It's Purely Animal - Issue No. 16 - Watch Dunder Grow
Dunder is a German Shepard who turned 1 year old this month. His owner took pictures of him over a span of 44 weeks, sitting and playing in the same location. He then produced this 40-second video of his progression from a puppy to an adult. Enjoy!

Movies to Watch: Shark Night 3D
As with most teen flicks, the boys are dressed in shorts, shirtless, and with girls prancing around half-naked. I'm not complaining, they're hot. :-)
This is the last time I go to Louisiana, oh wait... I haven't been. In either case, the movie has to do with some crazy dude who fills a lake with a butt-load of hungry sharks, and uses the hotties as test subjects. Really? Really? Okay, I know Hollywood is having a difficult time being creative (with their remakes and all), but JAWS happened over 30 years ago and it still beats the crap out of this.
Anyway here's the deal:
Arriving by boat at her family's Louisiana lake island cabin, Sara (Sara Paxton) and her friends quickly strip down to their swimsuits for a weekend of fun in the sun. But when star football player Malik (Sinqua Walls) stumbles from the salt-water lake with his arm torn off, the party mood quickly evaporates. Assuming the injury was caused by a freak wake-boarding accident, the group realizes they have to get Malik to a hospital on the other side of the lake, and fast. But as they set out in a tiny speedboat, the college friends discover the lake has been stocked with hundreds of massive, flesh-eating sharks! Now I'm truly excited! Check out the trailer below:

Google Goes Gaga for Gaga
It premiered on Saturday Night Live on May 21st, and if you watched the season finale of Glee last night you may have noticed it during a commercial break. The ad showcases Lady Gaga and her new song, "Edge of Glory."
When covers of her song came up on YouTube shortly after it's release on May 8th, Gaga asked her little monsters for more videos to shoot in the commercial, and in less than 10 days the ad aired.
Google Chrome refers to the ad as a short film, as it is nearly 2 minutes long.

If you missed it, or you simply want to see it again, you can view the awe-inspiring commercial right here:This film celebrates Lady Gaga's special and unmediated relationship with her fans, the Little Monsters. The making of this film is a demonstration of the power of the web in its own right. The entire project, beginning with Lady Gaga's shoot in NYC on May 8th, to shipping materials to the television networks for air, took 10 days. Within hours of the release of her new single "Edge of Glory" on May 9th, fans began uploading videos on YouTube, making the song their own by dancing to it, singing it and playing it on all kinds of instruments. Lady Gaga then posted a message on her website asking for more videos to be used in the film project. Fans responded within minutes and uploaded hundreds more videos. Back in the editing room, in real time as fan videos streamed in, editors were putting them into the film. The film was completed on May 18th in time to air during Lady Gaga's performance on the season finale of Saturday Night Live, and to also live on the web.

From Russia With Love
Andrei Vishnyakov took Russian model Anatoli Tolik to a lush forest and photographed him while he splashed around in a lake.
The resulting images are clearly influenced by the work of Abercrombie & Fitch's Bruce Weber, but Vishnyakov’s vision has a bit more bite, don't you think?

What a Hot Mess: Little Girl Eats Her Face
Okay, so the little girl doesn't exactly eat her face, but why do I find the video extremely disturbing? I'm watching this now, and never will again - it's creepier than the TMNT art I posted earlier. Lord knows I'll have nightmares about this child. She reminded me of Freddy Krueger's fucked up face or Hannibal Lecter on crack. Did her parents tape this? Where they hell are they? Arrest them! Just sayn'

What If The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Were Real?
Who remembers the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? If you were a kid in the 80's and 90's, you vividly remember Shredder, Splinter, Rocksteady, and Bebop. But what if they were real?
Fellow blogger and artist, Dave Rapoza has given the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a whole new look, and they're downright creepy, but amazing at the same time. He is selling prints of his awesome work on his website, and I can see why. The quality and fine detail of his work is stunningly beautiful! He should definitely push this to movie producers. Hell, we all know Hollywood has run out of ideas.

