It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Republican Senator's Teenage Son on Gays, Blacks and Jews

Ahhh, it's those little things in the news you don't hear about too often.  Republican Senator, Jeff Flake had to publicly apologize for his son, Tanner, because he obviously didn't know his son was racist, anti-semitic or homophobic.  And to think he raised a boy for 14 or 15 years without ever realizing any of this... hmmm...

So the boy starts off by saying that a faggot stole his dirt bike from a church parking lot.  He goes on to say he will find him, and beat the crap out of him.  He jokes about a friend stealing one-liners because he's Jewish and loves to play "Fun Run" on Facebook with his favorite screen name, "n1ggerkiller".

“I’m very disappointed in my teenage son’s words, and I sincerely apologize for the insensitivity. This language is unacceptable, anywhere. Needless to say, I’ve already spoken with him about this, he has apologized, and I apologize as well,” Sen. Flake
Seriously, how much you want to make a bet, there's many more of them?  Racist, homophobic, teenage sons from Republican Senators.
And Tanner Flake's You Tube comments reveal something even more sinister... He hates Mexicans. LOL.  But I'm going to say anyone with dark skin at this point.

“a reader sends in a sampling of Tanner Flake’s comments from YouTube.”
“you faggot retard pussy piece of crap i hope you die in a hole slowly and painfully”
“you gay fag ni**er go shoot yourself because no body likes you”
“Mexicans are the scum of the earth.”
“Then some ni**er started rapping and I looked at her album art and saw that it was Flo Rida.”
“IT’S THE NI**ER FAMILY!!!!”
“Stupid little ni**er”
“go die in a hole you stupid ni**er”
“The black guy always fails first…”
“Yes, because one white dude goes nuts. No. Black people do crap like this all of the time.”
“When he called himself a cheap jew i loled hard”

10 Members of Congress Pose for NOH8 Campaign

The NOH8 Campaign focused its camera on the nation’s capitol earlier this month, with 10 members of Congress donning white to pose for “NOH8 on the Hill."

The members of Congress who participated represent the District of Columbia, California, Oregon, Colorado, Massachusetts and Ohio, including Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the former Democratic presidential candidate who encouraged the photo campaign's venture to Capitol Hill and was the first to sit for the shoot.

"Our nation was founded upon the principle of equality,” he said in a statement released with his photo. “It is imperative that we work for equal rights for all in order to make that principle a reality. Love isn't gay or straight, tall or short, black or white; it is for everyone."

All of the 10 lawmakers photographed were Democrats, and although the shoot was open to any member of Congress, no Republicans chose to participate. Among the pictures is one member of the LGBT caucus. On the following pages, see all of the photos and the lawmakers' accompanying statements about why they chose to pose.  [The Advocate, NOH8 Campaign]

"On the same week that Maryland and Washington stepped up for marriage equality, I stood with NOH8 in solidarity with those who are fighting Prop 8 in California. Gay and lesbian Americans are part of the fabric that makes this country strong. The notion that we could ask these men and women to do everything from paying taxes to serving our country in uniform while denying them the right to marry is offensive to everything I believe in as a public servant. I won’t stop working for equal rights in Congress until they have been extended to every American."
- Rep. Earl Blumenauer

"The reason why I support the NOH8 Campaign is simple: our country rests on the principle that all people are equal, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. If we deny that fact then we are no longer the Land of the Free. The most important freedom is the freedom to be the person you truly are and embrace the life you want to live. It’s my hope that LGBT youth across the country and in Massachusetts feel our encouragement and support. They are not alone. I stand firmly behind them, and the important message that NOH8 is spreading."
- Rep. William Keating

"I’m proud to join over 20,000 participants who’ve posed in NOH8 photos depicting the silencing of equality by California’s Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world.   These pictures speak volumes about the will of the American people to be treated the same, regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation."
- Rep. Judy Chu

"Hate does not belong in our communities, families, schools, the workplace and certainly not in our government.”
- Rep. Barbara Lee

Watch Republicans Literally Walk Out on Democrats Yesterday - Lovely

Astounding, simply astounding.  And this is how Republicans address your $1,000 dollars being taken out of your paycheck next year.

So let's see if you got a $1,000 raise this year, you're not going to see it in 2012. You're not!  And if you received a $1,000 Christmas bonus this year, save it. You'll need it next year.

In other words, if you receive a bi-weekly check, your check will be $40-60 less than what you originally were receiving.  Trust me, you'll feel it.  Actually 160 million Americans will feel it.  Watch as the GOP speaker pro-tem, walks out as Democrats are pushing for a vote on the Payroll Tax-cut before it expires this month.

Yesterday morning, Speaker Pro Tempore Michael Fitzpatrick (R-PA), under orders from Speaker Boehner, refused to allow Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer to speak on the floor and ask for unanimous consent to bring up the Senate bipartisan compromise to extend the payroll tax cut. Whip Hoyer and Congressman Chris Van Hollen are continuing to try to offer the Senate compromise even though Republicans walked off the floor. Once again, Republicans are risking a tax increase on 160 million Americans and the loss unemployment benefits for those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

Is Newt Gingrich The New Conservative Angel?

Newt Gingrich., Stephen Voss / Redux
Can someone please explain to me how the conservative evangelicals on the right are jumping on the Newt Gingrich bandwagon?  Please, can someone explain to me how these people are seeing him as viable candidate over Mitt Romney?  Granted, I don't like Romney, but then again, I'm not Republican.  The man has been married to the same woman for 42 years!  I at least give him that much credit.

