A Very Special Moment - Issue #10: Omelette
This is the cutest and sweetest short film I've seen in a very long time. And I guess it's even more special because Ryan and I are pet owners.
For the past 3 years my little Duchess has layed on my chest at night and then snuggled underneath the covers as I fall asleep. Before that, it was Princess. And both protected me with their lives; Duchess, even more so.
But this film isn't really about a pet, it's about cooking for someone you love. You'll have to watch the video to understand.

A Very Special Moment - Issue #9: Dance With My Father Again
For those who watch Ellen, you probably already know she's sent her staff to the Philippines to find young a boy by the name of Alrich Talonding. She recently invited him to sing on her show.
The young boy has become a YouTube sensation after a video appeared of him singing Luther Vandross's, "Dance With My Father Again". And if you've never heard of the song, it's one of the most emotional and heart-wrenching songs you'll ever hear. It's about a child who misses his father who passed away, and who's mother's pain embraces him. Lyrics are at the bottom.
"Dance With My Father Again"
Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around ‘til I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure I was loved
If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
How I’d love, love, love
To dance with my father again
When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way, I would run from her to him
He’d make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance, one final step, one final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
‘Cause I’d love, love, love
To dance with my father again
Sometimes I’d listen outside her door
And I’d hear how my mother cried for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me
I know I’m praying for much too much
But could you send back the only man she loved
I know you don’t do it usually
But dear Lord she’s dying
To dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream

Crimes of the Century - No. 21 - The Versace Killing Spree, 1997
The Versace Killing Spree, 1997
Today's crime of the century was just horrible. It was all over the news - one, because the killer was gay, two, because the victim was a famous fashion designer and three, because he started killing everyone in his path. Can you imagine if someone tried killing Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein or Giorgio Armani today.
While the article by TIME (below) gives insight into the crime, you can also go here to read the drama as it unfolded during those awful three months in 1997.
***
Dismissed by his mother as a "high class male prostitute" and defended
by his father as an "altar boy," Andrew Cunanan is indelibly cast in
popular memory as the drug-using gay spree killer with AIDS, even though
no one is certain what drugs he was on, if any, during his murderous
three month rampage in 1997 or even if he had been properly tested for
HIV before or after his death. Starting out in California, he would kill
five people in all: two former lovers, both in Minnesota; a rich man in
Chicago from whom he stole a Lexus; a cemetery caretaker in New Jersey,
from whom he took a pick-up truck, fearing that police were on to the
Lexus; and, most infamously, he killed the glitzy fashion designer
Gianni Versace in Miami. Cunanan, 27, finally killed himself in an
unoccupied houseboat not two miles away from the scene of his last
crime. From what is known of him, he liked to embellish his biography,
loved to spend money he did not have and learned to deal drugs. He was
fueled by envy, obsessed with status and fame. That, combined with the
realization that his looks were failing — and thus his marketability to
rich gay men — may have led to a panic. But only Cunanan knew for
certain what his motives were. The high life can produce very low forms
of existence.

Are People Really This Stupid? Issue No. 34 - My Boo Caught Me Sleepin'
Earlier this week it was a hot mess for some teenagers who posted pics of themselves online with their dead relatives in the background. But now I'm left wondering if this was a mess at all, or Are People Really This Stupid? Seriously?
Take a look at these geniuses as a their "Bae, Babe, Baby, Boo" take their pics while sleeping. Ahhhhh, the joy of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.etc. Thank God, these didn't exist when I was a teenager, LOL.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Different
What if things were a little "Different" and instead of gays being discriminated against, it were straight people - In our churches, schools, and our daily lives?
Justin has a secret crush on Joanne, a girl he wants to invite to the prom; Unbeknownst to him, she already has a date with another girl from school (a cover). Meanwhile the quarterback of the football team, Bobby, thinks Justin is playing hard to get. But the fact is, Justin is straight and in the closet. Later, things start to get ugly when Justin gets caught sneaking a kiss from Joanne.
Today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break was the winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Student Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2004. While I usually find myself saying to "enjoy" today's feature - not so sure about this one, but it's one that makes you look at things a little bit "Differently".

Dexter's Excuses Supercut (NSFW)
Showtime released a video of Dexter's excuses over the last 7 seasons. Can you beat them all? Probably not, but one thing I'll definitely miss about this show is Deb's crazy cuss words. And yes, the video is NSFW, because of the explicit language - so put some headphones or something.
