It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. Politics 101: It's Not All About Iowa

I just love how all the news is focused on Iowa today, and will be for the next several days until New Hampshire.  But is it really that important?  Is it as important as the media and your neighbors make it out to be?  NO.  That's a big N-O to all you Republicans.  And Democrats for that matter.

You want to know when all of this started?  When Jimmy Carter won the Democratic caucuses in Iowa in 1976, and ever since then these candidates have been hoping for the same thing.  But I don't remember hearing of a President Huckabee, President Dole, President Gephardt, or President Harkin, do you?

Furthermore, Iowa does not reflect the rest of America.  When the total population of Iowa is 96% white, 2% black, 1% Asian and 1% Hispanic you do not resemble America.  Adding to the absurdity, you have 60% of that population being mega-religious and a majority of them over the age of 50 or 60.  And with only 30% of Iowans expected at these Caucuses, how is this a reflection of America?  There is no comparison.

So, while I'm sitting at home watching all this mess, I'll be laughing quietly, because whoever wins will probably never make it past 2012.  It's about the rest of the nation, people.  It's not about Iowa.  Why do you think all these other states are moving their caucuses and primaries up?  They want to feel important too.  Oh. And by the way there are 49 other states who also want to play a part in the democratic process.

Updated Resolutions For 2012

So let's take out our New Year's Resolutions list from 2009, and update it once again.  This pic is too hilarious, but oh so true.  This happens way to often. I especially love number 5, "be nicer to wife" in 2009, insert "try to" be nicer to wife in 2010, and insert "ex" wife in 2012.  LMAO.

Laugh of the Day: Death

It's time for your laugh of the day!!!

Imagine yourself standing in line at a store register.  You look up at the security monitor, and you think you've seen it, but you're not quite sure.  You look up again, and there he is.  Death staring right at you.  Omg, hilarious!

If The World Were A Village of 100 People: Issue No. 18 - Computers

Wow, I can't believe that I'm almost done with this series.  This is the 18th poster and 18th week out 20 that I've been posting them.

Every week I have been blogging about the posters designed by Toby Ng, where he took statistics based on the spread of the population in the world today and translated those statistics into a town of 100 people.

So you'd ask yourself, "What if the world were a village of 100 people?" And these posters would answer that question in a much more simpler way.

In my humble opinion I think these posters would be a great educational tool.  Great to share with your kids or a classroom.

Our Future Is In Their Hands - Take 7

I'm over here LMAO, and I really shouldn't be.  But Jesus Christ, did he really have to slap his brother with an iPad?  Was that really necessary?  Granted, the boy who got slapped kept egging him on and on, but damn, when you watch this video you will see what I'm talking about.  Our future is in their hands, remember that. LOL.

Loving One Another - Issue No. 004

On December 10, 2011, I introduced my "Loving One Another" series to my BLADE 7184 readers, and I have been posting an issue every Monday since then.

I initially started this series in 2007 on Peter's Daily Blog on MySpace.  Later, as the issues progressed I included a quote along with each photo, much the same way as my Kiss of the Week series.

Set Fire To The Rain

How logical is Adele's song,"Set Fire To The Rain?" You all know how much I love her, but this comic is funny as hell.

2012 & The End Of The World

One of my favorite educational resources is back, CGPGrey.  And this time he talks to us about "2012 & The End Of The World."  Why do people believe in this false prophecy, and where is it derived from?
Last year he taught us about Coffee: The Greatest Addiction Ever, Daylight Saving Time, and why pennies should be abolished.  If you haven't seen the previous videos, check them out - click on these links.

Toilet Gamer

Okay, even this a stretch, but would my Ryan do this if he could?  Honestly?  I few years ago I think he probably would have.  I can almost bet he took his portable to the potty.  Didn't you my angel?. LOL.

Laugh of the Day: Whose Dog Is This?

Let's start off the new year figuring out whose dog was left at a table outside a cafe. I mean, "if the Titanic was sinking right there, would you just ignore it?"

The next time you go out to eat don't leave your dog "tied to a piece of metal" while you enjoy your food.  You may end up losing it.  Omg, this video is hilarious.  Ryan and I may have to start watching this show.  And I thought Modern Family was funny.

Our 2012 Milestones - Happy New Year!

First and foremost, I want to thank God for another wonderful year of my life.  I believe in His awesomeness while others will have you believe otherwise.

Being gay is a gift from God, and I truly believe He wouldn't have allowed my mother to carry me to full term if He was the hateful being some Christians portray him to be.  Thank you God, I love you!

Thank you for allowing me be with the man I most admire in this world, my partner Ryan.  He has been my sole companion for the past 6-1/2 years and I could never have asked for a better person in my life.  The year 2012 is going to be a huge blessing for us.   We will reach two milestones we have never faced in our lifetime.