Never mind that he divorced his first wife while she was suffering from cancer, something he used in many of his campaign speeches.  He then had an affair on his second wife with a congressional aide, who is currently his third wife.[source]

Isn't this the party of Family Values?  Isn't this the party of religion?

Then again, what am I saying? these same people helped elect Ronald Reagan, our first and only divorced President.

A Huge Shuttle Show Down - It's Texas vs. New York

Things are getting ugly between Houston, Texas lawmakers and their counterparts in New York City, New York.  The War of Words started Friday when Texas lawmakers introduced a bill that would strip New York City of the Space Shuttle Enterprise and give it to Houston, Texas.

New York city Congressman Charles Schumer released a snarly statement by saying, "When people from Paris, Beijing, Tokyo and Amsterdam start saying they want to go to Houston, maybe then they'll get a shuttle. I'd say to Texas, don't mess with New York,"  knowing full well Texas is famous for their quote, "Don't Mess With Texas," the slogan used during the 1990's to keep people from littering our Texas highways with trash, or garbage.

Texas Congressman Ted Poe then fired back, "whether Senator Schumer likes it or not, the Big Apple had nothing to do with NASA or the space shuttle program until Tuesday."  Which is true, New York never had anything to do with the space shuttle program, Houston has long been involved since the beginning of space exploration.

Seventeen congressmen and congresswomen wrote and signed the letter which reads in part, "We can find no logical explanation for this decision."

I'm really curious to see how far this issue will go.  Are we heading towards a huge Texas Showdown?  Because if it's one thing Republicans in Texas are good at, is sticking it to others.  So Democrat, Schumer better be prepared.

Your Representatives Know How To Party

They can't manage to come together on a solution to repair our country's financial woes, but hey at least they know how to party.  A staffer who is probably wishing they hadn't done the unthinkable, sent out a photo of republican congressman Sam Graves' office last Friday night.  When the country was on the verge of budget collapse, Mr. Graves took it upon himself to have a few drinks, more than likely thinking of ways to stick it to the Democrats.

Okay, okay, I'm sure all of our representatives were partying it up.

Government Shutdown Looming

“Closing our government would mean our men and women in uniform wouldn’t receive their paychecks and veterans would lose critical benefits. Seniors wouldn’t receive their Social Security checks and essential functions from food safety inspection to airport security could come to a halt.”  - Nancy Pelosi

Pardon my views, but the GOP has now gone on record showing just how RUTHLESS they are. They do NOT care about the American people and whats good for America. They only care about big business and keeping their wealthy friends happy. It's a sad day for us all....

These Republicans spent four days and worked until four in the morning trying to figure out ways to make America poorer and how to take away benefits for children, the poor and the middle class. Not one idea about how to lower unemployment.
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said the bill would put people out of work and claimed the Republicans reaction to that was "so be it."

"Democrats have a different message: 'Show us the jobs,'" she said. "Congressional Republicans have spent the last six weeks ignoring jobs and refusing to offer a plan to grow our economy."
"Today, they have made matters worse — passing a spending bill that destroys jobs, weakens the middle class, hurts schools and young adults, eliminates assistance to homeless veterans, and diminishes critical investments in our future," she said.

Now when 2012 arrives the Republicans will start off with the same old story about how President Obama and the Democratic controlled Senate have kept unemployment high and the economy is still stagnant. So take this story and print it off and put it on the refrigerator so you won't forget what the Republicans are all about. They want the country to go nowhere for the next year and a half and they are counting on the Democrats to stay home from the polls. Remember Wisconsin and Ohio where the working people have been steamrollered and how the oil companies have been allowed their Government welfare. Remember it and vote this stench out of Washington and the United States of America.

Last November, for those of you on the right who love to chant, "We won, we won, read the election results," the American voters did NOT put the deficit or national debt on the leading concerns of the day. Nor did they care a whit at the time about abortion, states' rights, health care reform or other causes the GOP/TP has wasted its time chasing over the past seven weeks.

Recent polls, released this week, re-confirm election day exit polls:
  • 83% of voters named jobs and the economy their number one worry
  • 73% were motivated by deep disaffection with the way Congress performs - and are certainly not being reassured by the incontinent behavior of the House Republican majority now
  • While 22% said they were influenced by a Tea Party issue, 56% said they ignored the Tea Pary, and another 18% were actively opposed to TP issues and actions
So now the Tea Party is driving the GOP bus down avenues that only 22% of the voters endorse. That is a highway to hell for the Republican Party.

Craigslist Republicans, Gay Republicans; What's Next?

"I have to work this out with my wife." Craigslist Congressman Christopher Lee, to Fox News.

Why is it that so many Republican congressmen or senators are outed more often than not, IE. Mark Foley, Larry Craig and countless others?  There's even the possibility that Lindsey Graham will be outed soon, as well But it isn't so much that they are outed, but moreso the fact, they push for legislation banning gays from having rights, they promulgate their agenda of hatred and fool their constituents into believing they are God-fearing men.

YOU'RE GAY! GET OVER IT!

They are so deep-rooted in their religious beliefs that they think they can fool everyone.  Well they fool the religious-right and conservatives alike.

I know that I've gone off subject, but I find it completely laughable that these men would rather humiliate themselves while in office, than be open about who they are from the beginning. And 99 percent of the time, these men are married with children.

Congressman Lee wasn't gay, but finding himself plastered all over the Craigslist Personals site half-naked wasn't a smart move either.
