If you've never heard of Taylor Mali, now's your chance.  And for those who love poetry, you know who he is. Here's a brief bio from his website www.taylor.mali.com:

Mali is a vocal advocate of teachers and the nobility of teaching, having himself spent nine years in the classroom teaching everything from English and history to math and S.A.T. test preparation. He has performed and lectured for teachers all over the world, and his New Teacher Project has a goal of creating 1,000 new teachers through "poetry, persuasion, and perseverance."

This morning I came across one of Taylor Mali's works, and I had to share it with all my readers.  It is really, really good.   Titled, The Spoken Word, artist Ronnie Bruce took Mali's work and created this magnificent Typography animation.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

God Help Us If Texas Governor, Ricky Perry is Elected...

Scientists are a fabric of our society.  We have what we have in our hands (cell phones), because of Scientists.  Almost everything we own in our lives is because Science was involved. 

After a reporter gives him a huge breakdown on Global Warming and his position regarding it, our Texas Governor, Rick Perry, and I use "our" lightly, claims that scientists invented global warming to make money.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Governor.  And keep in mind, our state has been in extreme drought for over 6 months!  As I was driving in The Woodlands last week, trees everywhere were dying, trees planted by highways dead, and beautiful landscapes gone!  Yeah, we live in a make-belief land.

Hasn't America learned their lesson by electing another dumbass from Texas?  Seriously, how much more stupid can this country get?  God help us all!

War of the Roses - Ashley & Jake

If you're not familiar with the "War of the Roses", then I suggest you read up on my first issue, here.  I wrote a detailed description on how it actually works.

In this morning's call, Roula took on the fictional role of Ashley from Plants and Flowers, Incorporated.

Responding to an email from Sarah, Roula and Ryan begin their regular weekly segment of Roula and Ryan's Roses by asking the caller a few questions.  Sarah informs them that she has been dating her fiance, Jake for two years, and are due to be married in couple of weeks.  But she has been feeling a bit uncomfortable lately.  She states that about a month ago, they held their bachelor and bachelorette parties in two different cities.  Jake with his friends in Las Vegas, and Sarah with her friends in New York City.

Over the course of the last month or so, Jake has been really under-performing in bed, not really paying attention to Sarah, and starts to think that maybe it's wedding nerves or cold feet.  But then something really strange happens... last week, Jake receives a text on his phone and when Sarah goes to pick it up, he swipes it away quickly.  She confronts him about the 702 area code, which clearly is from Nevada, and tries to say it was the hotel manager texting to make sure everything went okay during his visit.

Roula and Ryan share their thoughts on the matter, and go over the rules of the "War."  They ask her again if she really wants to go through with this, because regardless of the outcome, Jake will have to know she made the call to the radio station to trick him.

So how does this battle end?  Will Jake send the flowers to Sarah?  Is there another woman?

Flashback to the 1990's - Roxette - It Must Have Been Love

If you want to talk about a year in the life - talk about the year 1990.  So many hits were released this year, and it was one of the most memorable years of my life.  I can't even begin to mention the amount of times I've listened to this song after my heart was broken, because "it must have been love, but it was over."   I can quite honestly say, it is one of my all time favorite hits.

Today, almost every girl and boy in America associate the song with Pretty Woman, because this was also the year the film was released.  If you ever want to feel Nostalgic, just watch that movie or play that song - they will take you back to a time of young love, or your most memorable moments.

Patrick Schwarzenegger for Hudson Jeans

Move over Taylor Lautner, there's a new cat in town, and his name is Patrick Schwarzenegger!  Yep, the soon-to-be 18-year old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver has been plastered all over Hollywood.  

First stop: A huge-ass billboard above Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.  He is starring in a new campaign for Hudson Jeans, and I'd have to say, he's looking pretty damn fine.

Collect Them All!

Yay, get them while you can!  Collect all 9 cigarette labels being released by the FDA next month!  

Yep, you read this correctly; all you smokers will be seeing these 9 horrific images on your packages of cigarettes starting next month. So if you don't have a cigarette case, you better run out and get one.

 

Seriously folks, if these images don't make you quit, I don't know what will.  Geezus, these are simply disgusting!  But oh, so very true.  I have to commend the FDA on this new campaign, but I also have to disagree with them.  

Everyone in this country knows that smoking can kill you - even second-hand smoke can kill you, but isn't it every American's right to choose how they want to die?

Then again, is it okay that smokers are killing people around them with their second-hand smoke?

A Very Special Guest Indeed

One of the things that really perturbs me is the fact that there are those who have nothing better to say, but to degrade a talented artist.  So many times I hear about how Gaga was copying another artist, and frankly it has gotten downright ridiculous.  These type of people never change, they were instilled with hatred and being a bully all their lives - the very things Gaga is so against.

