Superman Returns as Dylan Dog

Everytime I see this man shivers run down my spine, and well... other things occur, but that's a different subject.

Brandon Routh returns to the big screen as Dylan Dog, a supernatural private eye who always dresses the same way, in a red shirt, black jacket, and blue jeans. The character is based on Italian horror comic series based in London.

In the upcoming movie, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, due out in theaters April 29th, Mr. Dog will be specializing in the affairs of the undead. His PI business card reads “No Pulse? No Problem.” Armed with an edgy wit and carrying an arsenal of silver and wood-tipped bullets, Dylan must track down a dangerous artifact before a war ensues between his werewolf, vampire and zombie clients living undercover in the monster infested backstreets of New Orleans.

If you haven't seen the trailer, you can now;  Besides, I'm more than sure you have no complaints seeing superman without a shirt.

Mind-Boggling News: Dog Has A Midnight Snack

Imagine waking up in the morning as you normally do, and notice you are missing three toes.  That is exactly what happened to a 61 year old man in Oregon.

OMG, I would totally freak out if my little Chihuahuas (all 4 of them) were having a feast on my feet while I slept.  And when I'm tired, I'm tired, just ask Ryan (my partner), I'm literally in a state of cryostasis.

According to the Associated Press, the dog, which was a Shinu Ibu, ate the dogs toes "most likely out of instinct to help remove diseased flesh."  I'm sorry, but having diabetes is not diseased flesh, he just had numbness of the feet possibly.  In either case, the dog has been given up for adoption and "appears to be anxious."  Yeah, I would be too.

And You Thought This Guy Was Human

The Japanese are at it again.  Well, this time with the help of their Danish counterparts they have created their first ever Robot with a Goatee. The Geminoid DK, yes there's even a facebook page.  When I first saw the image online I thought he was human, but no, I was wrong.

American scientists were first when it came to the bearded robot, but like almost everything else, we are behind with the times. What is this country to do?  Lord, by the time our children have grown up, America will be the Land of the Lost instead of the Land of the Free.  We've fallen behind on the space race, with China on the verge of major space exploration.  In 20 years we'll no longer be the world's largest economy, our healthcare system is out of whack, and as far as education is concerned, we are in a downward spiral.  Instead of taking political terrorism or GLBT classes in college (sorry Guillermo), maybe we should be focusing on Math or Science.

Enough of my ranting, watch the creepy robot below.

True Blood Season 4 - Preview & Spoilers!!!

If you're a True Blood fan you have been longing for some blood.  Not being able to withstand the wait any longer you do crazy things, like bite the one you love at night while they're sleeping.

Well you no longer have to wait, there's a 30 second spot which was released a couple of days ago.  All you really see is Eric wandering around the forest like he's got amnesia,  Boo-hoo, give me some real action, like bring Godric back or something.  I guess Eric developed amnesia for being encased in cement, again boo-hoo.

According to online sources like True Blood Wiki, there will be plenty of new faces this season, along with our regular favorites like Pam and Nan Flanagan.  The new characters joining the lair are:

All of the following details below were revealed at PaleyFest this past Saturday in California. Do not read if you're not into spoilers, but I'm sorry I can't wait any longer...

No more Bill & Sookie
If you’re a big fan of these two together, I suggest you don’t read this paragraph. The emotional break-up from these two at the end of Season 3 will stick. Apparently, the road to reconciliation will be a long one and won’t happen quickly.

Who is Eric?
Following the plot of the novels, it seems like Eric will be losing his memory causing Sookie to be tied up in him. See? She won’t even be thinking about Bill. Not quite sure how Eric is to gain his amnesia but he will receive some help piecing his life together from a blonde fairy (wink wink).

Walking In a Fairy Wonderland
At the end of Season 3, we saw Sookie walking aimlessly in an enchanted fairy land. At the top of Season 4, Sookie will be back but there is something different. She will continue to find herself without Bill by her side. However, don’t expect to meet her fairy godmother this season.

