“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Movies in Rewind: Green Lantern

If you were planning on seeing the Green Lantern, don't!  If you already saw it, I'm so sorry.

I would wait for it on Blu-ray or DVD.  Why?  Because you can do more with  your $8.50 ticket (if you're in Houston, TX), than spending it on a movie that was mediocre at best.

Yes, you get to see Ryan Reynold's buff body running and flying all over the place, but he was clothed in CGI for most of the film - 99 percent of it.  Sorry little gay boys, but you only catch Ryan half-naked, maybe twice.  While I'm not too familiar with the Green Lantern comics, word on the street is, the movie didn't do it justice.  I'll be honest, I would have rather spent my money watching Super 8 again, but I didn't dislike the movie either.  It had it's good moments and it's bad.

Here's the movie in two sentences or less.  Muscle alien drops from space, and before he dies, gives his ring to Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern, who says he doesn't deserve such an honor - and says it about 20 times throughout the movie.  At first he's afraid, then he's not, until he convinces the big kahunas in the sky, "we have nothing to fear, but fear itself," and heads down to kill this bad evil scientist with a big head, when he manages to kill a large cloud-like monster afterwards, The End.

Ryan and I didn't stay through the credits like we usually do, because our asses were hurting like hell in the cheap-ass theater we went to.  According to online sources, there was a clip in the credits that we missed.  Well guess what?  I have the ending right here after the jump.  Don't watch it if you don't want to be spoiled.

Mind-Boggling News: Carrie Gets A Makeover

Why does Hollywood continue to re-make movies?  Do they not have any other book adaptations for us to fantasize about? Are they out of superheros to save us from doom?  Seriously? Lindsay Lohan as Carrie?  Are you kidding me?

Okay, I just bombarded this post with many questions, but I honestly have them.  The original movie was released in 1976 - the year my sister, Victoria was born, and to think my niece, Liliana will be born during the remake of this atrocity is mind-boggling to me.

According to Entertainment Weekly:
Thirty-five years after Stephen King’s first best-seller roared into theaters and scared a generation of prom-going teens, MGM and Screen Gems have hired playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to resurrect Carrie with a more faithful adaptation of King’s novel, according to Deadline. But King, who famously disapproved of Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining, tells EW he still has a soft spot for Brian De Palma’s original film: “I’ve heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not Casablanca, or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White… hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg.”
And TMZ also reports that the Lohan is very interested in playing the part.
Stephen King mentioned Lindsay Lohan by name as a possible star in a remake of the classic film “Carrie” — and sources close to Lindsay tell us … she’d jump at the chance to play the iconic role … Sources close to Lindsay tell TMZ … she said she was “stoked” when she heard King mention her name and thinks working with King “would be epic.” We’re told Lindsay is a big fan of King’s work and, if the opportunity presented itself, she’d love to land a role in the upcoming adaption of his famous book, “The Dark Tower.”
I don't know about you, but I think they should leave well-enough alone.  The original Carrie, starring Sissy Spacek is a classic!  Look at the mess they created with the remake of "The Amityville Horror."  Oh okay, it had Ryan Reynolds in it, BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT!  Isn't it bad enough they're re-making The Neverending Story?!?!?! What Blasphemy!

In Brightest day, In Blackest Night. No Evil Shall Escape My Sight...

If you ever had any doubt in your mind that Green Lantern was going to be anything else, but fabulous, think again.  Over the weekend, new footage of the movie was released at WonderCon, and I'm telling you, this is going to be the best summer anyone has ever seen.  With the end of Harry Potter, Captain America, Thor, X-men, omg the list continues.  What an amazing adventure it will be!
"In brightest day, in blackest night. No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might. Beware my power, Green Lantern's light! "
Ryan Reyolds looks fit and muscular in the brand new trailer, so I take back what I said about all superheroes emulating Captain America.  Well... Chris Evans is unmistakably hot.

Watching the trailer in 2D was really awesome, but I can't imagine what 3D will do to this movie.  I cannot wait.  Thanks Ryan for sharing this with me yesterday.
