Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Living Lives

In today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break, two adolescents deal with one of the hardest things in high school: being gay. The couple's strength is tested when their sexuality is exposed to the entire school. One of them is willing to come out, the other wants to deny everything and keep it a secret. The very validity of their relationship hangs in the balance..

I hope you're enjoying the return of Saturday Morning Coffee Break and take the time to watch these.  Most of them are really short and to the point.

So grab you cup of Java, watch and relax.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: 41 Seconds

I posted this German short film on my old blog in 2008 and I thought I'd share it.  It's short, humorous, and pretty hot at the same time.

Today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break is about two best friends (supposedly straight), who have a kissing dilemma.  The blonde boy is dating a girl who just finished telling him his best friend (the brunette), kisses better than he does.

So he calls him up and discusses this with him...  what ensues is a kiss 41 seconds long!

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: The Closet

Today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break is another great film I posted back in 2009 on Peter's Daily Blog.  At under 3 minutes, the film is really strong and shows how a short film such as this can still make quite an impact.

I fell in love with it then and still in love with it now.
In the film an old man recalls the moment that defined his life, in which his attraction and friendship with a neighboring boy is crushed by the boy's homophobic father.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Different

What if things were a little "Different" and instead of gays being discriminated against, it were straight people - In our churches, schools, and our daily lives?
Justin has a secret crush on Joanne, a girl he wants to invite to the prom; Unbeknownst to him, she already has a date with another girl from school (a cover).  Meanwhile the quarterback of the football team, Bobby, thinks Justin is playing hard to get.  But the fact is, Justin is straight and in the closet.  Later, things start to get ugly when Justin gets caught sneaking a kiss from Joanne.

Today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break was the winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Student Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2004.  While I usually find myself saying to "enjoy" today's feature - not so sure about this one, but it's one that makes you look at things a little bit "Differently".

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Who We Are

Good morning readers, it's time for yet another Saturday Morning Coffee Break so grab your java, sit down and watch this great short movie.  The following movie was filmed in 2009 and released in 2010.

For those who have never seen it, here's a short synopsis.  And yes, it does have a happy ending.
Who We Are explores the relationship between two best friends who find themselves struggling to hold onto their friendship while dealing with the feelings they have for one another. Alex (Taylor Caldwell), an openly gay high school student, tries to rebuild his relationship with his best friend Michael (Justin Fix), after revealing to Michael he has feelings for him. When Michael reluctantly decides to attend a 'Gay-Straight-Alliance' meeting Alex, he reaches a new state of understanding and level of acceptance for Alex. Michael's parents (John Patrick Kelly & Kim Reed) battle between accepting what they're religion suggests, and opening their minds to accepting people for who they are. The film captures the societal hardships many homosexuals face and a story of love without boundaries.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Bucket List Night

So this week I thought I'd pull away from the norm and show a comedic short with gay undertones.  Grab your Java, sit back and enjoy this week's Saturday Morning Coffee Break!

Soren and Dan are your quintessential straight best friends who sit down to go over each other's "Bucket List".  Unbeknownst to them they learn things about one another they probably wished they'd never known. LOL.

For those who don't know what a bucket list is; It's a list of things you wish to do before you die, hence the idiom "kicked the bucket"Check it out, it's pretty funny.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Silver Road

It's time to brew yourself some coffee, kick-back, relax and watch another issue of Saturday Morning Coffee Break.

I posted this video on MySpace four years ago, and the issue focuses on two young men, Danny and Mark who have been friends all their lives until one day they find themselves in the awkward position of saying goodbye to one another.

While many may argue that there's already too many films where one guy  comes out and destroys a friendship - it still happens.  It still happens because our society allows it to happen.  Yes, it's getting easier and easier to come out as each year passes, but there are millions who are still keeping this tiny little secret - and some way into their marriages.  The film, written and directed by Bill Taylor is really good, and I encourage anyone to watch it.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: James

Today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break is quite powerful.  After watching the film for the first time I was quite upset, but after watching it a second time I came to understand it's sad reality.  I can't remember the amount of times I wish I could find someone to help me.  I prayed to God every night hoping he would "fix" me - And never got an answer.  I felt ashamed for being who I was and didn't know how to tell my parents.  As each year passed the hope never came, and telling my parents became an even harder taskI didn't tell my parents until I was 25 years old, and upon learning the news they were devastated.  Not only because I kept this secret for so long, but the fact I went to others thinking it would help me, and all they did was use me for their gratification.

