Bonnie Tyler recorded a song back in 1982 that became her biggest hit to date, Total Eclipse of the Heart. The song peaked at No. 1 in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. To this day, the song is as popular as it was then, and is still being played on the radio.
All that aside, the video accompanying this song was the most bizarre thing I had ever seen. If I were to produce a movie which included soft core porn, a twin peaks and poltergeist storyline behind it, I would come up with this truly hot mess of a music video. Nevertheless, the video is hilarious to watch. You'll never see Bonnie Tyler the same way again.

River Cities, the company which is located in Kemah, say the ship has 180 condos, restaurants, hot tubs, a golf course and will feature a landing pad for medevac helicopters. The ship, which will be housed in Houston, will cruise the coastal waterways along with the nation's rivers.
"After a pleasant day of cruising the waterways, we will have cars and buses ready and waiting for your shore travel; the choice of activities will be up to you," the company says on its website.
The price isn't cheap! It will only cost you $300,000 to $500,000 to own one. So start saving now or invest more in your 401K! They already have 25 percent of the condos sold; once they hit 90 percent they start constructing your dream home on water.

While, not as powerful as the original, last night Whitney Houston took us back to a time when we all fell in love with her. On a BET special, Celebration of Gospel, Whitney and Kim Burrell took to the stage in a duet which took everyone by surprise.
Yes, I shed a few tears, and not only because the song is beautiful, but because I believe everyone deserves a second chance. While it has been hard for Whitney to make a comeback, she is still an inspiration to many. Life is too short to dwell on our mistakes; learn from them and move on, it will make us a better person in the end.
It doesn't seem like it's going to let up, until possibly the beginning of next week. Different websites are reporting that we will be getting snow on Friday and people at work are already talking about it. I'm off on Fridays, so I'll be home resting nice and cozy in my bed. But for you folks, who are traveling or taking long commutes to work, take extra precaution, because rain and snow will start around 1 AM; if that's the case, you will encounter icy roads.
Freezing temperatures also mean, dead plants. Sad story, but it's true; cover up your plants if you wish to save them! Ryan and I don't have any plants to cover; the ones we had froze last year, and we are not bound to replant tropical trees that are not meant to be planted in these areas anyway. We had some palms, orchid trees and other shrubs a couple years back and when we replanted, the next year's freeze destroyed them. We have some plants in pots that we will bring inside.
By now everyone knows, Republicans Cindy McCain (wife of Senator John McCain), and her daughter Megan are in support of marriage equality and opposed to Proposition 8. But what are your thoughts on a daughter of a Republican President coming out in support of Marriage Equality? Barbara Bush, daughter of President George W. Bush has done so. Kudos to her!
I swear, our Representatives have the best healthcare available to them through the Federal Government, and yet one of them has the gall to sue for damage to his teeth caused by an olive pit. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, and former Presidential candidate, has settle his lawsuit with the House Office Cafeteria who served him the sandwich.

I'm still in the process of putting together my regular segments on my blog and have decided to start a series on technology from our younger years. So to start this week's Monday segment of "Keeping it Old Skool," I bring you The Little Professor. Oh yes, I remember playing with this calculator as a child and losing all the time. I hated the damn Professor. Just kidding, I liked him, but those hard levels.. geez. The calculator was not like a regular one, instead this one suggested math problems for you that could be solved through multiplication, division, addition, or subtraction. I believe it came with some cards or a booklet and you were to solve the problems; if it was correct, you were awarded points which were shown on the red led display.
Because we all know there are plenty of smart people in the world. A 4 year old girl in sunglasses takes control of a motorcycle, and rides India's highways with Dad sitting behind her. I know, the shock and horror that must be running through your mind.
Take a look at your new Superman! Warner Bros. made an announcement over the weekend on who would be the next man to don the blue tights and the red cape, and it's Tudors star, Henry Cavill.

