming movies. But keep in mind that that’s a very big “might”. So far, we don’t really know what the new movies are going to be about.

Star Wars Conceptual Drawings

These are not some random Star Wars pictures, these are the original hand drawn conceptual drawings for the original trilogy.  Credit is due to this guy here, who passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Star Wars 3D Will Not Change Anything

I'm not sure what George Lucas is drinking? But he's obviously gone off the deep end much like Britney Spears and Anne Heche did 'back in the day.'  By now everyone has either heard or read about his grandiose idea of re-editing his films into 3D.  Fans are outraged, but personally, they are his movies and he can do with them as he pleases.  I think you should buy the movies as they are now, before they're gone forever. LOL.

The Force is gone with this one: Why 3D will do little to improve Star Wars
A long time ago, in this very galaxy, Star Wars was a great film. Sadly, after his glorious pinnacle of creativity, George Lucas started a downward slide and ended up hacking away at his own legacy.

Return Of The Jedi: How It Should Have Ended

Here's a treat for all you Star Wars fans.  Remember  the folks who brought you Jurassic Park: How It Should Have Ended?  Well... they're back, and this time HISHEdotcom shares their version of how the Return of the Jedi should have ended.  It's pretty darn hilarious.  Well... if you've seen all 6 movies. LOL.

Vintage Star Wars Characters

I thought these were pretty cool. Unfortunately, I do not know the artist, but if you're a Star Wars fan you'll get a chuckle out of these character portraits.  C-3PO, Boba Fett, Chewbacca and Darth Vader are those pictured.

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 43 - Best Commercial Ever!!!

Yes, everyone is saying it's the best commercial ever, so I had to post it.  Even Ryan sent me the video last night so that when I got to work I'd find it in my inbox. LOL. Thanks my love!
Remember last year's Volkswagen commercial with little Darth?  Well, this time around it's a group of loving "man's best friends"

Check it out.  It's supposedly a teaser until the big reveal on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Lazy Jedi

You Star Wars fans will love this.  Especially you lazy ones, because if you could you would. LOL.

Master Dave just doesn't feel motivated today. With great power eventually comes great laziness.

Darth Vader Montage

Being the iconic character that he is, no wonder so many corporations use him.  But they left out the best commercial of them all.  Last year's Volkswagen Superbowl commercial, featuring little Darth.

In either case, it was pretty cool to see some of the old cheesy ones compared to the newer ones.  Makes one feel older.

Worst Star Wars Costumes Ever!

Is it me, or are these the worst Star Wars Costumes you've ever seen? LMAO. Poor R2D2.  Sad thing is, they'd probably win the costume contest for being original.

Cello Wars: The Phantom Cellist

I'm sure none of you have ever seen something quite like this.  Those who have been in a high school band, college, or elsewhere would probably appreciate this video more.  I actually enjoyed it, it was pretty cool.
The guys behind the video never expected it would take them 70 days to put this together, but it did.  It took more than 7,000 frames, 72 audio tracks, 24 hours of filming through the night in front of a green screen, the most props and costumes they ever used, several broken bows and strings, and over 1,000 hours of editing and rendering -- they felt like they had taken on the entire EMPIRE!

So without further ado, The Piano Guys and Steven Sharp Nelson present to you...

The Creation of the Stormtrooper Helmet

This is pretty cool... well if you're a Star Wars fan it's really, really cool!

Take a break and watch this fascinating video below.

Andrew Ainsworth, the creator of the original Stormtrooper helmet, filmed himself making one from start to finish.  I thoroughly enjoyed the video, and I think you will too.

Harry Potter vs. Star Wars

Absolutely love it!  Both movies and their characters are placed side by side in the following images.  Check it out, it's pretty darn cool.

Check out the rest of the characters after the jump...

For All You Star Wars (Prequel) Haters

Yesterday I brought you posters in Lego, today I bring you "The Force" in Lego!  Haha, it's actually a video done by YouTuber, dzine123.

So if your one of the original trilogy fans who hated the prequels and wish to see them in a condensed version - this video is for you.  All three prequels in less than 2.5 minutes - you can't beat that.  I'm still waiting for the condensed versions of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter in Lego.  Hell, all of the Friday the 13ths in Lego would suffice. LoL

Little Girl Bows in Public

This young Padawan took it upon herself to bow in allegiance to Darth Vader while on vacation with her family; It was cute and hilarious at the same time.

I guess she realized the power of the Dark Side, but Darth wasn't having any of it.  He quickly had her escorted off to train with the Sith.
