“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Are People Really This Stupid? Issue No. 28 - I'm Pregnant With My Dad's Baby

This just boggles my mind.

I know I've been gone for a month, but the stupidity still lingers on...  I didn't know whether to post this as part of my "What A Hot Mess" series, or this one.  I guess they're both one and the same.  Well... not all the time.

Seriously?  You hypocrites, haters (or whatever you call yourself these days) don't want Ryan and I to get married, but this is somehow okay?  Oh, but it happened in the Bible all the time, so it's okay.  Or is that the part where you can have multiple wives?

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: The Wedding Dance

If you haven't had your coffee this morning, go grab a cup, and come back to watch this short film.  It was absolutely amazing.  I have been wanting to share this video since it was released last month, but I needed to find the right time.  And today's the perfect day.  So, even if you don't drink coffee I hope you enjoy today's Saturday Morning Coffee Break.  Oh, and grab your tissue box too.

On Valentine's Day last month, Elliot London, a 31-yr old director trying to make it in Hollywood, released this three-minute film titled, "The Wedding Dance".  It has a surprise ending and truly hits close to home for so many Gay Americans.  You can read more about Elliot on his Vimeo page and learn more about his dreams and aspirations to help the LGBT community.  Learn about his growing up poor, being an only child, and terrified of the day when his fellow classmates would find out his deepest, darkest secret - that he was gay.

I'm here wishing you great success Elliot, and hope your dreams come true. ~ Peter aka Blade7184

If you wish to look back at some previous issues, click my logo below and enjoy.  Make sure to check out Saturday Morning Coffee Break every Saturday for another classic or current gay short film.
Credits for Elliot London's short film, The Wedding Dance are after the jump.  Feel free to visit the links he has provided or you can visit his YouTube page for this information as well.

The Hard Task of Being a Loving Parent: Father Scolds Daugther and Destroys Her Laptop for Facebook Status

Videos are going crazy-viral these days, and since this is going around I had to blog about it.
I honestly didn't know what to post this under, because I have two series that are currently running on my blog, "The Joys of being a Parent," and "The Woes of being a Bad Parent."

Obviously the parent isn't being bad, he's just trying teach his daughter a lesson after she wrote a harsh status update on Facebook about him, her mother, step-mother, and the "cleaning lady" he refers to as Linda.

So because there's no joy in having to punish or ground our kids, and the father was not being a bad parent, I will post this under, "The Hard Task of Being a Loving Parent."  It is a hard task.  What would you have done differently?  I respect my parents so much more today than I ever did for the scolding, grounding, spanking I received growing up, and there was no Facebook.  So just imagine. LOL.

Warning: Since this video seems to have gone crazy, I figure I'll post this notice. I'm going to read a letter my 15 year old daughter wrote. There ARE some curse words in it. None of them are incredibly bad, but they are definitely things a little kid shouldn't hear... not to mention things MY KID shouldn't say! The Joys of Being a Parent: Father vs. Daughter in a Battle of Wits

Ahhh, the joys of being a parent....  LOL. This is what I'm talking about.  This has to be the cutest video ever!  Well, at least "one of" the cutest videos ever.  There's too many that are just as great.  In either case, this is the way the father describes it on his You Tube page:
It's Maddie vs Daddy as I interrogate my baby daughter to reveal her favorite parent. What takes place is a ruthless contest of cunning and skill... with one of us clearly out of our league.

The Joys of Being a Parent: Father & Daughter Dance

I always tell Ryan that whenever we get married, there are several songs and performances I want us to do during the ceremony and/or reception.  And seeing this, just made my day even brighter.

A father and daughter share a dance medley together and it's absolutely fantastic.  This is definitely one of the joys of being a parent.

The Joys of Being a Parent: Pre-Recorded Dad Reads To Daughter

A viewer's comment read like this: "Thank you for posting this! A splendid reminder of the fact that it is parental love that makes our world go round."

And that is so true!  This is the reason I came up with this series, "The Joys of Being a Parent", because I wanted to capture enduring moments of parents at their best.  In the video below you will see a military dad read a bed time story to his daughter, but it is pre-recorded.

Daddy taped it for her, so that while he was away in Iraq she could watch and listen to him read a book to her.  It's simply adorable, and I commend this guy for being such an awesome parent!

I have organized my blogs with 3 days worth of postings, so if you wish to continue reading the days before that, and so forth and so forth, you can click the "Older Posts" button /\ /\ /\ right /\ up there.
