If you're a fan of Mad Men, you'll definitely want to read the following conspiracy theories on Megan Draper's outfit last Sunday night. And they're just that - theories. Of course, the coincidences are right here, and there's no denying this could mean something big, especially since the series ends next year. Also, don't forget Stonewall happened in 1969... definitely something to make you go "hmmm... "
Thank you, James St. James over at WOW for sharing this amazing piece. I couldn't have said it better myself.
On Sunday night’s episode of Mad Men, Megan Draper wore what seemed like a weirdly anachronistic T-shirt with
a red star on it. Not her usual style, and more ’80s than ’60s. But
apparently the red star T-shirt was identical to one that Sharon Tate
wore in an infamous 1967 Esquire photograph taken by William Helburn (pictured left). Helburn’s daughter tweeted Mad Men’s
head costume designer, Janie Bryant, asking, “Dying to know if this pic
of Sharon Tate inspired Megan’s look? My dad shot it for @esquiremag in
‘67. ” Bryant confirmed: “No coincidence! So nice to tweet meet you.” Since the exchange, an entire Reddit thread
has formed, speculating about the symbolism of the shirt and any
foreshadowing it could have for Jessica Paré’s character. According to Vanity Fair:
“Like fictional Megan, Sharon Tate was an up-and-coming television
actress in the 1960s. While married to Roman Polanski and
eight-and-a-half-months pregnant with his child, Tate was murdered in
her home by Charles Manson followers. Earlier this season, Megan
admitted that she had suffered a miscarriage. While wearing the T-shirt
in last Sunday’s episode, Megan is standing on the balcony outside her
and Don’s Manhattan apartment while ambulance sirens ring out below — a
nod to the city’s increased crime rates, which are acknowledged many
times throughout the episode.” All of which could spell DOOM for poor
Megan. Jezebel‘s Tracy Egan Morrissey has another theory, though: “While costume design on Mad Men
has been as deliberate and layered as the writing on the show, the red
star could also be a red herring. After all, Tate wasn’t murdered until
1969, but something else happened to her 1968 — she got pregnant just as
her acting career was taking off.”
These drawings are just too cute. If you're a Mad Men fan you know who all the characters are. Artist, Jon Defreest created this for Vulture. And while you're at it, you may want to look at the Mad Men Barbies I posted last year.
I'm a huge Mad Men fan, and these barbies are just my favorite!!! Apart from the Lady Gaga barbies that came out a few years ago, these dolls are remarkably "spot-on" re-incarnations of their characters of the hit AMC show.
You have Fat Betty (who came out 50 lbs. heavier than in previous seasons), with her can of whipped cream that she devoured in an earlier episode. You have Megan Draper in her "Zou Bisou Bisou" dress she wore for Don's birthday surprise. Next, you have Roger Sterling holding his bastard son, and my favorite one of all, Joan Harris wearing the “emerald necklace of shame" a she pushes her baby carriage.

Luckily for Ryan and I, the television series, "Dallas" didn't ruin our lives, considering it was 13 seasons long! But then again, neither did "North and South", "Star Trek Voyager", "Dexter", "Queer As Folk", "Boston Legal" or "Mad Men". And two of these shows are still running.
But "Battlestar Galactica"on the other hand... That's a whole different ball game! I think if Ryan and I were to sit down and watch the first season, we'd lose our jobs, our utilities, and our home. We wouldn't be able to stop watching it from what I've heard.
Check out this hilarious take on what would happen to you if you started watching the series.
Earlier we learned that Mad Men's creator and writer went mad, and is not giving us any more episodes until the year 2012. Now I learn that Dexter has been pushed back a month, until October. Here we are (Ryan and I), waiting for another great season of Dexter (Season 6) to premiere in September, and now we have to wait another damn month!
This isn't about money, so I guess that makes me feel somewhat better.
Michael C. Hall sat alongside Sarah Silverman on their film's press day and answered a few questions about their new movie, Peep World. In it, he mentions that shooting for season 6 of Dexter wouldn't start till May and that it would air sometime around mid-October.
"I go back to Dexter in May, to start shooting Season 6. We’ll go until late October and the show will air in mid-October, or something like that."
So, I guess no Dexter till October, but that's okay, because mine and Ryan's friends have started watching Dexter as our regular Sunday showing since we finished watching Queer As Folk in February.
We continue this Sunday with the 3rd episode of Season One.
Can Matthew Weiner not ruin everyone's summer? What a damn weiner! ha ha. Fans, are going to be disappointed if they haven't read it yet, when they learn their popular time-period show, Mad Men doesn't return this summer. Yes, it's official, season 5 of Mad Men has been pushed back to 2012. WTF is the deal with all these losers who want more money, more deals, and less actors? The Writers and Producers should get together with the Owners and Managers of the NFL and write a movie together, and we'll title it, The End of Football.
For those of you who do not know about this show, Mad Men is set in 1960s America, and truly depicts the moods and social mores of the time. It has received critical acclaim, particularly for its historical authenticity and visual style, and has won multiple awards, including thirteen Emmys and four Golden Globes. It is the first basic cable series to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, winning it in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Ryan and I have been watching the 1st and 2nd season at a slow pace, which we will continue to do, now that we've learned they are not returning until the new year. Each season has 13 episodes, so that makes it easier for us.
