“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Our Idiotic Governor, Rick Perry, Labels Us Flavors of the Month

So yeah, the title says it all.  I really don't have much to say on the subject, because I'm tired of having to defend myself or "My Family", but this man is up there with Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.  Nuts.

I was in Boy Scouts from Junior High through High School and if you ask me, it wasn't the "gay scouts" I was afraid of.  It was the straight ones that were horny and needed help.  These people go on chastising gays when it's the STRAIGHT "dads", "uncles", "cousins", "friends" who are molesting boys.  Hell, the Catholic church is full of them too.

Read an excerpt below and tell me you don't want to throw up.
“I know there are those in the world today that would tear that apart. But the fact is this is a private organization. Their values and principles have worked for a century now. And for pop culture to come in and try to tear that up because it just happens to be, you know, the flavor of the month so to speak and to tear apart one of the great organizations that have served millions of young men, helped them to become men and become great fathers. That is just not appropriate. Frankly, I hope the American people will stand up and say, 'Not on my watch.'” - read more here
I guess Ricky forgot there were 2,000 cases of abuse prior to 1994 in the United States alone.  And these were the only ones that were reported.

Another State Down, 42 More To go

Before I continue with my blogs I did want to mention an important achievement that occurred yesterday.  In a move that has Washington Republicans and conservative bible thumpers screaming their lungs out - marriage for the gays was passed in the state!

In a vote of 28 to 21 the Senate passed a marriage equality bill where it is expected to easily pass through the House.  Once that is done, Governor Christine Gregoire will sign the bill into law!!!  And for those who are unaware, she's actually the one who introduced the bill.  And for that we're thankful!

We love you Christine - the gays love you!

One State - Two Party Difference

I honestly wish this wasn't the case, but this is pretty much the way it is around the country.  When the country is divided this is what you get.  Only difference is, one party is a little more respectful.  These two women represent Arizona...
...I rest my case.

Thanks for the Memories Rick Perry [video]

If its one thing Ryan and I will miss from the 18 Republican debates, it will be this character, Ricky Perry.  Yep.  From his "oops" moment to his misconstrued history, from his drunken moments to his Alzheimer's, Ricky, you will truly be missed.

Only bad thing is... you're back in Texas, unfortunately.

God Help Us If Texas Governor, Ricky Perry is Elected...

Scientists are a fabric of our society.  We have what we have in our hands (cell phones), because of Scientists.  Almost everything we own in our lives is because Science was involved.

After a reporter gives him a huge breakdown on Global Warming and his position regarding it, our Texas Governor, Rick Perry, and I use "our" lightly, claims that scientists invented global warming to make money.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Governor.  And keep in mind, our state has been in extreme drought for over 6 months!  As I was driving in The Woodlands last week, trees everywhere were dying, trees planted by highways dead, and beautiful landscapes gone!  Yeah, we live in a make-belief land.

Hasn't America learned their lesson by electing another dumbass from Texas?  Seriously, how much more stupid can this country get?  God help us all!

The Most Vile Man In The Republican Party

Let's see...

You're against me and Ryan getting married,

You're against me and Ryan becoming parents,

You're against me and Ryan retaining our jobs,

and...

You're against mine and Ryan's friends joining the military.

Hmmm. what else would you expect from a man who has preached from the pulpit for over 30 years?  Who are you to judge us Mr. Huckabee?

Gay people having full equality has no impact what so ever on anyone who disagrees with the "homosexual lifestyle" as you often mention. It changes nothing in your home life, your family, or your church; your life will continue as it always has. You only have to deal with the fact that we exist and we are entitled to the same rights as everyone else. There is no personal toll or impact for you.

When people make moves to limit, remove, or block our equality it impacts our legal and financial standings, our families (especially if there are children involved), and wrongly implies that we are somehow less deserving of life, liberty, and equal protection under the law than our hetero counterparts.

And lets get one thing very clear, the term "homosexual lifestyle" is a worthless statement that is used only as a scare tactic to ignite fear and anger. The reality is that all homosexuals have only two things in common, they are attracted to people of the same gender and they will face familial, societal, and legal discrimination because of it; the similarities stop there.

Just like heteros we all have vastly different beliefs and practices regarding work, family, children, religion, politics, sexual behaviors, morality, education, where we live, who we socialize with, and what we are willing to tolerate from others. We are not all "cut from the same cloth", and if in 2011 you believe that we are than your ignorance is beyond staggering.

Differing opinions regarding homosexual relationships doesn't make anyone evil. It's when you attempt to block our rights, take away our children, forbid us from adopting children, align us with pedophiles and animal rapists, discredit our families, fire us, evict us, tell us we can be cured (as if we had a sickness), tell us that your imaginary friend's book says we should be put to death (even though you ignore everything else Leviticus said), beat us or actually murder us; that's when it becomes evil.

Alabama GOP Governor Robert Bentley: If We Don't Have the Same Daddy, We're Not Brothers and Sisters

The new Republican Governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley, proclaimed yesterday that if you don't convert and become a Christian, then you're not part of his family.

Bentley made the remarks during a speech at Dexter Street King Memorial Baptist Church, the Montgomery church once led by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., saying that non-Christians were “not my brother” and he hoped they would convert to Christianity.

During the speech at the church in recognition of the King holiday Monday, Bentley told a packed audience that he is color blind to race, and then talked about his religious beliefs.

“But if you have been adopted in God’s family like I have, and like you have, if you’re a Christian and if you’re saved, and the Holy Spirit lives within you just like the Holy Spirit lives within me, then you know what that makes? It makes you and me brothers. And it makes you and me brother and sister,” he said.

“Now I will have to say that, if we don’t have the same daddy, we’re not brothers and sisters. So anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I’m telling you, you’re not my brother and you’re not my sister, and I want to be your brother.”

I'm a Christian, so I guess I'm part of his family.  I wonder if it matters if I'm gay, or is there an exception to the rule?
