“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Movies to Watch: Les Misérables

I'm so excited about next Friday's "Must Watch" musical release of Rock of Ages.  I know, I know... I said back in March that I have never been more excited about a movie musical release than this movie, but I think I may have been a little presumptuous.

Last week Ryan showed me the trailer for a musical coming out this Christmas, and I can honestly say, I have never been more excited about a movie musical release than "Les Misérables".  When I saw the trailer I about died.  I swear, you'd think I was gay. Lol.

It stars an array of actors - Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen, Amanda Seyfried, Russell Crowe, and many many others.  It's absolutely ridiculous!  In a good way of course. :-)

Check it out... and don't cry at the same time...

Movies to Watch: Rock of Ages

What gay boy doesn't like movie musicals?  I can name one off the top of my head, but he shall remain nameless :-).

Of course, my most favorite movie musical of all time is Grease, but alongside that, I love The Little Shop of Horrors, West Side Story, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Evita, Nine, Moulin Rouge!, Chicago, Rent, Burlesque, and yes, even Grease 2.  And there's even the animated ones, but the list would be too long to proceed, so I'll get to the point I'm trying to make.

I can't say that I have ever been more excited about a movie musical release, than the one coming out this summer.  Honestly... I was too young to get excited about the release of Grease, and I waited patiently for the release of Burlesque on DVD to finally watch it.  But this summer, "Rock of Ages" is going to rock the hell out of movie theaters for the first time in a very looooooong time.  I'm super excited about this movie.  I guess because the genre of music is from the 80's and the cast singing them are going to be fantastic.  Rock of Ages is based on the Broadway musical of the same name.

Directed by So You Think You Can Dance judge, Adam Shankman, the movie stars Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Malin Ackerman, and features songs from Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, and many, many more!  How could this movie possibly go wrong?  Check out the superb cast and movie trailer below, and judge for yourself.  Will you be watching?

Gay Movies to Watch: Were The World Mine

If you could make anyone fall in love with anybody you desired, would you? And if said object of affection did happen to fall in love with you on account of (minor) interference with free-will, could you still call it love? An interesting dilemma indeed, yet one ultimately reserved to the realm of fantasy... in this case Were the World Mine protagonist Timothy's fantasy.

Ryan and I had the pleasure purchasing and watching this movie 2 years ago, and glad to say it's part of our DVD collection.  We've watched it countless times, and as you may have guessed, the scenes used in both these clips originate from Tom Gustafson's award winning film.

If you like gay movies and musicals, Were the World Mine is available on DVD and also can be directly downloaded using iTunes or Amazon's video-on-demand service.