First and foremost, celebrating our 7 year anniversary - something we both have never done.  My two longest relationships were each 4 years long, and I never would have imagined that the third time around would have been a charm.  And a charm he was.  I love you Ryan!  Just goes to show that meeting someone online and falling in love is possible.

The second milestone in our lives will be in late June or early July when Ryan and I will officially be out of credit card debt.  Now, this may not seem like a big deal for most of you, but for us it is.  Since we've been together we have amassed over $60,000 in credit card debt.  Don't get us wrong, we don't regret spending any of it, there was good in all of this.  We wouldn't have what we have today, if we didn't have the use of a credit card at our disposal.  The majority of that money was invested in the remodeling of our home and the purchases we made throughout the years to make our home beautiful inside and out.  In either case, to say we will not shed tears come June or July is an understatement.  This is a big deal for us.  We will shed tears, because for the first time in our lives every bit of cash we garner from work will go towards building our future home, our eventual marriage and fulfilling our dream of spending the rest of our lives together.

I would also like to take this time to wish a Happy New Year to our loving families, both of who support mine and Ryan's relationship, our dear friends (you know who you are), the readers of my blog, my co-workers, and to all the people on Facebook who have taken the time to say hi, wished me happy birthday, and became friends with me even if they had no clue who I was. :-)

May God Bless all of you in 2012!  Happy New Year!

Crimes of the Century - No. 5 - The Black Dahlia

THE BLACK DAHLIA, 1947

Set in the post-war Los Angeles boom, the unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short is a cautionary tale about big cities, America's peripatetic population and the dangers of the new vast urban landscapes of the nation.

On Jan. 15, 1947, a severely mutilated, naked body, sliced in half at the waist and a grotesque grimace carved into her face, was found not far from Hollywood. The corpse was that of 22-year-old Short, who had moved to California to from the East Coast to pursue an acting career but ended up serving tables. Reporters gave her the nickname "Black Dahlia," perhaps inspired by the recently released Blue Dahlia, a film in the Hollywood noir style about a fighter bomber accused of the death of his faithless wife. (Short had been engaged to a major in U.S. Air Force but he died in a plane crash in August 1945.)

The case generated a huge list of potential suspects and possible motives, as well as urban legends about the victim's sexual and moral proclivities. With its morbid air of noir nostalgia, the Black Dahlia has also inspired a large number of novels and movies over the years.

***
I find it ironic that Ryan and I just finished watching the first season American Horror Story, and Short was one of the people who were murdered in the haunted house.  If you haven't seen the show, the first season is about a house haunted by ghosts of previously murdered victims, and among the people murdered in the show was Short, played by Mena Suvari.   In one of the episodes she supposedly died accidentally from anesthesia as she was sexually assaulted by a dentist who previously lived in the home. The body was later dismembered by a ghosts.

In the coming weeks, as you read through the 25 crimes Time Magazine has selected, you will wonder which of them will remain in the popular, perhaps even the artistic imagination in the years to come? How will they be retold and with what kinds of lessons and cautions in mind?  Visit my blog every Saturday as a new crime will be posted each week.

Movies to Watch - Game Change

I'm sure all of you know by now I'm a political junkie, and that nothing pleases me more than to piss off Gay Republicans (oxy), or Republicans in general.  haha, but I still love ya! :-).  I'm just kidding.

Everyone has their views, and I respect that. So long as it doesn't constitute using vulgar words or calling each other names. I'm cool with debating religion or politics.  I enjoy it.

My only thing is...

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!

A couple of weeks ago HBO released their teaser for it's upcoming adaptation of Mark Halperin and John Heilemann's book Game Change, and it seems like it's going to be a thriller of a movie.  Just so you know, Mark Halperin was suspended in 2004 from MSNBC for calling President Obama "a dick" on the Morning Joe show.  Regardless, the movie is about all the inside information Mark received from the McCain and Palin camps during the 2008 Presidential campaign.  And it doesn't look very good for Sarah Palin.  I'm thinking she won't be portrayed very nicely.  The movie stars Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Ed Harris as John McCain, Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt and many others.

While the book does mention the Hillary Clinton-Barack Obama primary fight, their story is not in this movie.  This is more about what transpired when McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Must Watch: Move

Earlier in the year, actor Andrew Lees took a trip, and it wasn't just any 'ol small trip.  He took a 38,000 mile, 18 flight journey across 11 countries over a period of 44 days.  The short film below is titled "Move," and it's quite entertaining. Take a look.

From Vimeo description:
3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage... all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ....into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films..... [source]

WHAT-A-RECIPE - Spaghettos

I'm so definitely trying this recipe at home.  No, these are not "Spaghettios," these are Spaghettos!

You make these tasty treats by simply jabbing dry spaghetti noodles into hot dog chunks and boiling them until the pasta is limp. And don't throw out the water – the petite-flower, giver-goddess comic Judy Tenuta calls it hot dog soup. [source]