There's a lot I want to say about the short movie you're about to see, but I don't want to spoil it or give a way it's plot.  I would like to hear any of your comments and maybe then I can voice my opinion.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: The Young Prime Minister

I haven't posted a Saturday Morning Coffee Break since June of last year, and since I'm back in gear with my blogging, there's no time like the present to return.

June's issue was a major tear-jerker, because it was a true story.  And while this one may be fictional - it happens in real life.

Some of us boys grew up in major cities, small towns, or even a farm.  And no matter where we were born, there was always that one little boy who wanted to wear those pink shoes or pink shirt, and when he did - all hell broke loose.

But not this time!

This is a cute short - hope you enjoy.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: The Defenders

How would you feel if someone put your marriage up for a vote?

Time go grab your cup of java and enjoy today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break

Today's short film is another great piece of work from Keith Hartman.  You may remember him from my blog on February 11th, titled "The License".  The film was amazing - if you haven't seen it make sure you check it out.

"The Defenders" in much the same way as "The License" is too close to reality to be funny.  It actually sends a highly effective message on the hypocrisy of those who would deny equal rights to men and women who want to get married, no matter who they are. You have to remember, "knee-jerk" reactions are the province of frightened and uninformed people. I believe that any heart can be softened with the right touch, and that we must counter the fear tactics being employed by proponents of those who wish to rob us of our future.

This short, three minute film proves that none of us are immune to discrimination which is often taken to an ugly extreme. We are all the same--gay, straight, bi, parents, children, brothers, sisters, and spouses. Our blood runs red, and our eyes weep tears. We are everyone. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. This is a definite must watch!

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Hitchcocked

I know it's been a few weeks since I posted my first issue, but it's time for your Saturday Morning Coffee Break, and if this video isn't steamy enough for you, there's always Corbin Fisher or BelAmi - this isn't porn, what's wrong with you?!?! LOL.

In the hottest gay short I've posted to date, Al and Fred discover that online hookups can be lots of fun... until somebody gets hurt.

Though brief, this hot, casual-sex encounter stirs up some surprising truths about Internet-dating, love, life... and death.

I Want To Know What It's Like

These outstanding men and women want to know what it's like to feel wanted, loved, and accepted.  And quite frankly so do I.  What is it like to feel like I belong, to feel like I'm strong, that who I am isn't wrong?  What is it like to not feel like a freak, weak, or to be silenced when I speak?  These are the words echoed throughout this short film by Ryan James Yezak.  And what an amazing film it is.

Yezak has released a series of inspiring short films over the last few weeks in reference to his new documentary "Second Class Citizens" and his latest film below is no exception.  Each of these films leaves the viewer with an overwhelming feeling, that we as Americans deserve to be heard, deserve to love who we love, that we matter in a country that doesn't give equal protection under the law.  Thank you Ryan! I will continue to blog about your wonderful work so long as I live.
If you wish to support Ryan and his efforts to produce Second Class Citizens please find out how after the jump...

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: The License

"Now, did you bring your own rocks or did you need one of ours?  There'll be a small service charge for that."
At the end of the short film you're about to see, it asks, "Love, Trust, and Equality, shouldn't these be our traditions?"  And that's absolutely true!  Seeing the couples at the end of the video made me cry, and I'll tell you why.

Because every moment I saw those couples embrace, or kiss, you could see how much they loved each other in the same way I love my dear Ryan.  We are all loving people.  Why can't love conquer all?

The short film, written and directed by Keith Hartman from Los Angeles, California was filmed shortly after California banned same sex marriage in 2009, and it's a very poignant film.  It's about a straight couple who wishes to get married, and find out their relationship isn’t as "traditional" as they thought when they go in to get a marriage license.

You'll enjoy it, I assure you - it's a definite must watch!

Must Watch: Gay Baby

You all know how much I love my short films.  Well, I'm seriously thinking about bringing back an old series of mine called "Saturday Morning Coffee Break".  It was a series that ran every Saturday on "Peter's Daily Blog" on MySpace where I would usually post gay short films.  I posted some of the best films, and everyone looked forward to them each and every week.
Well today there's no exception, I have to post this great short film titled, "Gay Baby."  It is a definite 'Must Watch'.  It's about a couple who learns their unborn son is gay, and the father quickly gets disappointed. But no worries, the couple go to a baby store where they encounter a gay store clerk who tries to change the father's reaction from disappointment to excitement.  It's a really cute 6-1/2 minute film.  Like I mentioned earlier, it's a definite 'must watch'.