I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. I know this may sound cheesy, but I'm excited about the upcoming reboot of Dallas on TNT!!! That means Ryan and I need to finish watching Seasons 12 & 13 of Dallas. LOL.
When I learned they were going to make a Dallas movie a few years back, starring John Travolta and Jennifer Lopez, I was excited; but not until they ruined it by saying they were going to make a spoof of one of the most popular television series of all time.
The new series is to focus on Bobby and JR Ewing's sons (Christopher and John Ross Ewing), and their circle of friends, with three original stars heading back to the Ranch. Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen Ewing) are almost certain to return along with the possibility of Larry Hagman (JR Ewing), who's still negotiating a contract with the Producers.
When people look at me and think I'm crazy when I tell them I didn't know what the internet was all about in 1990, I'll show them this video.

I would suggest to anyone that has a gay child, or knows of a gay child that may be facing the same challenges as Bobby to watch this movie and open your hearts to them, we are people and deserve to be loved UNCONDITIONALLY.

As Ryan and I watched the movie, PRAYERS FOR BOBBY, tears streamed down our faces. I think this could possibly be the only movie I've ever watched where I've gone through an entire box of tissues from crying for more than an hour. I can remember countless times growing up as a child where I had thoughts of suicide; how I wanted to just escape from all the hatred and shame that I would have done so by taking my own life. The only reason I didn't do it was because I knew it would hurt people. Just watching Bobby, knowing where he walked and where he danced, I have been there; to be so afraid of whom I was due to people’s thoughts and ideas - either from their church, family or friends.
I came out to my parents at the age of 24, and though it was difficult at first and took a little while for their acceptance, their love never wavered. I remember telling my sister, and she not even flinching….. Thus making her my best friend and the best sister I could ask for. ** I love you Vicky**
I consider my self very fortunate; I have been with my boyfriend, Ryan for 5-1/2 years and my parents continue to support me in whatever decisions I make in life. They treat Ryan as one of the family, as well as his parents treat me as a second son. I feel that the movie really let people know what ignorance can do. I feel that if more people were accepting of their gay children this world would be a much happier place. Being accepting and loving your child does not mean you have to understand, but just love them for who they are. It’s not a choice - anyone who lives in this world as a gay individual will tell you.
Why would anyone choose to be this way when we face hatred, disgust, and prejudice every day? I didn't wake up one morning, and say, “Oh, I think I’ll be gay today”, just to be hurt in the process.
My heart went out to Bobby, because I can relate to how he was feeling. I lost a very dear friend much the same way because his family did not accept nor love him because he was gay. If we as a society can change, then maybe one day we will be treated equally. We can only hope that the ones who hate us so much can change their views on how they believe.
I don't know what waits for us when we die. I don't know how God will judge us. And I don't know what God will judge about us. But I do know that I was born with the ability to love. I do know that I didn't choose who to love. And I do know that love, no matter what its circumstances are, is NOT a crime.
I seriously want to give Sigourney Weaver and Ryan Kelley both a big hug; they did such a fantastic job in this movie, it truly warms my heart to know that people care, and fight for us.
Thanks to those who had a part in bringing this movie to life. And thank you Mary Griffith for all you've done, I have no doubt that wherever Bobby is right now, he is proud of everything you've accomplished and everything you fight for. Please see the trailer below:
It seems like just yesterday when I was watching a You Tube video about Randy Rainbow and his date with Mel Gibson. LOL, it wasn't true, but we all knew he was making fun of Mel Gibson's crazy rant to his wife over the summer. He became a popular fixation on the site with his almost believable phone conversations with Dr. Laura, Lindsay Lohan and countless others. I know I posted it on Facebook, but here he is again:

I honestly don't know what to say. I like this woman, but sometimes I question my own actions. Representative Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota), who so valiantly spoke to us last night on CNN, seems to think that black people arriving in this country at the time our nation was formed were treated equally; "we were all the same," she states. What I like best about the video you're about to see is that she states our Founding Fathers "worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States." I think she failed to read the part where it said, George Washington had slaves.
I sometimes wonder why people vote for her year after year, she is the most incompetent human being on earth. I thought Bush was bad, but damn, Lord have Mercy on her. Okay, okay, I'm not here to bash anyone, but she truly needs to brush up on her history if she and Palin are planning to run for president in 2012.

