“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

The Joys of Being a Parent: Interview With A Baby

This video was too cute not to post.  I mean, what more could you ask for, but a pure bundle of joy?  Jose Luis (the baby), has a drinking problem, and he has agreed to sit down with his Dad for an exclusive interview.  His answers will astound you.
Once again, this proves there is nothing like The Joys of Being a Parent. Feel free to check out the rest of my previous postings.  They will make you laugh, guaranteed!

Delta Work for Adam Bouska

I have to say, that out of all the contestants on RuPaul's Drag Race this season, none of them stuck to me like glue, like Ms. Delta Work.  She simply didn't put up with any of the petty bullshit thrown at her, and she kind of reminded me of Debbie from Queer as Folk.

When she was kicked off the show several weeks ago, all of us were disappointed, but we picked up the pieces and moved on.  We are definitely looking forward to the finale in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, check out the great interview she recently had with The Seattle Gay Scene:

Delta Work, Where are you from?
Norwalk, California. Don’t you wish they all could be California girls?

When was your first time in drag and what did it feel like?
When I was 23, I was in a Madonna lip sync contest. I walked out on stage and fell completely on my ass. I felt like a complete idiot, but I got up and finished the damn thing. “Baptism by Fire”.

What makes you continue to perform and represent your community as a drag queen?
Performing, in a way, is like making your own music video or recreating a story, a time, and a place. Performing is also in many ways a commentary.

What was your first reaction when you heard the news on becoming a RPDR contestant?
I went CRAZY! I couldn’t see for a few hours and I lost my bowel control. It’s one hundred percent the highlight of my career, and I am so grateful.

How much tension was there in the hotel during the shooting of the show and were fremenies made?

In the hotel room, there is probably still tension there today. I always liked my time on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” as it is like going to band camp, but you don’t always make friends with everyone.

If you learned something from this show, what would that be?
You can’t convince others of your fierceness if you can’t convince yourself.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you absolutely need with you in order to survive?
Just Two: Music and Men!

Pick one – Lady Gaga or Cher?
Billie Holiday!

Kid Who Body-slammed His Bully Speaks Out

After years of tormenting and being picked on, 15-year old Casey Heynes snapped, and body-slammed his bully onto concrete.  The video, which I blogged about last week, became an internet sensation.

In an interview last night, Casey stated he had been taunted for years, because of his weight, and been duct-taped to a pole at one time.   He said that while he was glad for the support, he had actually contemplated suicide last year.

In the past, he usually let bygones, be bygones, and never retaliated for what these boys did to him.  But something happened to him that fateful day when he grabbed his bully and slammed him to the ground.  Casey just snapped.
"He just came up out of nowhere and grabbed me by the shirt and then he punched me in the face. Then he went for a second hit, and I blocked it," Casey recounted.
"The third hit, I don't know if he connected, and then the fourth and fifth hit me, and then I actually snapped and grabbed him," he said.
Catch the interview here, and decide, should Casey be punished for what he did?
