Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. Ugly Is All The Rage

You may think it's funny, but it's not.  There are such things as ugly modeling agencies.  Yep, from tattoo artists to bearded ladies, from fat women to short people - the UGLY Modeling Agency doesn't play around.  UGLY is all the rage.
According to their 'About Us' page:
We like our women fat and our men geeky, we like the extremely tall and the shockingly small. No one is too abstract for our books! We are Ugly. And we are the leaders in character modelling.

With a unique outlook on modelling, our philosophy is simple – “Any beauty can be airbrushed but we want our look to have true character.”

We know each and everyone of our artists by name and face, and are the first and last modelling agency to still send books to clients; each jaw-dropping, coffee-table sized book shows off all our talent and their bizarre attributes!

We hand pick all our models to make sure we have a look for every market. With over 1,000 models on our books ranging from 18-100 years old, sizes 6-30, we have the most individual, wacky and peculiar looks in the industry; from trannies to grannies, burlesque to bikers, wee folk to rock blokes! We have the rarest and most eye-catching individuals in the country.
It seems National Geographic liked it enough to write a story about it.  Check out the short video.

Loving One Another - Issue No. 020

Land of the Lost - Issue No. 007: Airport Graveyard

Making this a regular series on my blog has been difficult.  My last post was early last year when we looked at some Yugoslavian Monuments That Look Like They're From The Future

For those not familiar with my "Land of the Lost" series, I cover anything from photographers who almost vanished to abandoned cities, highways, and naval ships.

Today's issue is about an airport graveyard located in Russia.

Airport graveyards are few and far between.  Most airplanes are reduced to scrap metal or sold for parts, which is why I found this Russian airport fascinating.

Located in the city of Ussuriysk, you will find the Vozdvizhenka Air Base.  There on the empty tarmacs and hangars you will find military aircraft "carcasses" as described by this Russian website.

Empty shells of what once was.

Luckily for me there is "Google Translate".  I have included the translated text with the cool photos below.  Check them out.

Metal creaking in the wind and birds singing on tarmac and earth caponiers - is today the once powerful and militant aviagarnizon "Vozdvizhenka". More specifically, the former 444-th Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment.

History Bomber Regiment began July 5, 1941 on the Big Khabarovsk airport, July 22, he was given the name "444 long-range Bomber Aviation Regiment", and August 15, 1943 the regiment was handed Battle Banner.  Then there was the Great Patriotic War and the war with Japan. Crews Regiment bombers IL-4 clearly performed the task. After the war, some relocated to Korea, which stood until 1948, and then returned to the Maritime forever. In the 1950-1960-s staff mastered the Tu-4, B-25, Tu-16.

In the last type of aircraft, "Exaltation" regiment flew to the end of 1980, not having received the new TU-22, which in 1969 had to replace outdated Tu-16.

Finally, in November 1990, pilots began retraining for Tu-22M3. The first Tu-22M3 overtaken November 19, 1990 The first flight of the Tu-22M3 made February 18, 1991 the crew of Lieutenant Colonel D. Sigarev, majors VG Pukhov, V. Wetzel and GA Koshevarova.

The Tu-22M3 flights to Vozdvizhenka actively continued until 2007, then began to attack a gradual decrease, and finally to "destroy" regiment of the current military reform. Some planes ferried to Siberia, and the remaining in Primorye carefully dismantled. Moreover, any expert it is clear that here the "dismantling" with fighting vehicles took place in polushtatnom mode.

Moreover, any expert it is clear that here the "dismantling" with fighting vehicles took place in polushtatnom mode. From the "carcasses" not only lifted radar, engine, cabin equipment and feed shooting settings, but the entire surface of the fuselage turbine cut square holes, which will not allow the bombers will never ascend to the sky. This is done to reduce the strength of the airframe and planes. Now these machines are completely unfit for combat.

A Very Special Moment - Issue #5: Thank You Mom

Whether you're a mother, grandmother or even a father, having a child is A Very Special Moment, and this video is the reason why.
You may have seen the following commercial last summer during the Olympics, or possibly you never have.  In either case, now you have the chance to watch it again, or for the very first time.  Many "thank-yous" go out to Proctor & Gamble for paying tribute to our mothers in this intimate advertisement.  Be warned.. you may shed a tear.