Bring In the Witches
It has been rumored that Season 4 will be all about the witches. However, they are not going to be the bringers of evil. They will be an older entity. The witchy Kevin (Jesus) will return Lafayette’s boyfriend. They are still happy but is that because he is under Jesus’ spell?

Shifty Shifty
Sam had a little bit of a blowout at the end of Season 3 but is apparently getting another shot at love. His brother Tommy will also be back and up to no good. In addition to the witches being added this year, there will also be some more “shifters” added to the mix.

She’s Back…
She may have left in a flurry but have no fear, Tara will be back for Season 4. Where did Tara go? That will all be revealed and apparently, its pretty cool and fans will be surprised. Tara will be a lot happier and more stable this season. Its a new Tara.

Last Minute Spoilers
Arlene and Terry are still “evil-baby bound” and it is said that the problem will get increasingly worse as the season begins. Andy will get into some trouble of his own experimenting with the things that V left behind in the office. The fight between Bill and Queen Sophie-Anne will continue and some more characters will get involved.

BFF Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga Like You've Never Seen Them Before!

So what do you get when you have Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift snuggling on a couch together?  A musical collaboration like no other.  OMG, this mashup is so darn hilarious, it's actually good.

Tracey Remix liked DJ Mashup's mashup of Gaga and Taylor Swift so much, that she took it upon herself to create a mashup video unlike any other I've seen to date.
"What can I say about this...? I got hooked on yet another DJ Mashup creation and I jumped at the challenge of putting some visuals to it. I could have obsessed about some of the effects a bit more, but my job saps a lot of time from me, and I didn't want to wait any longer to post it up. Hope you like it."
And like it, I do! Throughout the video you see Gaga and Swift on stage together, on the phone, on the couch.  It's more like BFF (Best Friends Forever), is what I'd call it.

QAF and What This Show Meant To Me

I was reflecting on a show my partner blogged about on March 1st. It was a television series I watched while I was a teenager, and unlike any I had ever seen - I watched it in hiding to say the least.

Queer As Folk was such a beautiful television series that our closest friends probably would have never seen if not for my partner and I, and that truly is very sad. Though our generation has improved and evolved in regards to gay issues than from the past, we are still very much in dire need of an "in your face" honest and real gay television series. Aside from the L word there has not been anything close to what Queer as Folk has brought to the table for gays everywhere. Dante's Cove? Give me a break.

Sure we get our spots and cameos on other shows and if we're very lucky we may even get a main character role like on Brother's and Sisters or Shameless or almost any reality TV show airing, but it's not Queer as Folk. Maybe that's for the better though. Maybe nothing should ever try and take the place of such a unique thing. It broke boundaries and help paved the way for all these gay characters and gay friendly mentality to open up not only on TV but in our society as well.

I remember buying the entire series from a market in Taiwan, I think, on Ebay. I opened the mail after running upstairs to hide in my room and then later at night I'd watch them all on my laptop, under the sheets, with the volume on low, hiding from my parents while getting a glimpse into gay life that I so wanted to go out and enjoy.

Eventually I did and in almost the exact same way as Justin did when he took his first steps down Liberty Avenue. He also came out to his parents, found his true love in an older man and made many gay and accepting friends and family along the way. All of that I've accomplished too, and though I honestly believe that it would have happened eventually, I have no doubt that watching the cast of QAF get through their fictional lives, ultimately helped me get through and on with my very real one.

It's been so great ever since I came out at 19. My God, almost seven years now and yet it truly feels like an eternity ago. This generation younger than me will never know QAF and it really makes me cry. It's up to us "older" gays to never forget the power and impact that one brilliant show had on all of us years ago. Every new generation will have unlimited tools at their disposal to help them with coming out and growing up gay while being happy and knowledgeable, but as we've all seen there are still suicides and there are still gay bashing's across the country. There are still anti-gay policies in the work place, in our schools, in our homes and in our government too. There is still hate. There is no full equality yet. BUT, there is and always will be hope and change and a new, inspirational youth that will never give up until they get the same rights that everybody else already does. They may not all get to experience Queer as Folk, but they're sure living in a world and community that's already been improved because of it.

