Hotels To Stay In Before You Die

Almost everyone you talk to will tell you they want to take trip, visit a certain country, or stay in a hotel they've never been in before they meet the big man in the sky.  They may even want to complete or  try something they've never had a chance to in life.

I came across these fascinating images of hotels that Ryan and I would like to try if we had the chance.  Most definitely the Underwater Hotel and Treehouse Hotel. I think those would be the most fun.

Movies to Watch - Maybe: The Lucky One

What the hell am I talking about?  I know that Ryan and I will watch this sappy ass movie.

There's pros and cons to watching this movie like knowing that it stars the lovely Zac Efron, whose managed to bulk up and look manly for the movie, but unfortunately for him, still acts like Troy Bolton from High School Musical.

Second, the boy is trying too hard to emulate Leonardo DiCaprio and we all know how that ended up this week for the A+ movie star - another year with no Oscar nomination.

And third if your like us, and cried during the movies "The Notebook" and "Dear John", you're going to absolutely love this one.

The "Lucky One" which also stars Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner is about a Marine who travels to North Carolina after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war.

Oh Pablo!

Instinct Magazine is the longest ongoing subscription I've ever had aside from Out Magazine.

I've had my Instinct subscription since 1997, and I'll tell you what, I've seen some really sexy models cover the spread of this magazine, but the February issue I received yesterday has definitely cut the cake.

Aye, Aye, Aye, Pablo Hernandez.  Where have you been all our lives? :-)

Gabby, It Does Get Better - You Will Get Better

On Sunday afternoon, Gabrielle Giffords released a video statement to her constituents, Congress and to America.  I have finally come around to blogging about it today.

To think that a year ago this week, this lovely woman was shot down in front of hundreds of people, along with the killing of innocent bystanders and supporters of her campaign.  And to know she managed to survive a gunshot to the head is a miracle in itself.

Our city of Houston played a major role in her recovery, and continues to play a part in her rehabilitation.  We've watched her recover month after month, releasing pictures in June and attending a joint session of congress in the fall.  But it's this video that will make your heart melt.  In it she says, "I don't remember much from that horrible day, but I will never forget the trust you placed in me to be your voice," Giffords said. "I will return, and we will work together for Arizona and this great country."

Congresswoman Giffords resigned yesterday afternoon.

I Quote That - Dog's Best Friend

I never thought of it this way, but whoa, it's so damn true!

What's your Blues name? Use this chart to help you find out yours. Mine is Sleepy Dog Brown. LOL.

Stop Texting While Walking!

While not as graphic as the texting while driving video I posted last year, it gets the message across.
Stop texting while walking!!! If you're going to text and walk, sit your ass down on a bench, or stand up against a wall.  Geez, when are you folks going to listen.

Honestly, I never thought of it as a big deal, but now that I saw this PSA I can see how it can be rude.  Hence, the reason you shouldn't text while someone is talking to you.  Always give them your undivided attention.  Furthermore, what's going to happen when you get run over?

Australia's Wonder Woman

Really?  Here in the U.S. we can't find a Wonder Woman who's outfit is perfect from the "get-go" and the U.K. manages to do it on the first try.  We can't find an actress good enough as Lynda Carter or beautiful enough to compare, and Australia has one in Miranda Kerr.   Really America?  What the hell is wrong with this country?  We want our Wonder Woman movie and new television series dammit!

Hey Baby Girl - The Remix

If things couldn't get any crazier or funnier. OMG, this was hilarious, but even more creepy.  I'm sorry Briona, but if you do exist (which I'm hoping you don't), and you're dating this guy, you need to run. RUN!! I'm telling you!

Remember the video I posted last week - the one where a strange boy professes his undying love for Briona?  Well if you haven't seen the original, see it here and then you can watch this Remix version.

Doctor Doom's Armor

For all you comic geeks, I thought you'd like this post.  It's an excellent infograph of Dr. Doom's Body Armor.  I find it quite fascinating actually.

Not sure who is Dr. Doom? Read here.

Quoted: David Grohl from the Foo Fighters on Trading Downloaded Music

I think it’s a good idea because it’s people trading music. It has nothing to do with industry or finance, it’s just people that want music and it’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the same as someone turning on the fucking radio, it’s the same as someone putting a cassette in a cassette deck when the BBC plays a special radio session. I don’t think it’s a crime, it’s been going on for years. It’s the same as people making tapes for each other. The industry is more threatened by it because it’s the worldwide web and it’s the broader scope of trading, but I don’t think it’s such a fucking horrible thing. The first thing we should do is get all the fucking millionaires to shut their mouths, and stop bitching about the twenty five cents a time they’re losing.