Are People Really This Stupid? Issue No. 32 - Yes, This Will Shock You

So what do you think would happen if you touched an electrical fence without any shoes on?  Yeah - my thoughts exactly.

These five fools thought it would be cool to try a little experiment...

Each person is standing on some type of stool with their shoes on, with the first person holding onto an electrical fence.  They each hold hands as another friend comes up to them, removes his shoes, and without any socks or stool for that matter, reaches for the hand of the 4th person in line.  Are people really this stupid?  Really?

Just Sayn'

LMAO!  Either the kid will become a severe diabetic or she'll have no teeth by the time she's 10. LOL.  Just Sayn'.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm... Oz - The Great and Powerful

Since we're on the subject of The Great and Powerful Oz.

The name for Oz in "The Wizard of Oz" was thought up when the creator, Frank Baum, looked at his filing cabinet and saw A-N, and O-Z, hence "Oz." Hmmm...

You can take Baum's word for it, or you can take his wive's.  Your choice.

We don't have to rely upon whatever Baum's children may have been told for verification, however, as Baum himself had offered essentially the same story many years earlier in a press release drafted to announce the reissue of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in 1903:
I have a little cabinet letter file on my desk that is just in front of me. I was thinking and wondering about a title for the story, and had settled on the "Wizard" as part of it. My gaze was caught by the gilt letters on the three drawers of the cabinet. The first was A-G; the next drawer was labeled H-N; and on the last were the letters O-Z. And "Oz" it at once became.
This evidence wouldn't seem to leave much room for doubt, as Baum himself is undeniably the one person who knows how he came to choose the name, and this explanation comes straight from the horse's pen, so to speak. Baum's version does differ from the one offered by his son in that the latter places him in a roomful of children rather than alone in his study, but that difference might be dismissed as a mere literary embellishment on his son's part. Even Baum's version contains its own discrepancies, though, as various pre-publication references and copyright registrations reveal that Baum considered several titles for his book using the word "Oz" but not the word "Wizard" (e.g., "The City of the Great Oz," "The Fairyland of Oz," "The Land of Oz"), so clearly he had not "settled on the 'Wizard' as part of it" before coming up with the name 'Oz.'2 Moreover, Baum's wife Maud wrote to a friend in 1943 that:
The word Oz came out of Mr. Baum's mind, just as did his queer characters. No one or anything suggested the word — or any person. This is a fact.

My Christian Thoughts - Issue #4 - The Baptist Pastor Who Encouraged Parents to Punch Their Boys

I first heard the following audio on Anderson Cooper last May, and was so angry about it I wanted to immediately share My Christian Thoughts on the matter.   Unfortunately, I was on blog break and my blogging was sporadic at best; But now that I have this new series every Sunday, I do have something to say.
"So your little son starts to act a little girlish when he is four years old and instead of squashing that like a cockroach and saying, “Man up, son, get that dress off you and get outside and dig a ditch, because that is what boys do,” you get out the camera and you start taking pictures of Johnny acting like a female and then you upload it to YouTube and everybody laughs about it and the next thing you know, this dude, this kid is acting out childhood fantasies that should have been squashed.

Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male and you are going to be a male. And when your daughter starts acting to Butch you reign her in. And you say, “Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play them to the glory of God. But sometimes you are going to act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl and smell like a girl and that means you are going to be beautiful. You are going to be attractive. You are going to dress yourself up.”

You say, “Can I take charge like that as a parent?”

Yeah, you can. You are authorized. I just gave you a special dispensation this morning to do that."
There's a special place in hell for Baptist Pastors like you, Mr. Sean Harris.  And if any of you reading this think and act like this, there's a special place for you too.  Oh, I'm sorry, am I being judgemental?  Am I judging you?  Since it's okay for you to do it to me, I think I have that right too, no?

But guess what, I'm not.  I'm not a hater - I'm a lover.  I love you regardless if you hate me.  I love you regardless if you rather see me in some prison camp for the gays.  I love you regardless if you "choose" to be straight.  I love you because my heart has no room for nothing else.

See the clear picture?

