“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

80 Mayors - One Purpose - Marriage Equality

The video your about to see makes me proud to be an American, proud to be a Texan, and proud to be Gay.  It not only shows the amount of strength, love and conviction these mayors have set forth to accomplish.  But their support and compassion makes all the difference in the world.

I love my Ryan, he is the epitome of perfection in my eyes.  My love for him and what we do with our home, our family and our future is ours and ours alone - not yours.  All we want is to be treated fairly, just like you, and everyone else.

Last Friday, 80 mayors from across the United States stood alongside those of New York (Michael Bloomberg), Boston (Thomas M. Menino), Houston (Annise Parker), San Diego (Jerry Sanders) and Los Angelese (Antonio Villaraigosa) as the five mayors of five great cities released a statement:

"In affirmation of the critical role that cities and their mayors have played in advancing civil rights and equal treatment for all Americans, we are proud to be chairs of Mayors for the Freedom to Marry. Mayors for the Freedom to Marry is a broad-based and nonpartisan group of mayors who believe that all people should be able to share in the love and commitment of marriage.

As mayors of five of America’s great cities, we understand that the strength and health of our cities are enhanced when all families are protected and supported. We know many people in loving and committed same-sex relationships who are active participants in improving our communities and we’ve seen how important marriage has been for them and their families.

We are honored to lead this bipartisan group of mayors who support ending marriage discrimination at all levels of government. While we will each have different strategies for pursuing that end, we all agree on the goal: securing the freedom to marry and upholding equal rights for all citizens.

We are a diverse group of mayors—from cities in Kansas, Indiana and West Virginia, to the four largest cities in America. Our cities are culturally, racially and geographically diverse, but we share one important value: a common commitment to fairness.

We invite our colleagues to join us in signing this statement as we advocate for the freedom to marry and build a nation where all loving couples who want to make the life-long commitment can share in the joy and respect of marriage.

Sincerely, Michael Bloomberg, Thomas M. Menino, Annise Parker, Jerry Sanders, Antonio Villaraigosa - Freedom To Marry

I love you with all my heart, body and soul. You're so sweet my angel and I can't wait to one day walk down the isle with you and accept your hand in marriage. Now is the time for marriage equality. It is no longer the taboo topic it once was despite the ever strong opposition to it that there will always be. Two or more states like Washington and Maryland could have marriage equality this year, and with the possibility of Obama announcing his evolution on marriage equality in, my guess, June, the battle for full equality will be even closer in our grasp. Sure Texas might be one of those last states to eventually see it, but I can wait. As long as I get to have my dream wedding with you, it doesn't matter if Rick Perry and his idiot conservatives disapprove. I love you no matter what and after we get our new home, we will have the most amazing ceremony that anyone, gay or straight, will ever experience. Love you bunches.

I have organized my blogs with 3 days worth of postings, so if you wish to continue reading the days before that, and so forth and so forth, you can click the "Older Posts" button /\ /\ /\ right /\ up there.
