Movies to Watch: Immortals

 

There are three genres I like most, United States History with emphasis on the Civil War, Greek Mythology with emphasis on Hercules and Poseidon, and Science Fiction with emphasis on Star Trek Captains, Kirk and Janeway.

Coming on the 11th day, of the 11th month, in the 11th year of the millenium, The Gods Need A Hero and it's in the form of the IMMORTALS.

And the storyline?

Years after the Titanomachy, the Titan Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) declares war on humanity. He searches for the Epirus Bow, a legendary weapon created by the war god Ares, which will allow him to free the rest of the Titans from Tartarus and take revenge on the Olympians who brought about their downfall. In accordance with ancient laws, the gods are unable to take a side in the war between Hyperion and humanity. It is left to a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill), chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) and accompanied by the priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and a slave (Stephen Dorff), to protect his homeland and save the gods.

A trailer hasn't been released,  but the images down below will give you an insight into what you can expect from the creator (Tarsem Singh ) of 300 and The Cell.  He will be creating a masterpiece and I'm really excited about it.

 

The movie is going to be chock-full of gorgeous guys, with equally gorgeous bodies.  So many, I can't even post all of them at this time.  I will use these images and comments courtesy of blogger, Tyrell who put these together.

First up, the picture at the top of the page is Daniel Sharman who plays Ares in the upcoming flick. In Greek Mythology, he is son of Zeus and lover of Aphrodite (playa playa). I think that him and Luke look very similar proving the apple clearly doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Or in Greek terms, thank Zeus lightning struck twice.

Meet Luke Evans who will be taking on the heavy duty role of Zeus. No big deal, just playing Greek mythology’s “Big Man Upstairs”. I wonder how big his lightning rod is? Luke also played Apollo in Clash of the Titans. This man loves to be a god.

I couldn’t let this gorgeous gal’s movie poster go to waste. This is Isabel Lucas who plays Athena, goddess of of civilization and warfare among other things as well as Zeus’ daughter and brother to Ares. She’s a big player of power in this film so watch out.

We are all very familiar with this hunk of a man, Superman's Henry Cavill. He takes on the role of the peasant, Theasus, who will soon become an Athenian hero. With a body like that, he can be my hero any day (or time period).

And finally, Kellan Lutz who will be taking on the role of Poseidon. Doesn’t he put the motion in your ocean?

Student Voting Laws by State

In a really sad turn of events, Student voting laws are changing for the worse.  If the laws go through, it will definitely change the outlook of the 2012 election... pretty much what the Dark Side (Republicans) are looking forward to, in excitement.

Steve Trevor Has Been Cast In New Wonder Woman Series

Ryan and I watched a few episodes of the Knight Rider reboot that aired from 2008-2009, and to be frank, it wasn't as great as I expected it to be.  Once the car started changing colors and wishing it was a transformer - it started getting too bombastic for me; We eventually stopped watching it altogether.  But I can't say the same for Justin Bruening, the star of the show - he was a total hottie.  An actor and former Abercrombie & Fitch model, the 32 year-old was cast as Mike Traceur, the son of Michael Knight from the original Knight Rider series.  

Since the show ended, Justin hasn't had much luck finding a new job, until now... well... that is until recently. 

Bruening has joined the cast of the new Wonder Woman series which began shooting in March.  He will be playing the government agent (Steve Trevor) who crash-lands on the island of Themyscira and falls in love with Diana.  According to Deadline, in the new television series they've broken up and he's working as a lawyer in the Justice Department. Apparently they are not over each other.

If you ask me, they have done a great job with the casting of the new series, and I'm really looking forward to it.  This doesn't go to say that I don't have my doubts I'm just trying to stay optimistic.  My biggest thing is... how will the transformation take place?

Gaga to Launch 'GMA' Summer Concert Series

On Friday, May 27th, in NYC, Good Morning America is kicking off their Summer Concert Series with Lady Gaga.  And here is the big GMA announcement made yesterday morning.

The video starts off with:

I Voted Republican...

Everyone knows I didn't vote Republican this past November...

But had I voted I definitely wouldn't be wearing this shirt. Then again, maybe I should.

The 2012 re-election campaign of President Barack Obama was kicked off today.  And while many people have their doubts, there is no doubt in my mind that progress WAS made.

A lot more was done the past 3 years that wasn't done over the previous 30 or 40 combined, and I wouldn't let anyone tell me otherwise.  Well they can try, but it's pointless if they did.

Feel free to share this post with anyone, and remember, who we vote for matters.  Even if you're state is predominantly RED, it's our duty as Americans to take voting seriously, and help turn it BLUE.

Keeping It Old Skool - Issue No. 4 - Voltron

I didn't realize how much time had flown by.  I haven't posted a "Keeping It Old Skool" issue since mid-February.  Don't get me wrong, I've wanted to post one each week, but with all the current events and hot guys I had to get my priorities in order, LOL.