It's love.  Jesus loves, God loves, and I love.  And this is who I will emulate - not you - the Christian who pretends to be of God.

Quoted - Paul Schmidtberger on Design Flaws of the Human Condition

And then one student said that happiness is what happens when you go to bed on the hottest night of the summer, a night so hot you can't even wear a tee-shirt and you sleep on top of the sheets instead of under them, although try to sleep is probably more accurate. And then at some point late, late, late at night, say just a bit before dawn, the heat finally breaks and the night turns into cool and when you briefly wake up, you notice that you're almost chilly, and in your groggy, half-consciousness, you reach over and pull the sheet around you and just that flimsy sheet makes it warm enough and you drift back off into a deep sleep. And it's that reaching, that gesture, that reflex we have to pull what's warm - whether it's something or someone - toward us, that feeling we get when we do that, that feeling of being sad in the world and ready for sleep, that's happiness.

Another Britney???

What the hell is going on with the Biebs lately?  Is he going through a celebrity breakdown or something.  Oh-Oh, not another Britney!!!  Poor Justin, he was sick, he wasn't allowed into a club - geez  -- Things are just not well with him.

Isn't This The Truth? Then & Now

LMAO!

I'm laughing, because these are so true!  Many of you can probably relate to these creative illustrations from Caldwell Tanner over at College Humor.  The following images take a look back at what it was like to sleep, cook, shop, clean, bathe or correspond to one another, versus today.

Saturday Morning Coffee Break: Bucket List Night

So this week I thought I'd pull away from the norm and show a comedic short with gay undertones.  Grab your Java, sit back and enjoy this week's Saturday Morning Coffee Break!

Soren and Dan are your quintessential straight best friends who sit down to go over each other's "Bucket List".  Unbeknownst to them they learn things about one another they probably wished they'd never known. LOL.

For those who don't know what a bucket list is; It's a list of things you wish to do before you die, hence the idiom "kicked the bucket"Check it out, it's pretty funny.

If you wish to look back at some previous issues, click my logo below and enjoy.

Make sure to check out Saturday Morning Coffee Break every Saturday for another classic or current gay short film.

Medical Masterpieces by Sarah Hargis

Regardless if you're in the medical profession or not, I highly recommend looking at these amazing drawings made by Sarah Hargis.  I had previously seen The Brain and The Nervous System but now she's gone and created The Human Heart, and I had to blog about her.

Sarah is just a regular gal like you and I, she's a grad student at Virginia Tech and during her spare time she likes to draw and do "crafty things".  If you read her profile, she states that she drew these diagrams as a study guide for a friend of hers who is in medical school.  Personally, I can see this becoming really huge - really, really huge.  So I'm glad to be one of the first to blog about her. :-)  She recently created a site on Etsy and is now selling her Medical Masterpieces.

Keep them coming Sarah!

A Very Special Moment - Issue #4: The Last Mile

Last night, Ryan and I were balling our eyes out after watching this astounding video.  And it isn't so much that it's a 15-yr-old boy sharing his feelings or his thoughts on a matter that is close to our hearts, but the fact the boy has the courage and willpower to stand up in front of hundreds of people and tell it like it truly is.

Watching this video last night made me witness the power of marriage, the power of love and the power of family come together; And it will for you too.  Watch this video, you won't regret it.   This truly is... A Very Special Moment.

Daylight Saving Time Explained

It's that time of year again.  Time to move your clocks forward one hour.  Yep, you'll be losing an hour of sleep and an extra hour at the bar.  LOL.  How many of you actually know why we even have Daylight Saving Time?

If you've ever been curious, this video does a great job of explaining it.  The questions is... should we even have this ridiculous time change every six months, year after year?

From the same guy who brought you  "2012 & The End of The World," comes this excellent video on Daylight Saving Time, and quite frankly, I learned more about Daylight Saving Time than I ever thought I knew.  Hope you enjoy it.

If you live in the United States make sure to move your watches and clocks forward one hour, starting Sunday, March 10th, at 2AM. Unless you live in Arizona or Hawaii.

If you liked this video you will definitely want to check out CGPgrey's other fantastic videos I previously blogged about. In addition to the one I highlighted above the video.
