“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul - - - - - - - - - - - “if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - John F. Kennedy - - - - - - - - - - - - “Imagine finding someone you love more than anything in the world, who you would risk your life for but couldn’t marry. And you couldn’t have that special day the way your friends do – you know, wear the ring on your finger and have it mean the same thing as everybody else. Just put yourself in that person’s shoes. It makes me feel sick to my stomach …. When I shared a picture of my tattoo on my Twitter page and said, ‘ALL LOVE is equal,’ a lot of people mocked me – they said, ‘What happened to you? You used to be a Christian girl!’ And I said, ‘Well, if you were a true Christian, you would have your facts straight. Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. At one point I had to say, ‘Dude, everyone lay off.’ Can’t people have friendly debates about sensitive topics without it turning into unnecessary threats?” - Pop star Miley Cyrus on her marriage equality tattoo - - - - - - - - - - -

Spartacus Returns With A Vengeance

And on January 27th, with a vengeance we will watch.  Ryan and I are so excited for the new season of Spartacus, which is awesomely titled Spartacus: Vengeance.

We have Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Spartacus: Blood and Sand on Blu-ray, and OMG the entire series is absolutely fantastic.  If you haven't watched it, you need to.  Sure there's a lot of flesh, but it's satisfying for both straights and gays! LOL.

Here is where the series picks up:
"On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in "Spartacus: Vengeance". Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage. Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion." - STARZ
You may recall Andy Whitfield left the series after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma about 2 years ago.  He has since passed away, but his legacy lives on in Liam McIntyre, the new actor who replaced him.

U.S. Olympic Swimmer Thomas Finchum

As I'm sure all of you know, every 4 years we elect a U.S. President there is a Summer Olympics to go with it, and this year is no exception.  The Olympics will be held in London this year, and I'm sure it's going to be absolutely fabulous!  I cannot wait!

Swimming and Gymnastics are my favorite sports, hence the reason I can't wait to have a our favorite gay boy back in the spotlight, U.S. Olympic Swimmer, Thomas Finchum.  He is so yummy!

The Lazy Jedi

You Star Wars fans will love this.  Especially you lazy ones, because if you could you would. LOL.

Master Dave just doesn't feel motivated today. With great power eventually comes great laziness.

Quoted: David Furnish on Madonna Receiving a Golden Globe

I think it was a fluke. When this happens you have to question the integrity of the awards. Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed be a presenter? Can you sing Madonna’s song? Can you hum it? It’s a song nobody has heard, from a film few have seen. The award should have gone to Mary J. Blige or Elton. I like Madonna’s music, but not her movies. She should stick to what she is good at.
– Elton John’s husband David Furnish after Madonna’s movie, “Masterpiece” won the Golden Globe for best original song over Elton’s movie, “Hello Hello.” (via Towerload)

Must Watch: Lionel Richie’s 'Hello' Re-Created with Movies

Seriously?  Who has time to do these videos? LMAO.  Remember that video I posted last week of President Obama singing Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"?
Well... we're back for round two.  And this time it's Lionel Richie's "Hello" re-created with movie clips.  Check it out, it's pretty darn funny, but cool nonetheless.  Thanks for sharing Sean Hodges!

Back In The Day - Lego circa 1989

Wow, seeing this today really brought back memories.  Oh, how I loved my Legos, and I had this very box too!  I truly miss being a child.  Yes, I've grown wiser over the years, but it would be nice to go back in time just for a moment.

President Obama's Birthday Message to Betty White

I absolutely loved this when I saw it on Hardball last night. It was downright hilarious.  As most of you know by now, Betty White turned 90 yesterday.  The iconic "Golden Girl" celebrity was given a birthday wish from our President.  Check it out.  It's pretty funny.

If The World Were A Village of 100 People: Issue No. 20 - Energy

Wow, I have completed the series!   This is the 20th and final poster of my series "If The World Were A Village of 100 People".

For the past 20 weeks I have been blogging about these posters designed by Toby Ng, where he took statistics based on the spread of the population in the world today and translated those statistics into a town of 100 people.  So you'd ask yourself, "What if the world were a village of 100 people?" And these posters would answer that question in a much more simpler way.

