It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 61 - Ferrets Go Nuts Over Packing Peanuts
This video is too cute. It reminds me of my first experience with a ball pit, LOL. Watch as these ferrets go crazy when they discover the joy of packing peanuts.

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 57 - Polar Smashing Bear
Now, this would definitely scare the hell out of me.
Imagine going to the Antarctica Zoo, Sea World, The Amazon, or Africa and while you're talking to your buddy about last night's conquest, a Polar Bear swimming in the aquarium inches from you, approaches the glass to say hi.
You don't pay attention to him, so he decides to throw a rock at you, shattering the glass behind you. My thoughts are... 1) you run as fast you can out of the building, 2) continue talking to your buddy, or 3) stay put and tape the damn thing.

Not a hard decision is it? LOL.

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 55 - BeetleCam is Back
For those who have no idea what a BeetleCam is, it is a remote control buggy with a DSLR camera mounted on top. Will Burrard-Lucas from the UK created this little machine in 2009 in order take close-up, wide angle photographs of African animals.Update: When I initially wrote this blog, I made some errors that were unintentional. If you read that post, I am deeply sorry. I have now made the corrections and have given credit, where credit is due.
Will, alongside his brother, Matt have won several prestigious awards and have appeared in countless magazines and websites over the years. Feel free to check out their site and blog at www.burrard-lucas.com. They have a pretty impressive portfolio.
In 2009, Will and Matt embarked on a project that quickly became a news and internet sensation, "The BeetleCam Project," where they took photographs of African wildlife using their little robotic creation.
Not completely satisfied with their work, they went back in 2011, and came back with a new "BeetleCam is Back" teaser, which you can check out below - its pretty darn cool. You can also find out more about their initial project, "The Adventures of BeetleCam", in a blog posted by will on April 19, 2010.

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 54 - Love The Panda
Did someone say Panda? Who doesn't love Pandas as much as I do? All they do is eat Bamboo all day, and lounge around - living the good life. LOL. I spotted these pictures online last week and wanted to share them with you.
If you're curious to see Baby Panda go from
this to this,
this to this,
then you'll enjoy the rest of the pics.
Have fun!

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 48 - Monkey is Threatened
So this is pretty interesting. A man was warned by a zoo worker at a Memphis Zoo that a monkey will feel his alpha-male status threatened if any tall men were to walk into the area. When he's told to turn his back to the monkey, the monkey takes advantage of his unaware state. Just watch.
YouTube: This is at the cafe inside the Memphis Zoo. The manager of the cafe told me that the alpha male monkey noticed me the second I walked in the door and started going crazy, because, as the alpha male, he feels threatened by tall males. So she told me to go stand by the window and turn my back on him and that he would "attack" me...

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 36 - Petting A Baby Owl
You may remember my post from August, "An Owl As You've Never Seen It Before," if not, i highly recommend it. It's a pretty darn cool video. But this video I spotted on the Daily Mail, is simply adorable. I've had a fascination with owls since I was a child and used to collect owl memorabilia growing up. This video has surely peaked my interest collecting them once again.
From The Daily Mail:
From The Daily Mail:
And- unintentionally tapping into the passion for the curiously cute birds of prey-this incredible footage has clocked up nearly two million You Tube hits in two days.
The expression of bliss on the face of the adorable infant, as it gets a refreshing head rub from its unseen lady owl-keeper is pure magic.

Are People Really This Stupid? Issue No. 11 - Lions, Tigers and Bears
By now you've probably read about or heard of the story out of Zanesville, Ohio, where an idiot released 56 exotic animals before he shot himself to death.
Why he was allowed to own them is beyond me. Scratch that! In Ohio you are allowed to own whatever the hell you want. Are people really this stupid?
I'm going to say yes, and I'm also going to say yes to the idiots (the cops) who killed all 18 Bengal Tigers, of which are rare, with only a few thousand in existence today. They also shot and killed, 6 bears, several lions, wolves and monkeys. It was a massacre!
Why didn't law enforcement use tranquilizers? These animals could have gone to zoos across the nation. It's a travesty, I'm telling you.
Terry Thompson was recently released from prison for illegal firearm possession, his wife left him, and didn't have the means to continue feeding these creatures. Supposedly he did this in retaliation of his neighbors and the cops. I would understand if all the creatures ventured into town and needed to be put down to protect the residents, but as you can see in the picture, most of them were together.
Definitely sadness all around.

It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 30 - A Dozen Pandas
A dozen pandas were born two weeks ago at a breeding center in China, and they are absolutely adorable. OMG, I would love to have one, but I don't think that would be a good idea. They would eat our chihuahuas as a snack.
The pandas are part of an effort by this large center to help the endangered species in the wild. They also look for red pandas and other endangered Chinese animals. You can read more about the cute little panda babies at the Sydney Morning Herald.

Woof vs. Meow
So what does owning a pet say about you? I thought this chart was pretty cool. Who knew owning a pet could probably help a relationship last longer. 60% of pet owners are either married or in a long-term relationship. Interesting, huh?
Also 15% of people who own dogs are Extroverts, whereas 11% who own cats are introverts. Which is so true, Ryan and I are total extroverts. Don't know about the part of us being 50% more likely to be conservative - that just isn't right. I don't think they're counting small dog owners - who are all gay. LOL.
