Oh now ... come on! You have to have been living in a cave to think this would have ended any differently than it did that night. Why the big surprise? And really, who cares about the reasoning and the deal. All I wanted to know ... as I watched Anderson on Friday ... was: when is he going to announce he's headed to CNN? I was almost waiting for Anderson to spit out an on-air job offer.
"Please Keith, come to us at CNN. We have the space, and everyone knows, we desperately need your ratings! There is only so much Piers Morgan and I can do!"
It really is a no-brainer.
MSNBC is no longer an option, and clearly Fox News and Keith want no part of each other, and I am pretty sure TBS isn't going to rescue him, as they did Conan. A CNN and Keith marriage makes perfect sense. Where else is there for him to go? CNN must be his next spot, don't you think?
Looking at the CNN evening line-up it seems he could easily push out Parker/Spitzer for that 8 p.m. slot. I mean listen, business is business and the numbers are the numbers and the reality is that Olbermann's numbers blow out every single one of CNN's shows. Even Keith's 11pm re-air beats their prime-time line-up.
Regardless of whether you like Keith or not, regardless of whether he is an easy person to work with or not, he will anchor again — because he's got what it takes to bring in the viewers.
Here is his good-bye from Friday night:
Do you think he's heading to CNN?

MSNBC has no balls, just like the majority of democrats in our government, just saying. Keith Olbermann was our Glenn Beck, in that he was our extreme left, only he made sense and wasn't a paranoid idiot, though that's up to anyone's opinion. He stood up for many individuals when no one else would, he fought hard for causes that needed attention when CNN and other networks wouldn't cover it, and most of all he called out people that needed to be called out and put in their place. This just proves how conservative this country really is when nut jobs like Glenn Beck can entertain people with puppets and a chalk board while promoting lies and fear just to get ratings and people love it, but when a commentator actually makes sense, fights for causes and people and does his best to acknowledge how truly messed up some individuals on the other side are he gets told to shut up or leave. Keith wouldn't do that and he wouldn't stop fighting for us all. Just listen to any of his special comments that he poured his heart into and please tell me that you aren't moved in one way or another. I cried when he stood up for gay marriage and scolded those who lead the charge of Prop 8. I as well as many others learned of the free health clinics that work hard everyday to save lives. I also would have never known how hypocritical and outrageous some politicians and pundits truly are if he would have never of informed us. His special comments, interviews, as well as comical moments from worst person in the world to his "oddball" videos and reports is what made his show what it was, as well as his positive personality and beliefs. Loosing Keith Olbermann is a tragedy and a major loss for everyone, especially his viewers. Our hopes now rely on his young protege Rachel Maddow, but who knows how long it will be before she's told to tone it down or shut up and leave. We can only hope for the best and continue to stand up for people and fight back as Keith did every night on his show. I don't know if CNN will take him. They may even be too conservative for him but who knows. I'm distraught and pissed about what has happened, but grateful and appreciative for the time that was granted to Keith to share his beliefs with us as well as to fight for what he believed in. Where other commentators only want to do worse by spreading lies, creating fear and hate to raise ratings, no matter how impassioned Keith got he always discouraged violence, verified what he what saying and corrected it if it was wrong and did his best to share his positive beliefs with us every night at 7pm. He didn't need a chalk board and puppets to fill his time slot, his priceless information did just that, unfortunately for us it looks like that's not what keeps your show alive nowadays. That's just not what people want, and that truly makes me sad. Where's Rachel Maddow when I need her?
To the Edward R. Murrow of our generation, I can only say what you have thoughtfully wished us all every night before signing off: Good Night, and Good Luck. We will truly miss you as our voice, our defender and as our friend. For what you have done and what you will hopefully continue to do, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