OMG Hilarious! - Murder

Must Watch... You Will Definitely Share This...

I was reading my news feed on Facebook yesterday afternoon and saw a video my friend Brett Daminski posted on his wall, and I'm not gonna lie, I got emotional towards the middle and towards the end of the video.
If it's one video you will want to share over and over again, it will be this one.  It's true.  We take so much for granted in our lives, that we never realize how much it would have meant if we had given that homeless guy just 25 cents or that lawn mower man a bottle of water.

There's a neighbor across mine and Ryan's street named Mary, who comes over from time to time asking if I could help her with her A/C repairs up in the attic, check her car because it won't start, or fix her fence when it's broken.  She's in her late 60's, and using her cane she slowly walks over to our house asking for help.  And in all the times I've helped her I knew it made a difference in her life as well as mine. Ryan and I came over one weekend and planted a Crape Myrtle in her yard, because she said anything she ever planted always died.  So we went and got her something that was tolerant to Texas weather, and now that Myrtle blooms every year.  She's not family, and technically she's not a friend, but she's a human being, and we love her regardless.

Feel free to share this video with all your friends, family and anyone you love for that matter, preferably with this blog, because it's important that people read why I posted it.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm... Over 5 Million Dollars in 30 Days!

I'm not joking.  If you take a penny and double it, and then keep doubling it everyday for thirty days, you will wind up with over five million dollars.

I posted this on Facebook two years ago and folks just didn't want to believe me, but it's the God honest truth!  Start counting your pennies.

What a Hot Mess: Angel's No Angel

You gotta give Maury Povich some points for consistency. If he's not terrifying the bejeezus out of his phobic guests or keeping desperate couples on pins and needles trying to figure out who the baby daddy is, he's showcasing ninth graders with sexual habits that would make a hooker blush. The question is, who's trashier — Maury or poor Angel?

Honestly, I didn't know which of my segments to place this under.  Should I have placed it under "The Woes of Being a Bad Parent" or on this one, "What a Hot Mess"?

I didn't want to blame the parent for her daughter being this way, because I've seen caring, loving, nurturing parents who have raised their kids exceptionally well, and yet they turn out to be monsters on their own.  I've seen parents where they let their kid get away with anything, and they turned out to be scholars and geniuses when they got older.  And I've also seen parents who could care less about their child, and they turned out just like them, worthless with no future.

So I went with the hot mess, because there's no question about it, Angel is one - HOT - MESS!

A Happy Chevy Grad - Superbowl Winning Commercial

Because we all know America's Team is out of the playoffs.  The Texans handed the Ravens a win, who in turn lost to the Patriots - a team nobody really cares about.  And well, nobody can really stand the Giants, so what's the point?

Commercials!  You know everybody watches the Superbowl for the commercials.  It will be the perfect time to DVR and fast forward through the entire game. LOL.

Here's Zack Borst's winning entry to Chevrolet's Route66 competition chevroletroute66.com. This Chevy ad will appear during Super Bowl XLVI.  Check it out, it's pretty darn funny.

Are People Really This Stupid? Issue No. 19 - Please Keep Your Pets Inside!

Ken Aden
If you're a Democrat, more than likely you're going to have some *cough*publican come over and do something very, very bad to your family pet.

Ken Aden, a Democratic congressional candidate from Arkansas informed the Blue Arkansas that when he got home last night, he got "the most chilling phone call" he'd ever received.  He told police that his Campaign Manager, Jake Burris and his four kids had returned home after the long weekend when one of his children found their family cat on the porch -  SLAUGHTERED!

According to Aden's campaign the cat "had one side of its head bashed in to the point the cat's eyeball was barely hanging from its socket." and the word "LIBERAL" written across its side.
The article goes on to say...
Both Ken and Jake though made it clear that they weren’t going to back down on the campaign trail, both agreeing that caving to this kind of behavior would only make things worse. - Blue Arkansas

Things We Can Do To Save The Environment - Issue No. 01: Turn Food Into Fuel

Corn is the first topic in my new weekly blog, "Things We Can Do To Save The Environment".

Giving credit to TIME,  I'd like to thank them for showing us the many ways we can meet these goals of saving our environment.  And yes, even one person can make a difference.

The Global Warming Survival Guide

1. Turn Food Into Fuel

Are corn husks better than corn for producing energy? Ethanol is the alternative fuel that could finally wean the U.S. from its expensive oil habit and in turn prevent the millions of tons of carbon emissions that go with it. The Department of Energy has doubled its 2005 commitment to funding research into biofuels—any non-petroleum fuel source, including corn, soybean, switchgrass, municipal waste and (ick) used cooking oil. Already, half of the nearly 11 billion bushels of corn produced each year is turned into ethanol, and most new cars are capable of running on E10 (10% ethanol and 90% gas).

