I'm so freaking excited for tonight's premiere of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Ryan and I watched Spartacus: Blood and Sand over the summer and simply loved it. Season One's finale was phenomenal and with the departure of Andy Whitfield as Spartacus I didn't think Season Two would ever come into existence. But news today in my Entertainment Weekly magazine (pg 30), the character has been cast. Liam McIntyre (The Pacific), which ironically enough, looks like Whitfield, will be reprising the role of Spartacus in season 2.
Supposedly Whitfield will appear in two episodes briefly in the prequel series which will depict the rise of the gladiator school or "ludus" known as the House of Batiatus (John Hannah). Lucy Lawless, along with other main characters from the show, also returns as Lucretia, Batiatus' wife.