We R Who We R
If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a fan of Ryan James Yezak's work, and I absolutely love his music video parodies. The last one I posted was a parody to Rihanna's "Only Girl In The World".
The aforementioned parody titled, "Only Gay In The World" premiered earlier this month, and I thought it was utterly fabulous! In the video below, Ryan features Kesha's dancing hit, "We R Who We R," which he posted late last year. In it, you have guys kissing, superheros prancing, a sexy teacher teaching students that homosexuality is a sin, and lots, and lots of hot guys dancing. I mean, what more could you ask for?

The World's Most Dangerous Animals - The Mosquito
If you're thinking it's Panthers, Cheetahs, and Killer Whales, you're wrong. Sure these beasts will tear human flesh straight off the bone, but an attack by one of these is highly unlikely. Now, the mosquito on the other hand, is a different story. Mosquitoes are currently considered the planet's most dangerous creature, because it has the ability to spread diseases like malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever and the West Nile virus. And we all know how annoying they can be, they develop shortly after a rainstorm, and wherever standing water exists. Even if it doesn't rain, if you have a bucket of water laying around the backyard, they will appear. Adults live 4-8 weeks!Responsible for: An estimated 2-3 million fatalities a year.
Hangs out in: Worldwide; harmful in Africa, Asia and North America.
Method of dispatch: Using serrated mouth parts, female mosquitoes pierce the skin and inject saliva containing a thinning agent to liquidise the blood. Most people won’t know that they have been bitten until the immune system reacts, resulting in red, itchy bumps that continue to itch for days after the initial bite.
Read More About It HereUseful avoidance techniques: Mosquito nets treated with DDT are the most effective way to keep them at bay, as well as combative sprays and treatments that can be applied directly to the skin. Wear light-coloured, long clothes in the evening. If travelling to malaria zones, ensure that you take your full course of tablets before, during and after your stay.

Music Video Flashback - 1988
Ahhh. The memories! So do you have the right stuff or no?
Growing up I was a huge fan of The New Kids on The Block.
My family didn't know I was secretly "in love" with one of the boys, Joey McIntyre, but I vividly remember my sister and I jamming to this video. If I recall, my sister even had a NKOTB shirt. LOL

Art In The Most Fascinating Form
I found these photos by photographer Henry VIII quite fascinating.
Am I being biased when it comes to older folks re-enacting scenes from world history? If you remember, I had written a post back in April titled "Art In The Most Despicable Form," and I wasn't kind to the photographer. In fact, I was rather upset and angry at the photographer for using children as props for his "iconic moments in history" photos. What do you think? Is it any different if it were old people re-enacting the scenes?
How many iconic moments in history do you recognize without looking at the answers.

True Texans With Big Hearts Do Exist... (Video)
I'm honestly going to say this video brought me to tears. As you all know by now, my partner and I are from Texas - the reddest of the Red States, one of the most conservative states in our union. This is a state which has the strictest laws against gays in this country, a state where any business can refuse service to my partner and I. But if ever a statement were right, this is the right time to say it; The majority of Texans DO have a big heart.
On Friday, May 20th, ABC Primetime’s “What Would You Do?” covered an important, and controversial topic in the small, conservative Texas town of Farmer's Branch. The clip below took place inside Norma's Cafe. The purpose of the segment was to see what customers would do if a waitress started to vocalize her feelings towards a gay couple raising children. The waitress, who's an actress, begins to belittle and berate the gay couple (who are also actresses) for being gay, and raising children. What comes next, is what's surprising. Keep in mind, this town is home to a 4 year Bible College - Dallas Christian College.