Yet the eco-friendly fuel is beginning to look less chummy of late. Some of the 114 ethanol plants in the U.S. use natural gas and, yes, even coal to run the processors. And ethanol has to be trucked. Existing gas pipelines can't carry it because it corrodes iron. Then there are the economics. Producers depend on federal subsidies, and increasing demand for corn as fuel means the kernels keep getting pricier.

That's why researchers are prospecting for more alternatives, preferably ones that don't rely on food crops or a 51 cents-per-gallon tax break. Municipal waste, wood pulp and leftover grain and corn husks are all quite attractive; they can produce something called cellulosic ethanol, which contains more energy than corn. But they don't give up their bounty easily, so for now they're more expensive than corn-based ethanol to produce. Undeterred, researchers at several cellulosic-ethanol plants are developing innovative enzyme concoctions and heating methods to make the process more economic. Nothing like haste to make something out of waste.

Make sure to follow this blog every Tuesday for a new issue of Things We Can Do To Save The Environment.  Each issue is thought-provoking, informative and may hold the key to saving your children and grandchildren's future

The Woes of Being a Bad Parent - One Child Left Behind

So on a snowy winter day, a momma is pulling her child on a stroller (pulling, not pushing), when she rushes to cross the street.  Except, momma forgot one important thing, the child she left behind.

All I can say is, "thank God a patrol car with a camera beeped her ass". Geezus. The Woes of Being a Bad Parent!  And yes, she's a bad parent for not buckling that child in.

Laugh of the Day: Slow Jerkin'

I'm sorry, but this has got to be be one of the most hilarious videos I have seen in a very long time.  We all know how office politics plays out.  We go to the kitchen, stand by the water cooler and start talking about the weekend, the partying, women, guys, and gossip about our boss.  But sometimes, some people don't have time to listen to it, or don't want any part of it, so they do a small jerk of the hand and blow it off.  Well not for Darren, he doesn't take being blown off lightly.

OMG, this is absolutely hilarious!  Prepare yourself.

19 Debates - 4 Republicans Left

By this Thursday, there will have been an unprecedented 19 Republican debates with a probable 10 more scheduled before they pick a bozo as their nominee.  I mean, you can call us geeks, but Ryan and I watch these hypocrites debate each other twice a week instead of sitting down watching American Idol.  I pop some popcorn, grab a sour pickle, and pour me some soda before it all starts.  It's comedy at it's best!

Actually it's must-see TV.  This is the first time in American History where so many Americans have tuned in to watch the debates, almost 5-6 million a night.  Hence, the reason they continue having them.  The typography snapshot above, courtesy of "I Love Charts" gives you an idea of what's been brought up during the debates.  As always, I will keep you posted on the current political climate. :-)

Laser Pointer Hack!

I had one growing up.  Oh, wait, I lied.  I had one when I was in college. LOL.  A laser pointer.  I loved those little contraptions.  If you never had one, something is definitely wrong with you. Of course you never want to point into someone's eyes for fear of blinding them, but pets love them!  Just shine the laser over their heads, on the wall, running it along the floor onto the couch and they will bark to their hearts content.  There's nothing like watching your pet chase a little red light they will never get a hold of.

Well now there's a super master hacker who can hack into this thing and super charge it.  Here are the step-by-step instructions:

80 Mayors - One Purpose - Marriage Equality

The video your about to see makes me proud to be an American, proud to be a Texan, and proud to be Gay.  It not only shows the amount of strength, love and conviction these mayors have set forth to accomplish.  But their support and compassion makes all the difference in the world.

I love my Ryan, he is the epitome of perfection in my eyes.  My love for him and what we do with our home, our family and our future is ours and ours alone - not yours.  All we want is to be treated fairly, just like you, and everyone else.

Last Friday, 80 mayors from across the United States stood alongside those of New York (Michael Bloomberg), Boston (Thomas M. Menino), Houston (Annise Parker), San Diego (Jerry Sanders) and Los Angelese (Antonio Villaraigosa) as the five mayors of five great cities released a statement:

Hedda Lettuce Takes on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 Contestants

Here's a little something for all you RuPaul Drag Race fans! It's a Monday, so I need to make you laugh.  Now, I'm sure that all of you know who Hedda Lettuce is?  Right?
If you don't - SHAME ON YOU! THAT'S HYPOCRISY!!!

Known as the The Queen of Green, she is one of the most popular drag queens around!  I would love to continue writing more about her, but you can read more about her at heddalettuce.com.  For now, I want to post this video where she gives her take on the season 4 contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race.  It's an absolute hoot.

