Top Secret Drum Corps
This is for anyone who has ever seen a drum corp performance, are fascinated by them, or have performed in one. I found the video below rather entertaining and a joy to watch. Being that I have family and friends who have either played in a drum corp or high school marching band, I felt compelled to blog about it.
The Top Secret Drum Corps were asked to perform at the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo last year, and have played in several venues, including the United States, Australia and Europe. According to online sources, Top Secret has its roots in the rich drumming traditions of the band's home city, Basel, Switzerland, which is known for its annual carnival called Fasnacht. Too cool, Fasnacht is my sister's last name.
The drum corp, which has become world renowned are made up of factory workers, students, teachers, farmers, regular folks like you and I. Simply amazing.

I'd Rather Buy 45 Hammers At A Dollar Store Than Spend $45 On A Nickeback Ticket...
Damn, it sure must suck to be Nickelback or it may suck to be Josh Gross - take your pick. Lol. Obviously the Boise, Idaho Newspaper writer isn't a fan of the the band.

Album Cover Parodies
What if comic book characters were used as famous album covers? Well, they would probably look something like this..
German artist Uwe de Witt over at Deviant Art, created these pretty fabulous parodies. He also has a great blog, Spacelord, you can check out as well. I especially love Dr. Strange Pink Floyd

Blade's Box of Jams: Track #11 - We Are Young
Currently listening to...
fun.
It doesn't matter what people say online, everyone who saw Glee last night was introduced to a song they never heard before, or if they did, never really paid attention to it until they watched last night's episode.
The reason artists agree to have their songs sung by the cast of Glee is for exposure. Whether its a legend, or an up and coming artist, they all want it. Imagine all the purchases made through iTunes last night. One you tube commenter wrote, "Yeah glee brought me here as well. Like both versions, prefer this version. Bought all three. love Jannelle Monae. Love fun. Love glee."I'll be honest, the moment I finished hearing Glee's version of the song, I researched it and found the original. "We Are Young" is sung by the band fun.; It is an American indie pop band based in New York City. Feel free to join their Facebook or Twitter here. You can also catch last night's performance by Glee after the jump. But for now, let's listen and watch the moving video by fun.
For those of you who are saying "why did I just spend 4:11 minutes watching?' You watched a moving piece of art. It is showing us, as old (the apple) and tonight we are going to be young. As we grow old, we retain the youth inside us and tonight it comes out. We shed (or cut) off that skin and show off our youth once more. That is what the video is about. It's telling us, no matter how old you are, tonight, we are young. So let's set the world on fire, we can burn brighter than the sun. Tonight - Cynix7
Glee's version of the song was very emotional for both Ryan and I, because we know the characters of the show, and what they're going through. So for us, it is going to be bittersweet to see some of them go at the end of the season. The version after the jump introduced us to another fabulous artist, and for that we are grateful.

Must Watch: Everyday We're Shuffling....
For all you Drum Corps and Marching Band fans, the Ohio University’s Marching band performed LMFAO’s ”Party Rock Anthem,” during their half-time show last Saturday in Athens, Ohio.
I absolutely loved it! For all you folks that don't know, I dated a girl who played an instrument in High School, so marching bands hold a special place in my heart. My high school marching band was very competitive when I was growing up. Our band always got a 1 in district competitions, and when I was there, it was like 30 or so years the band had earned them in a row. They were so close to winning several state competitions when I was in school.
Added to my fascination with marching bands, my current partner, Ryan was in a high school marching band, and one of our best friends, Michael is a Colorguard Director for a school near Houston, TX.

Blade's Box of Jams: Track #8 - 7 Minutes In Heaven
Currently listening to...
School Boy Humor
I came across this group on Facebook and I'd have to say, OMG! These guys are hot! Of course their bodies caught my attention, because who doesn't like looking at guys with hot bodies? But that's besides the point.
School Boy Humor is a group from Arkansas created by twin brothers, Phil and Anthony Evans. They write their own music and recently released their latest hit, "7 Minutes In Heaven". Check out the track below, and as an added treat there are some really hot pics of the twins after the jump.

Blade's Box of Jams: Track #7 - Party Rock Anthem
Another fantastic summer hit that made it into my box of jams. I love this song, it really gets your day going. The video below was the commercial of the night during the MTV Music Video Awards this past Sunday.
First they drove. Then they rapped. Now they're dancing (to LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem). But they're not doing any old dance. They're shuffling. And they're doing it harder, faster and better than any hamster has ever shuffled before. Here is the encore presentation.
and here is the best part of the official music video...

The Video Game Marching Band
Let's see... this was shot in 2007, so most of you were still in high school or in your twenties. Regardless of the year, the Cal vs. Stanford game produced a marching band performance so spectacular, it was absolutely fantastic!
The Cal Band's halftime performance was based on a video game theme that featured games in the likes of Tetris, Mortal Kombat, Mario, and more. It's times like these that make me really miss High School and College.
