Gallup Poll released a series of charts titled the "State of the States" in early 2009, after the election of President Barack Obama.
"The series examines state-by-state differences in party affiliation, religiosity, consumer confidence, and employer hiring and letting go, based on Gallup Poll Daily tracking data collected throughout 2008." - Gallup.com
Who would've thought that Alaska wasn't as religious as we were all led to believe. Interesting, considering the state introduced us to Sarah Palin. It is ironic though, that Alaska is so Republican yet least religious, could mean only one thing... the state is heading towards a more independent or libertarian demographic.

Regarding the politics--maybe...
but, c'mon. Who needs religion when you live in heaven? (At least that is what I've heard people claim after having lived there.....)
Too bad that the most non religious state are also pretty much the most expensive ones. Also looks like the more back woods states are also the most religious and the most urban states are the more evolved and least religious. Who'd of thunk. Privately believing in God, whatever your belief is, is not a bad thing, pushing your beliefs of an organized religion that actively funds organizations, people and causes that directly oppose the very beliefs of "to love your neighbor as you love thyself" as well as "forgiveness" and "compassion toward your fellow man" and "he without sin should cast the first stone" upon other people is hypocrisy, ignorance and hatred in it's purest form. Just saying.
