“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Flashback to the 1970's

Today's flashback takes us back to 1979, when a one hit wonder was released and managed to remain a hit up until this day.  It was most recently used in one of mine and Ryan's favorite games, Just Dance by Nintendo.

My mom was in the kitchen cooking as my sister and I played around the house (more than likely on the floor playing jacks), or playing school. I know, we were strange like that.  But the one thing I most definitely remember, (I may still have this 45 RPM record; If I don't, my sister does) is watching my mom dancing to "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward.  She wasn't hopping and dancing all around like most of us probably do, LOL, she was just swaying her hips back and forth as she was making us carne guisada, frijoles and homemade tortillas, LOL.  And in yellow short ,shorts to say the least. Lordy!

Courtesy of Wikipedia, the song was originally written for Stacy Lattisaw, but when she signed with a different label, Ward was asked to sing it instead and it became her only major hit.  "Ring My Bell" went to number one on both the Billboard Hot 100, and soul singles chart.  It also reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. "Ring My Bell" has been covered by many artists since its original release, including DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Ann Lee, Tori Amos, Blood Sisters, Dynamic Duo, Collette, Saïan Supa Crew, INOJ, Pato Fu, Joey Boy, and Sxip Shirey. It has also been remixed many times and is considered a disco-era classic.

Let's take a flashback and listen to a song near the end of our Disco Era...