Frito-Lay has decided to distance themselves from them and say they are finding a way to have them removed from YouTube as soon as possible.
The ads were actually a part of a "Crash the Superbowl" contest, where thousands of entrepeneurs submitted videos and were judged by a panel of judges. Frito-Lay Director of Public Relations Chris Kuechenmeister said that the contest’s judges sought to “identify spots that were appropriate for everyone” and “observe a level of respect for everybody.” Can I throw up now? The only ones who would hate these ads would be the small percentage of conservatives who think that anything gay is wrong. You can see the commercials here and here. I wanted to blog about this story for a while, but didn't have the chance to until now. The story is about an unknown street photographer, Vivian Maier; I was drawn to it while watching a television segment one night.
In the video below you will find out about John Maloof, who discovered her work and is using most of his time making sure this amazing photographer is recognized and put alongside one of the greats. Tripwire magazine just posted an article on the 35 Great Photographer's Portfolio Sites to Inspire You, but these photographs by Vivian are more than that. They are period time pieces; like moments frozen in time. As I look through these images it makes me wish I had a time machine, or I simply a wormhole or some type of anomaly, like in Star Trek.
What makes Vivian's story so unique, is that she was just a simple Nanny; who during her breaks was able to find the time to walk the streets of Chicago, taking photographs. According to John she was a very private woman, which is something he discovered when he found her photographs. He bought a storage locker at a Chicago auction house, and when he opened it found thousands of negatives that obviously Ms. Maier had never seen herself. He is in the process of developing these rolls and has already opened a show which was years in the making.
John mentions on his blog that out of the 100,000 negatives he has in his collection, 20-30,000 of them were still in rolls, undeveloped from the 1960s - 1970s. After reading a New York Times article, I learned a little more about this private woman. She was born in New York in1926, lived in France and returned to New York in 1951. Five years later she moved to Chicago, where she worked for 40 years as a Nanny.

I would like to start another series on my blog with a focus on advertisements addressing gay issues, titled Gay Ads That Matter. Over the years, I've seen MTV, Magazines like OUT, Instinct or The Advocate, post ads about issues involving our gay youth, couples, parents, etc.. And some of these ads are truly, truly amazing.
Starting with the first Issue, I bring you an ad from the pro-gay nation of Israel. As you may already know, Israel is a full democracy and have accepted gays whole-heartedly through the years. They also have one of the highest percentages of support for same-sex marriages in the world, while they have not officially been sanctioned in the country, they do recognize marriages performed elsewhere.

What an amazing video to watch. While watching the video, I only wished that I could have been as strong while in High School. But those were different times, a different mindset for most folks. You can't imagine how hard it was for all of us. I sometimes look back wondering which friends, or who all could have been gay in school; those who never came out for fear of retribution.
Kayla came out to her entire high school while most of us spent the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday working or at home relaxing. She tells them that she is just like them, but just happens to be attracted to other girls. "I want to break the silence," Kayla tells the school. "And I want to make one thing very clear: I didn't choose to be gay. Facing this reality was the most challenging thing I've had to do in my entire life. … I want to fall in love with someone one day, and I want to walk down the street and hold her hand. … And eventually, I want to marry her. I want to buy a house with her."
I truly commend her for having the courage to go up during a school assembly and coming out. She is doing this for those who need help during a time of hate and violence in our country; where young students are killing themselves for fear of being outed or simply being labeled as a homosexuals. She just helped hundreds of people in the world, and I'm going to help her by sharing this video on my blog and on Facebook. If one person can make a difference, imagine what we can do as a family.

Nothing surprises me anymore. The people at JesusHatesObama.com have been rejected, and not simply for making Jesus look out to be an evil and angry man, but for going too far.
Not only do they have Jesus in a "Jesus Hates Obama" robe. They have the audacity to play the "Battle Hymn of The Republic" in the background.
Of course the Obama bobblehead takes a turn for the worst when the Jesus bobblehead dumps him in a fishbowl. A quote from the home page of the site indicates, "do we really believe that Jesus hates Obama? Of course not! However, we do believe in freedom...as in the freedom to make fun of the Obama administration with novelty t-shirts...our products may be a joke but so are the policies of this administration."
So it's over for the Bears and the Jets. But not so fast... it's also over for the Pittsburgh Steelers! According to news reports, the Packers are early favorites to win the Superbowl in two weeks. And from the look of things, the Packers have everything going for them. I say Packers 34-14.