Yes, the people who make our state laws, and the people who vote for them reflect the same beliefs the waitress portrayed in this video - hateful, judgemental, and vengeful people. Do these type of people reside in our families? Yes, they do. Do we work with them? Yes, we do. Do we love them? Yes, we do. But will we grow to be like them? No, we wont!
Mind-Boggling News: Carrie Gets A Makeover
Why does Hollywood continue to re-make movies? Do they not have any other book adaptations for us to fantasize about? Are they out of superheros to save us from doom? Seriously? Lindsay Lohan as Carrie? Are you kidding me?
Okay, I just bombarded this post with many questions, but I honestly have them. The original movie was released in 1976 - the year my sister, Victoria was born, and to think my niece, Liliana will be born during the remake of this atrocity is mind-boggling to me.
According to Entertainment Weekly:

According to Entertainment Weekly:
Thirty-five years after Stephen King’s first best-seller roared into theaters and scared a generation of prom-going teens, MGM and Screen Gems have hired playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to resurrect Carrie with a more faithful adaptation of King’s novel, according to Deadline. But King, who famously disapproved of Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining, tells EW he still has a soft spot for Brian De Palma’s original film: “I’ve heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not Casablanca, or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White… hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg.”And TMZ also reports that the Lohan is very interested in playing the part.
Stephen King mentioned Lindsay Lohan by name as a possible star in a remake of the classic film “Carrie” — and sources close to Lindsay tell us … she’d jump at the chance to play the iconic role … Sources close to Lindsay tell TMZ … she said she was “stoked” when she heard King mention her name and thinks working with King “would be epic.” We’re told Lindsay is a big fan of King’s work and, if the opportunity presented itself, she’d love to land a role in the upcoming adaption of his famous book, “The Dark Tower.”I don't know about you, but I think they should leave well-enough alone. The original Carrie, starring Sissy Spacek is a classic! Look at the mess they created with the remake of "The Amityville Horror." Oh okay, it had Ryan Reynolds in it, BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT! Isn't it bad enough they're re-making The Neverending Story?!?!?! What Blasphemy!
Polio Heading Towards Extinction!
This is so darn amazing. If any of you know about polio and it's history, it was one of the most dreaded diseases of the 20th century - it killed thousands worldwide. Our own 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 39. It may be a shock to some of you, but yes, I know my presidential history. Hell, I just finished watching my History Channel DVD collection of The Presidents, and I loved it. President Roosevelt hid his paralysis from the American public through the 12 years of his presidency, hence the reason everyone was shocked when the president died in 1945 - a few months after he was inaugurated to an unprecedented 4th term in office.
The disease was a horrible one, and children were dying by the thousands up until the 1950's. A race went on for years to find a treatment, and eventually one was - by American medical researcher and virologist, Jonas Salk. Since that time, countries have been eradicating the disease at an astronomical level, and this is why the chart down below is so darn amazing. In 1988 there were still 125 countries where polio had never been stopped. But by the year 2000, only 20 countries still had the disease, and by 2010 only 4 countries, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, and Pakistan had reports of 240 cases at most. This is astonishing! Within a year or two we could see the complete eradication of a disease that affected millions worldwide!
Now, let's hope and pray we can accomplish this with countless of other diseases as well.

Movies to Watch: Green With Envy
It's been 12 years since we last saw them...
12 years since we last heard from them...
and...
12 years since they arrived from space...
and just when you think they're long gone...
If you went to see Pirates of the Carribean over the weekend, you may have caught a trailer titled, "Green With Envy." It was a fake movie trailer created by Disney to promote their new movie, "The Muppets."
"The Muppets" return to the big screen on Thanksgiving Day, and it seems like it's going to be a real kid pleaser. Personally, I think adults and children will enjoy it.
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, US, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10-million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, "The Muppets" hits the big screen November 23, 2011.The film will be accompanied by a brand-new short film featuring Pixar's Toy Story characters.

Who Increased The Debt?
If you vote for the wrong guy, you can't blame anyone, but yourself. Seriously. The previous president invaded two countries, causing thousands of American lives and trillions of money for both wars, did you honestly think the surplus that Clinton left Bush would have lasted? We have a revenue problem folks. If we don't have revenue, we will never get out of debt. Instead, Republicans want to cut spending by cutting medicare and social security - programs both our parents and grandparents need. How 'bout getting rid of the Bush tax cuts, taxing people who make over $250,000 a year, and getting rid of subsidies for these huge-ass companies. This creates revenue! We have a revenue problem folks!
