Things That Make You Go Hmmm... Texas vs. Chile
I've known this for a long time, but just in case none of my fellow Texans knew...
We not only stole the flag design from Chile, we stole their damn motto too. LMAO.

Chilean Flag |
In order for Texas to differinteate itself from Chile, they made their star bigger and the blue extend from top to bottom on the left hand side.

Texan Flag |
As for the motto, Chile's "La Estrella Solitaria", is "The Lone Star" in English.
And we are????
The Lone Star State - go figure.
Now that is something to really make you go, "hmmm".

Yes but our state is actually shaped like a star! Lol
^uhm, no
LOL, Carmela really?
Yes really, closer to a star than Chile
neither Texas nor Chile look anything like a star
When Texas was part of Mexico it was part of the state of Coahuila y Tejas and that flag had 2 stars on it. When Texas gained its independence in 1836 it retained the same flag minus a star representing the split from mexico giving it the nickname, 'Lone Star State'! So that's a bit of history on how that came about.
LOL, regardless of history - it doesn't discount the fact that Chile was around before "Tejas" and we stole their design, and their motto The Lone Star. I mean c'mon, these new Texans should have gone with a different idea. LOL.
The thing is, back then, I really don't think Texans knew much about Chile. The world was a much bigger place then than it is now. I'm just glad I live here in the Lone Star State!!
That's for sure, I'd freeze in the northern states. lol