In my humble opinion I think these posters were a great educational tool.  And they would be great to share with your kids or a classroom.

If you missed any of the previous issues, click here or on each individual poster below.

Loving One Another - Issue No. 006

Back To The Real World

Ryan and I took a mini-winter break to the flatlands of South Texas near Corpus Christi, and visited my family over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend.  It was a much needed break, and so well worth it.  We arrived at my Mom and Dad's around 4 in the afternoon on Saturday and stayed until Monday afternoon.  We didn't get home until 5:45 PM, yesterday.

On Saturday, my mother was making Tamales when we walked in.  For those who have made them before, you know it takes a long, long time to prepare and cook them.  She worked on these for two whole days, in between spending time with us children, and our niece.

After posting a picture on Facebook of my mom and a huge pile of tamales she had just finished cooking, everyone started commenting that they were coming over. So we did end up visiting with old friends and family from our younger years.  It was nice.

Other than the disappointing loss by the Texans on Sunday afternoon, everything else was great.  My sister dressed up our niece in a Texans Cheerleader outfit Ryan and I had bought her for the game, and she looked absolutely stunning. LOL.  She wore it for her uncles despite the backlash she would receive from her Dallas and Eagle fans.  My sister and brother-in-law Luther are Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles fans respectfully.

We didn't get to see Luther until late Sunday, as he was deep sea fishing with his Dad.  They caught 70 lbs of fish!

On Monday (yesterday), Mom also made a huge breakfast for us. She made fresh homemade tortillas, refried beans, papas fritas (fried potatoes), bacon, sausage, and Eggs.  Luther, Vicky and Lily also came over to have breakfast with us before we left.  Overall we had a great time and appreciated all that my mom did for us.  I will definitely have to do something for her, or send her something for all the hard work she went through.  Regardless if she says it makes her happy doing it for her babies.

I'm glad to be back and will blog as time permits.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pre-scheduled blogs that will post automatically. So please stay tuned...

Are People Really This Stupid? Issue No. 18 - Divorce Your Spouse If They Get Alzheimer's

You think I'm kidding?  It's true!  Some wacko wrote a letter asking Pat Robertson for advice on his 700 Club show last year.  In the letter, a man said he was writing on behalf of a friend (don't we all), whose wife had Alzheimer's and no longer knows who he is.  So what does this God-fearing Christian man say?
"I know it sounds cruel, but if he's going to do something, he should divorce her and start all over again, but make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her."
Are you fucking serious? If there is one thing I learned from the Bible and my Christian upbringing was to love your spouse unconditionally. I know for a fact that if something happened to Ryan I would be there with him until the very end, or vice versa.  But here is a religious man who speaks to millions and millions of people around the world, who listen to his advice, and faithfully admire him.  How is this possible?  Are people really this stupid?

The Read Bookshelf

In the near future when Ryan and I buy our dream house, I would so love to do this if we had a library or something.  I love it.

The Groom and The Bieber Dance

The video below was sweet.  It's a choreographed dance performed by the groom, Brian and his minions, in front of his new wife, Emily.

So congratulations Emily, you just married a man who secretly loves to sing and dance Justin Bieber songs with his friends. :-)

What Would A Child’s Drawing Look Like If It Were Painted Realistically?

Being that I love art, artists and anything visually aesthetic, I had to share the following images with you.  In response to the question above, illustrator Dave DeVries answers that simple question for you in his own words:
"It began at the Jersey Shore in 1998, where my niece Jessica often filled my sketchbook with doodles. While I stared at them, I wondered if color, texture and shading could be applied for a 3D effect. As a painter, I made cartoons look three dimensional every day for the likes of Marvel and DC comics, so why couldn’t I apply those same techniques to a kid’s drawing? That was it… no research, no years of toil, just the curiosity of seeing Jessica’s drawings come to life.” He describes the process as follows: “I project a child’s drawing with an opaque projector, faithfully tracing each line. Applying a combination of logic and instinct, I then paint the image as realistically as I can.”
Here are a few images from his gallery.  Feel free to check out the rest here.
I have organized my blogs with 3 days worth of postings, so if you wish to continue reading the days before that, and so forth and so forth, you can click the "Older Posts" button /\ /\ /\ right /\ up there.
