“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Gay Power!

"Hey Peter, when you mention "Gay Power" in your blogs what the hell does that mean?"

That was a comment from one of my readers after reading the statement on one of my posts.

Okay, Anonymous commenter, here's your answer...

For my partner, Ryan and I, it is a voice of reason for the few and the proud.  This is something we usually do when we know there's "family" (gay slang for "He's a member of the family. He's gay."), on reality shows or elsewhere.  This is our way of cheering for those few gays who make it through to the next round of a show, or already part of one.

For example, we screamed, and yelled "Gay Power" on June 9, 2011, when Daniel Joseph Baker from Katy, Texas appeared on the show, America's Got Talent.  He stunned the audience with his rendition of Lady Gaga's, "Bad Romance."  He did exceptionally well.  Prior to his performance, we already knew he was Gay - you could only tell.  As soon as the judges revealed their score, and we knew he was making it to the next round, Ryan and I looked at each other, and screamed, "Yay - Gay Power!"

Had he not made it through, we would have no one to yell, "Gay Power" to.  It's just a form of celebration or statement indicating we have gays "in the house." The aforementioned "house" meaning "show" or "competition."

There's times we don't scream, "Gay Power," but we use it in regular conversation, "There sure is a lot of Gay Power on that show." In reference to a show having many gays on it.  In a perfect example, this year's Season 8 of So You Think You Can Dance has a lot of Gay Power on it.  It does, trust me. LOL.

Well, I hope you got your daily laugh of the day.  I just had to explain it in the best way possible :-)

Good explanation my love. You do have a lot of GAY posts on here with language and terms that might not be too familiar with everyone that reads your blogs and just might want to know more. You should have a Gay Dictionary blog that helps define gay slang for every viewers. From Twinks to Queens to oh so many Ru Paul references, I really think it'd be a hit! Love you bunches. Oh and GAY POWER! :)
