Here's a beautiful picture of 200 calories. Yep each of these is just like the other; they each represent 200 calories. Being that I've lost 57 pounds over the last 7-8 months, I never followed the recommended 2000-2500 daily caloric intake. Are you kidding me? I probably would have never lost weight, but others seem to have a different opinion on that.

Some foods have significantly more Calories than others but what does the difference actually look
like. Each of the photographs below represents 200 Calories of the
particular type of food; the images are sorted from low to high calorie density.
When you consider that an entire plate of broccoli contains the same
number of Calories as a small spoonful of peanut butter, you might think
twice the next time you decide what to eat. According to the U.S.
Department of Agriculture, the average adult needs to consume about 2000
- 2500 Calories to maintain their weight. In other words, you have a
fixed amount of Calories to "spend" each day; based on the following
pictures, which would you eat? - wiseGeek

I'm terrible about counting calories. I usually don't get 2,000 in a day though. I have cut back on my eating a great deal because I've gained 40 pound in the last 6 months. I hate it so I been dropping what I eat drastically.
I've lost 22lbs since the start of January by not eating out and not using processed foods when eating in. I don't really count the calories. I just don't eat beyond "feeling full".
I owe my weight loss to My Fitness Pal, and the support of my wonderful partner, Ryan. I started My Fitness Pal January of last year, but couldn't stick with it. So i restarted in July and never looked back. Then I came to the realization that if I didn't change my eating habits I was going to become diabetic. My doctor told me to get on a diet or I would have to start taking medication. I had blood sugar levels in the 250-300 range and was able to reverse it before it got too late. I am now at 85-90 levels. My doctor is in for a shock when he sees me in May. By then I will have lost 15 more pounds and weigh around 165-170 - so excited.
Good for you, Peter! My goal is to ultimately get back below 200... My problem with meds is that I end up taking antibiotics and steroids for respiratory infections several times a year and I always end up putting on weight when I do that. The year I took them 6 times, I ended up gaining over 60lbs... that sucked. I've never really lost that weight since.
I wish you the best of luck Michele! And congratulations on the 22 lbs so far!!! Hang in there, don't give up. It's amazing how much more healthier you will feel. :-)
Yeah I miss Ryan and his fit self. I remember when her first started working out at the gym by my old apartments. Never thought he would go to such extremes with the whole being buff thing but he looks really good. Just not used to it yet. Love y'all. Y'all should come visit me soon.
