If this had been the semi-finals, Team Christina and Team Blake would have "owned" Team Cee Lo and Team Adam. I am shocked at the way these guys performed last night. They should have been the top two teams.
The two-hour episode started out with Carson Daly revealing the first 2 contestants who made it through to the semi-finals next week. Ryan and I laughed, because afterwards, Carson stated that it only took 5 minutes to reveal the results, when in reality, it was more like 13 minutes. Christina Aguilera just couldn't keep her damn mouth shut. As I predicted last week, Frenchie Davis and Beverly McClellan made it through, and you can easily see why by catching their performances right here.
At the end of the show, Blake Shelton learned his team's fate, and what seemed to be disappointed look on his face, when he found out America voted for Dia Frampton. I think he was upset with America choosing Dia, because he then had no chance of saving Xenia, whom you could tell in his heart of hearts, sees something in her that nobody else does. That was exactly what I told my partner, Ryan last week.
Blake knew Jared Blake and Patrick Thomas were great, but he shocked America last night by choosing the girl he loved most, Xenia. And I can't say I blame him, I would have done the exact same thing. Hey, at least I got 3 out of my 4 predictions correct - woo, hoo!
So just like last week....
Each of the contestants sang a solo performance, and then later in the evening, they performed as a group. In this particular case, it was Cee Lo and Adam Levine.
Only one person from each of the teams will be able to advance depending on the viewers votes, but another one will advance solely on the judge's discretion. What does all this mean? It means Cee Lo will lose half his team and Blake will lose half his team. I loved it last week, and I love it again this week.
As with Christina and Blake last week, the judges provided one-on-one coaching, and they spent some time getting to know their contestants. Cee Lo chilled at the spa with his team.
Watch the performances, and my reviews after the jump...
TEAM CEE LO was up first, and his first contestants were the annoying sisters who have already won a competition once before, but never went anywhere. Which is the same way I feel today. It was flag day, so who knows maybe this won America's heart over. I surely hope America isn't that stupid. Then again....... Never mind, I'll just keep my mouth shut. Tori and Taylor Thompson sang, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by the Andrews Sisters.
Honestly, I didn't like it. Their outfits were cute, but they were all over the place, and add to the fact, they were too loud. This is only an opinion, so you may beg to differ. Check out their performance below.
Vicci Martinez sang, "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. Being that I'm a huge fan of Dolly's, I didn't think she chose the right song. Don't get me wrong, I love Vicci, but I think she would have been better off singing a power ballad, especially with that amazing voice of hers. Overall it was alright, Cee Lo's team is by far the weakest, in my opinion.
Nakia sang, "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon, and I thought he did really well with this song. Contrary to what some online blog-sites are saying, I thought he was the best out of Cee Lo's team last night.
Curtis Grimes sang, "Addicted To Love" by Robert Palmer, and I didn't like it. Trust me, I know country music, and this was not what it could have been. I was a huge fan of Curtis's on the final week of the Battle Rounds, but he really disappointed me with this rendition. I don't know what Cee Lo was smoking when he chose this song.
Who's Advancing from Team Cee Lo? I'm going with Vicci Martinez and Nakia.
What of Team Adam? I haven't been sold, but I have to give my review, so here it is. Team Adam and Team Cee Lo need to go back to their drawing boards, and re-focus. They have some talented singers on their teams, but as things stand right now, anyone on Team Christina and Team Blake will crush them. They better get their acts together, them two. Geez. The first one up for Adam was Casey Weston, she sang, "Black Horse and The Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall. Honestly, I thought she was the best out of the four on Adam's team. While I didn't particularly care for the constructive criticism the judges claimed they were giving her, I thought she was fabulous. I hope America puts her through; this way, Adam can have the difficult task of choosing one of the boys he has left.
Devon sang, "Stop and Stare" by One Republic, and I truly adore him - he's cute in a nerdy kinda way. He's a pre-med student who's defying his parents, and following his dream, which is the way it should be. Unfortunately for him, he won't be going through to the next round next week. Last night must have been difficult for him - the music overshadowed his vocals, and he broke up a little towards the end.
Jeff Jenkins sang, "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood. I was a little disappointed in him, because I felt he was having a little bit of trouble with the song. He was also one of my many favorites from the beginning, and he just didn't do it for me last night. He could have killed it with this song, and he didn't.
Javier Colon sang, "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. Online sites are abuzz with his performance, and quite frankly I don't know why. It wasn't that great. It seemed to me that he was yelling the song, instead of singing it. Adam advised him to cut back a little, and not over-sing it, but did he listen? Hell, no.
Who's Advancing on Team Adam? I'm going with the only girl on the team, Casey, and Jeff, because Adam really likes him. If things go the way I'm predicting, America will vote Casey through, and Adam will choose Jeff.

Still love all the talent despite the flat performances from the other night. I don't know who is choosing these songs but Adam and his team needs to get it together real quick.