Without further adieu, here you have a princess being classy to a lady despite all the hateful comments and rumors about Britney Spears and Gaga hating each other.

During a recent concert in Atlantic City, Britney tells her fans, "I have a very special guest here tonight... Lady Gaga is here!"  She then blows a kiss in the direction where Lady Gaga was sitting.  

According to The Sun, “They sat for around an hour gossiping and talking about collaborating together on a track. GaGa already has two songs in mind.”

I hope you're looking forward to the VMAs, because the Lady will be on stage with Britney.  Woop, Woop!

Before I met my partner, Ryan and the ex before him, I owned cats - I had three to be exact.  I didn't have them at the same time, but at different times of my life.

Land of the Lost: The Freeway To Nowhere

I've always been fascinated with abandoned projects - buildings, ghost ships, and what not.  
I think it's truly fascinating that at some point in our lives, or in that of our parent's; Someone's dream came to a screeching halt.  That in the middle constructing a mall or highway the money ran out, or a protest brought things to a close.

In the following images you will see the Richmond Parkway Interchange, "a stretch of highway that would have connected southern Staten Island to the Staten Island Expressway."  

According to Nathan Kensinger's blog, "The plan for the parkway was to cut through what is now the Staten Island Greenbelt, tearing down pristine forests." 

Members in nearby communities were able to stop urban developer, Robert Moses with amazing success - this project ended up being his last.  Residents were able to protect their beautiful landscape, and the highway has since remained abandoned for more than 45 years.  The roads are now littered with empty liquor bottles, abandoned cars with trees growing through them, and juvenile graffiti.

It would be a dream to be able to visit all these places I blog about so much.  Just another goal in life...

The Woes of Being a Bad Parent - I'M NOT A FREAKING FISH I DON'T NEED TO SWIM!

Last week I posted a video on my segment, "Are People Really This Stupid?" that drew a lot of attention from several of my readers, and from those on YouTube.

It was about a boy named Stephen who wanted to get a tattoo for his 18th birthday, and went ballistic on the tattooist as he started to ink him.  While some people on the internet feel that the videos Stephen and his brother tape are staged, I begin to wonder if their parents are actually bad parents. Maybe you can help me with this...

In the following video, Stephen is out in the pool area with his parents as they try to teach him how to swim.  After arguing about the importance of swimming, his father pushes him into 4 foot of water where he begins to flap around as if he's drowning.  Once he gets out, he throws a lawn chair at his dad in the pool, curses at them and flips them off. 

As he walks away he yells at his parents, "I'M NOT A FREAKING FISH I DON'T NEED TO SWIM!"

Even if the videos were staged, which I don't know if they are, would you allow your children to act this way?  One commenter on YouTube wrote: "Spoiled Brat....he acts like he's 4 years of age with the tantrums he throws." and another wrote, "i wish dad would smack the shit out of this faggot."

What a Hot Mess: True Blood

Imagine laying in your bed on a Saturday morning, alone in your home, when you awaken to the sound of someone kicking down your door.  Then all of a sudden you see a guy in boxers, hissing, growling and coming towards you.

He tries to bite your neck and hits you a few times, but you manage to escape and run out into the driveway where some neighbors tell you to jump into their car, and as your speeding away, the Twilight crazed vampire is still chasing you.

Okay, first things first, if the vampire trying to suck the blood out of me looks like Lyle Bensley up above, he can drain all the blood he wants.  I'll let him feed for days if he wants.  LOL.  Just kidding. I don't know about you, but he's kinda hot - In a vampire-crazed kinda way.

Well the story above was all over the Houston News last night,  and the person he tried to bite was a woman alone in her apartment.

Detectives said this is one of the most bizarre cases they've handled.

"He was adamant on the fact that he was a vampire and he had been here for 500 years," Officer Andrian Healy said. "Stated numerous times he wasn't out to hurt the human race."

"You could actually see what looked like teeth marks on the side of her neck," Officer Daniel Erickson said.

The 19-year old was taken into custody after a short chase, where he ended up confessing to the crime and admitting that he was a 500-year old vampire.  Dressed in boxers and feeding at dawn sure doesn't sound like a vampire.  It sounds more like a horny teenager.  What a hot mess!  Where's the King of Louisiana when you need him?

OMG Hilarious! - Saved By Scruffy

Through The Streets of Brooklyn in High Definition

Shot on Rule Boston Camera's Phantom Flex camera, this astonishing film, 8 Hours in Brooklyn, directed by Jonathan Bregel is absolutely breathtaking.  

The footage was shot with an 8 hour span in Brooklyn, NYC and features people going about their regular day.  From kids playing basketball to skaters boarding through the streets, kids's playing slip 'n slide, and a tattooist inking someone.  The images are captivating and mind blowing, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm hoping the person who did this was filthy drunk, otherwise they need to seek therapy. LMAO!