Is it me, or are this year's drag queens a hot mess?  I don't think any of them match up to the previous drag race queens.

Documentaries To Watch: The Bully Project

If you don't want to read any of what I have to say, at least view the trailer down below.

Sometimes I just want to go back to a school, ANY school, and be some kind of instructor, teacher, counselor, or monitor that just watches out for these kids. I can see how spotting every bullying situation could be difficult for teachers and administrators alike, but at the same time I was harassed for years consistently and not once, NOT ONCE, did any teacher or administrator do a fucking thing about it.  Until my mom forced them to.
Over a period of four years, 5-8 grade, at lunch, in class, in the locker room, at physical education, in the halls.... there wasn't a single place except maybe the bathroom where I wasn't tormented. This behavior in school will never stop until something is done. Now that I think about it, only you can stop someone from bullying another person when you witness it in action. Trying to handle it through force or punishment isn't possible. Only through educating the students as early as kindergarten on why bullying is wrong and hurtful will be the only way to stop all this pain.

These kids need to be taught how horrible it can feel to be on the other end of the jokes, harassment and ridicule, but also learn how easy and misguided one can be to join in on the fun - taking part without realizing the damage they have done.

Teach them the power of words and how much more of an impact they can sometimes be than a fist to the face. Words can stop bullying and create new friends, yet still have the ability to cause unimaginable pain depending on how they're used.

Show them how being smart or small or different or gay is not the equivalent to being a freak, something wrong or a very bad thing. Being unique is a gift. It's special because you're not like everyone else. You're you, and you're great just for being who you are. It's a message that isn't shared enough today.

But no matter what is done in the schools to teach our kids to be kind to each other, as long as they continue to see horrible examples of bigotry, hate and abuse set by our politicians, pastors and parents, there will never be an end to the suffering and fear some kids face every day they go to school. This can be changed. It can no longer be accepted as a rite of passage or child's play, and to anyone out there that would dare call the protection of a gay child from anti-gay rhetoric "freedom of religion" or "anti-Christian bigotry"...... to hell with you.

I know this is a very inappropriate stance to take and is the absolute worst way to try and bring all people together to stop this epidemic....but seriously...to hell with you! Open your mind, your heart and your eyes and see that these kids are dying right in front of us. They are innocent and have done nothing to deserve this, but when you hide behind your religious beliefs to cloak your hatred and bigotry you are the bullies. You are the instigators. You are the cause of this pain and suffering that no loving God would condone, and you are an accessory to murder if you do not change your words and actions that have farther reaching consequences then you could ever imagine. Stop worrying about the life of an unborn fetus and start caring about the child that cries himself to sleep every night because he knows he's different, he knows he can't change, and all he wants is the torture and pain to stop so that he can truly be loved just the way he is. Will you love him for who he is or condemn him for being a sinner? What would Jesus really do.

We all have the power to stop this ongoing tragedy. Whether it be taking action to enact anti-bullying laws, speaking to your school administrators or simply having a conversation with your child. I beg all of you to do something, anything, to try and attempt to eradicate this evil that has been going on in our schools for way too long. I can't say this enough but these kids are dying, and unless we act, more will continue to have their lives cut short by this catastrophe that is bullying. Don't be the parent standing over the grave of your 12 year old child. Don't be the school official that didn't intervene and say something. Don't be the person that talks about religious values when you can't even comprehend what they truly mean. Don't be a bully and don't be a bystander that does nothing. Be a hero. It's definitely not an easy task and it never will be, but someone has to do it. There is no Superman. There is only you and your ability to love and be kind to others, over an easy choice to hate. You have the power. Make the right decision. Stop bullying today.

Almost a year ago, my partner Peter posted this trailer on his blog, Blade 7184 that moved me beyond words, and it will finally be released on March 9, 2012.  Please watch it, it would mean a lot if you did.

2012 GM Advanced Tech Window

I'm starting to think there's really nothing one can't do.

General Motors has not implemented this innovative technology into their vehicles, but I'm sure you'll be seeing it in the near future.  As you will see in the video below, GM challenged Bezalel Academy graduate students from Israel to conceptualize new experiences for rear seat passengers. And this when the Windows of Opportunity Project was born.

It's actually pretty darn cool.  I wish this were around when I was a kid.  It sure would have kept me occupied during the 9 hour trip to grandma's house.  And it would've definitely kept me and my sister from fighting in the backseat so much, LOL.

I have organized my blogs with 3 days worth of postings, so if you wish to continue reading the days before that, and so forth and so forth, you can click the "Older Posts" button /\ /\ /\ right /\ up there.