I still miss it even today, but I will never forget what those wonderful actors, writers, producers and all the people involved help create to entertain but ultimately help me become the proud gay man that I am today. If any of them are reading this now, however unlikely that may be, please know one thing. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.

Do You Wanna Touch Me? On Glee, That Is...

Yes, the substitute teacher, Holly Holiday makes a return to Glee on Tuesday, and everyone's excited about Gwyneth Paltrow reprising the role which made her an iTunes favorite.  She had an unprecedented number of downloads last year for her rendition of "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green.

This time around Ms Holiday will be substituting for the sex-ed teacher who's gone missing. She makes a convenient pit stop in the choir room to, for some reason, have a talk about safe sex. To illustrate her point, she takes off some clothes and gets the whole class dancing as she sings Joan Jett's "Do You Wanna Touch Me".

Foods That Make You Cringe - Issue No. 6

For my 6th issue of 'Foods That Make You Cringe,' you have a huge Doughnut and a Birthday Cake.  New versions of course!

Every week I'll be stating the obvious fact; that people make up the craziest shit, hence the reason people tell you, "
This Is Why Your Fat."  Yes, I know it's Saturday; I got behind on my regular posts.

Here is a doughnut made to look like a pizza with 4 different flavors.
Oreo, crunch bar, vanilla wafer, and strawberry top the massive
doughnut. A heart attack waiting to happen.

Use of the dry texture to absorb a rich, eggy mixture, which is then pan-fried (frosting and all) to yield a new breed of French toast that's beyond decadent. Via Serious Eats.

Is There Some Hidden Gay Agenda In The New Wonder Woman Series?

We already know Adrianne Palicki has some big shoes to fill, but can Elizabeth Hurley pull "the evil villian?" David E. Kelley and Warner Bros. seem to think so.  She will be playing Veronica Cale, a founding partner in Cale-Anderson Pharmaceuticals.

My question is... why is it that every time a villian is cast as the arch-nemesis of the superhero, they are thrown into a gay or bi character?  They don't come out and say it, but the hints are thrown at you.  According to the NBC casting description, the villian is:
"female, open ethnicity, late 30s to early 40s. Beautiful, highly-educated, highly accomplished, she runs one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the country…but she's afflicted with the serious deep-seated Wonder Woman envy. Whatever she is, or will be in life…she'll never be her. And it causes her innards to rot. She loves men, but likes women. There might be an unstated chemistry between her and Wonder Woman, at least on her side."
So pretty much what they're trying to say is that we're going to see some lesbian flirting and possibly even a small lesbian kiss.  This goes for both sides of the spectrum, gay or bi, why even insinuate it.  Just leave the gays out and make straights evil for once.  Hell, Wonder Woman is going to have three identities as it is, and she's straight in each of them.  E online asked it best, Are you excited about the return of Wonder Woman to television? Or are you bracing yourself for another clunky NBC genre drama in the vein of Bionic Woman, Knight Rider, Heroes and The Cape?

A Kick-Ass R.E.M. Music Video

Who would have thought the nerdy kid behind the mask was actually a gorgeous 21 yr old by the name of Aaron Johnson.  You know him as "Kick-Ass," the nerdy Superhero from the movie of the same name.

R.E.M., on the verge of a major comeback, are set to release their first album in 3 years and have used Mr. Johnson to their advantage, along with his 50 year old fiancee as the director.  I have listened to the first single, "Überlin," from their album, "Collapse Into Now" and it clearly reminds me of the R.E.M. we all know and love, it truly takes you back to the 1990's.

I have posted the video under "The Spotlight" section on my blog, it's on the right hand side and will automatically start playing or it's on this post if you wish to watch it at a later time.

The only thing happening in the video is Aaron dancing through the entire song (something I have no problem with). While goofy at times, I actually enjoyed watching him, and the music was spectacular.  Take a look and tell me what you think.  Yay or Nay?  And as always, you can enlarge the pictures.