I was 13 years old when my mother bought me this amazing toy, I played with it for hours on end, and it was the coolest toy ever!  She had no idea what it was, she just wanted to make me happy.  The coolest thing about the toy was the fact that it was like the cartoon, but better!  So not only did I have the 2D version I saw on TV, but I had the real VOLTRON! In. My. Hands!  In the cartoon, Voltron was made up of five pilots who would command these five robot lions, which could be put together to form the greatest Robot of all time.  The five were in charge of protecting the planet Arus (ruled by Princess Allura) from the evil King Zarkon (from planet Doom), his son Lotor, and the witch Haggar, who would create huge Robeasts to terrorize the people of Arus.

According to Wikipedia: 

The original series was created by Peter Keefe in 1983 using material he had licensed from the Japanese cartoons Beast King GoLion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV. The series was dubbed into English and edited, rewriting the scripts with reduced violence and the removal of Japanese cultural and location references.  A sequel to the original series, was made in the 1990s using computer generated imagery (CGI) techniques.

 

Ahhhh, the joys of 80's commercials! :-)  I don't remember what happened to my Voltron.  I think I may have dissected him, as investigating how things were made were a pastime favorite of mine.

MTV's Official Teen Wolf Trailer

As you may know by now, or maybe you don't.  MTV has decided to reboot another television show; Quite surprising, since their reboot of SKINS, didn't go so well.  As a matter of fact, it was a disaster!  But TEEN WOLF, may show some promise... 

After taking a look at the trailer, I'd have to say Taylor Lautner of Twilight has some competition on his hands, and it comes in the name of Tyler Posey.  Not to mention all the other hot studs on this upcoming series.  It seems everyone is on the wolf bandwagon these days, with the likes of Twilight, Vampire Diaries and True Blood, it was only a matter of time.

Stranger Than Fiction Haleloo!

I don't even know where to begin with this. I'm going to make it short, because I don't even know where to begin with this.  Wait.  Did I just repeat myself?

So here I am, quietly reading my Entertainment Weekly, when the name D.J. Pierce creeps up.  I sat, asking myself quietly, why does that name sound so familiar?  Then I put two and two together, and figured out it was Ms. Shangela Laquifa Wadley from RuPaul's Drag Race.  Okay, so Entertainment Weekly helped me figure it out. Either way, the bitch has managed to walk away with reportedly an NBC television script also featuring Don Johnson and viral video celebrity Chris Crocker.

So what’s the deal with the show — and Shangela’s role on it? Here’s what’s what. A Mann’s World centers on Johnson, who plays Allan Mann, a Beverly Hills hairdresser (yes, really) who is having trouble staying relevant. And this is where Shangela comes into play: In the pilot, Shangela — err, D.J. Pierce — is set to play Snip, one of three fabulous, top-tiered stylists who come into Mann’s salon. (One-third of the trio will be played by Chris Crocker, who became famous after releasing a crying jag about Britney Spears’ infamously botched performance of “Gimme More” at the 2007 VMAs.) Also starring in the show are Sex and the City‘s Mario Cantone and Ellen Barkin. Sex and the City‘s Michael Patrick King is set to produce. Not a shabby cast or creative team, to say the least!

All I have to say, Shangela said it best when the show ended last week,  

“It’s a sad feeling because I definitely came back into this competition wanting to win. And it’s not been easy, but I’m leaving a winner,” Shangela said. “And it’s just a lesson for everyone who’s ever wanted to pursue a dream they’ve had. Live your passion, and live it to the fullest. Halle-lou!”

In Brightest day, In Blackest Night. No Evil Shall Escape My Sight...

If you ever had any doubt in your mind that Green Lantern was going to be anything else, but fabulous, think again.  Over the weekend, new footage of the movie was released at WonderCon, and I'm telling you, this is going to be the best summer anyone has ever seen.  With the end of Harry Potter, Captain America, Thor, X-men, omg the list continues.  What an amazing adventure it will be!

Ryan Reyolds looks fit and muscular in the brand new trailer, so I take back what I said about all superheroes emulating Captain America.  Well... Chris Evans is unmistakably hot.  

Watching the trailer in 2D was really awesome, but I can't imagine what 3D will do to this movie.  I cannot wait.  Thanks Ryan for sharing this with me yesterday.

Now Here's a Mashup Worthy of a World Tour!

Justin Bieber and Slipknot on tour together, now wouldn't that be a sight to behold?  It's amazing what you find on the internet these days, because without it, we'd be clueless.  I'll be honest, most of the time I skim through a video so I can review it, and then blog about it.  Not this time!  I was simply mesmerized by the amazing sound and sat through the whole darn thing.  It was actually quite good.
