What Cowboy Hat Are You Wearing?

If you live in Houston and the surrounding area, you know what's happening tonight.  Lady Antebellum is rocking the stage tonight.  But it's more than just concerts galore for 3 weeks straight.  It's the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!  Which by the way is the world's largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition.

If you're out and about you may notice the various cowboy hats people are wearing.  Ever wonder what type of cowboy hat a particular person was sporting?  Well, now you can with this handy little chart.  10 hats - 10 styles, check them out.

Heartbreak Mountain

I never really liked the movie Brokeback Mountain, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger.  I guess being a gay man I should have, but it just didn't do anything for me.  Hell, I have more straight friends than gay ones who loved the movie more than Ryan or myself.  I don't know, maybe I need to watch it again or something.

In either case, the reason for this post is.... I came across a fan-made video of the movie with Adele's song, "Someone Like You" used as the backdrop.  And I'd have to say I was drawn to it, hence the reason for my blog title, Heartbreak Mountain.  You have to watch it to understand what I'm talking about.

Being that this weekend will put an end to this year's Houston's Livestock Show & Rodeo, I thought I would pay a small tribute to all the cowboys out there.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Tribute - Issue No. 1

Being that yesterday was the 1st day of  Houston's Livestock Show & Rodeo, and will be for the next 19 days, I thought I would pay a small tribute to all the cowboys out there.

The Question Is... Will This Cowboy Be There?

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, with attendance approaching over two and a half million visitors per year, is the world's largest livestock exhibition as well as the world's largest rodeo event, requiring the support of sixteen thousand volunteers.

Traditional trail rides, which start in central Texas and end in Houston, precede the Rodeo events. The three-week long event is held at Reliant Park in Houston, Texas and features bull riding, livestock judging, concerts, a parade, a carnival, trail rides, barbecue and wine competitions, shopping, sales, and auctions.

It has drawn some of the world's biggest recording artists, including Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Selena, Bon Jovi, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others.