Who's Who on Superman: Man of Steele?

We already know who will be playing Superman (Henry Cavill), but who will be playing his worldly parents?

Zack Snyder, the director of Superman: Man of Steele, along with Warner Brothers announced yesterday, that Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Secretariat) would be playing Martha Kent, "the only mother Clark Kent has ever known," and “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

The Hollywood Reporter also writes that Kevin Costner is a "person of interest" for the role of Superman's father, Jonathan Kent.

Other well-known actors possibly joining the cast are Viggo Mortensen as General Zod and Lindsay Lohan as Ursa, but we all know what kinda mess Lindsay is in.  And besides, a rumor is just that, a rumor.  Until Warner Bros. or Zack Snyder come out and say who's playing who, I'll leave it at that.

WOAH OH OH OH OH OH WOAH OH OH OH...

Britney Spears' new song,"till the world ends" was released this morning and considering that the song was co-written by Ke$ha (a sorry excuse for a musician), I'd have to give her an 8 for effort and a 10 for making it a sure club-hit.  While the song does remind me a little of Ke$ha's style, it is by far a million times better than "Hold It Against Me."

Can I say that again?  It's a MILLION TIMES BETTER!

The new song only has two verses and the rest is chorus, chorus, chorus.

Okay, this is off subject but what I just wrote reminded me of a  part in the movie, "Trick" where Perry gives Gabriel advice on removing a verse from a song Gabriel had written...

Perry - Honey, get it out of there. Just go to the chorus. That's the fun part

Gabriel - But what about all the setup?

Perry - Gabriel!   Songwriters have been doing the verse-chorus thing forever.  It's tired.  Be                a maverick.  What's the function of a verse?  To kill time till we get to the chorus.                    During the verse, we wait. We are waiting for the chorus. Just give us what we want.            Chorus, chorus, chorus!

And it's true, Britney has given you what you've wanted.  The question is... can Britney bring on the style and energy this song delivers and make it into an amazing live performance and awesome music video?

A Totally Awesome Born This Way Remix

Truly a magical gem, DJs from Mars has created a remix for the ages.  They took Amii Stewart's beats from the very popular 60's song, "Knock on Wood," and blended it with Lady Gaga's, "Born This Way."

Who's knocking on who's door now?  Take that, and express your-f*king-self is what I have to say.

He's Hot, He's Asian, He's Harry Shum Jr.

Since we're on the subject of Glee, we tend to forget that there are plenty of hotties on the show.  Like Harry Shum, Jr., for instance.  I don't know how many of you remember this, but he he made his first inroad into American's living rooms as the iconic silhouette dancer in the original iPod commercials several years ago. And you probably don't know that he was born of Chinese parents living in Costa Rica and his first language is Spanish.  He had to learn English and Chinese later on.

Today he is back in the living rooms of legions of devoted fans playing Mike Chang, on one of the nation's most popular shows.  Even though Harry's character stole the girlfriend of wheelchair-bound Artie, this actor is inescapably sweet, upstanding and fucking hot!  In fact, his aura is so bright and uplifting, you just want to go to bed with him.  I mean... well... dance with him. :-)

Someone On Glee is Going To Die - It's a Done Deal

Yes, someone on Glee is going to kick the bucket!  According to Michael Ausiello, “the Grim Reaper, of all people, will be crashing Regionals.” Oh no, please don't let it be Principal Figgins, Ryan and I love his character.

Ausiello went on to say that “Rumor has it someone will sing their swan song just prior to Regionals. And to say the tragedy has a significant impact on it is a big freakin’ understatement.”

So now all we have to do is wait for the "Original Song" episode to air on March 15.

On Tuesday, a preview for next week's episode, "Sexy" and "Original Song" was released.  While the majority of the video is focused on next Tuesday's episode, we do get a sneak peak at the Regional performances.  As the Warblers prepare to perform, Kurt is battling a case of stage fright. Standing with Blaine, Kurt asks, "Has anyone ever literally died on stage?"
