“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Proclamation of Pride from Our President

As you may already know, June is Gay Pride Month in the United States. The start of gay pride month began with a proclamation from President Bill Clinton in 2000, the summer before President George W. Bush took office, and we've been celebrating it in June ever since. Whereas prior to 2000, pride parades, and festivities occurred throughout the year, with no set date in particular.

For the past three years, President Obama has issued a pride proclamation for the LGBT community.  Let this month also remind you of the achievements he's made for our friends, family, co-workers, and citizens of this great nation who are gay.

Not once, did George W. Bush lift his hand to help us during the 8 years he held office, and I highly doubt any of the 2012 GOP presidential candidates are about to mention it either.  Well.... maybe just one, Fred Karger, but the Republicans have disowned him (as is the norm), because he's GAY.

"Take pride in knowing you have a Democratic President in office, otherwise you could be sitting in prison, experiencing torture, and possibly death at the hands of a Republican one. Remember this when you're rights get taken away.

Okay, so the death part is a little "tongue-in-cheek," but what am I supposed to think when your state (TX) GOP wants to make it a felony if a straight person were to aid and abet a gay couple with tying the knot, and would like to see that person serve mandatory jail time?

Ryan and I already know any business in Texas can refuse service to us - it's the law.

We could also loose our house, get fired, not get hired, pay more taxes even while living together, my love could get deported back to Mexico (if he really was from there) despite our relationship of 6+ (love that plus) years, loose our children (if we had them) if the one who adopted them legally died (Texas law permits that one gay man but not a couple can adopt jointly), pay even more taxes if one of us died, get denied for a loan, get denied to rent a place (if we did loose our home in the first place), and of course we can't get married ALL BECAUSE WE'RE GAY!!!! God help us if we could get fined, imprisoned or legally killed for it like in other countries. Let's hope someone like Huckabee doesn't get elected so he can bring about the pink triangle camps because of his religious beliefs. With an evangelical conservative preacher like him we can all kiss the separation of church and state goodbye. The bible does say that if I lay down with my love that I should be killed. It never said anything about separate beds though. Hey, I might be onto something here, but, then again, I'd gladly go to hell because a life with no snuggles is no life at all.

I've really gotten off course here.

Obama has done much to help us achieve equally amongst the straights, but the work is far from complete. Let's help he get re-elected so that he can continue to help us as much as possible. Thank you Obama. Please don't stop now.
