Christianity is about love.’ The debate resulted in a lot of threats and hate mail to people who agreed and disagreed with me. Happy Earth Day 2011

Over the years, Ryan and I have done our part by planting trees that will last for years to come, bought energy-efficient light bulbs for our entire home, and recycled as part of our community's efforts to preserve our beautiful land, but I learned a few things about Earth Day that I previously didn't know, like...
Earth Day was founded by Democratic Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin in 1970, after making a trip to Santa Barbara, California in 1969; He was so outraged by the devastation that he proposed a national teach-in on the environment to be observed by every university and campus in the U.S..  He felt the need for this teach-in was really important for the new generation approaching them.

In 2009, the United Nations designated April 22 International Mother Earth Day

Over 20 million people participated on Earth Day held on April 22, 1970, and is now observed by more than 500 million people worldwide, and several national governments in 175 countries.

Senator Nelson chose the date in order to maximize participation on college campuses for what he conceived as an "environmental teach-in". He determined the week of April 19–25 was the best bet as it did not fall during exams or spring breaks.  Moreover, it did not conflict with religious holidays such as Easter or Passover, and was late enough in spring to have decent weather. More students were likely to be in class, and there would be less competition with other mid-week events—so he chose Wednesday, April 22.
You can read more about this amazing holiday at the Earth Day Network and Wikipedia, which provided the wonderful information above; They do a really good job of covering it's history.  So check it out, it doesn't hurt to read more about the countless efforts millions of people around the world have made to help save Mother Earth.

Who Can Do It Better Than Britney Spears?

When our Military can do a Britney Spears video better than Britney Spears can, you know our men and women in uniform are doing something right.

Seriously though, Kudos to those guys and gals in Afghanistan who are doing their best to stay focused and survive those dreadful summers and those bitter winters; And if by singing Britney's song, "Hold It Against Me" can help them stay focused - then more power to them!

There is no greater honor in proving your love for America than by serving in our military.  I honor those who have served, and continue to do so every day, do you?

The Birther Question

Is it an issue? A couple of GOP hopefuls seem to think so.

Mind-Boggling News: National Hiring Day Consists of Running Over People

Remember when McDonald's announced two weeks ago that they were going to hold a National Hiring Day in order to fill 50,000 jobs at all it's restaurants?

Well... Ronald  is frowning, and it looks like Mr.McDonald   got more than he bargained for.  Now we wait and see what lawsuits will be popping-up out of this crazy-ass incident.  Even though McDonald's is indirectly involved, these bitches will somehow find a way to sue - mark. my. words.

On Tuesday, in "what was supposed to be an uplifting event to help boost the economy," two bitches went for each other's throats, probably because there wasn't enough "Bic Mac's secret sauce" on one of their burgers.  This shit is crazy - like for real.

One of the bitches ran over the store's owner, manager and several other people before driving off.

Wait... Was Yesterday A Holiday?

For all of you who called in yesterday thinking 420 was meant to be a holiday - it wasn't.  And if you have no idea what it stands for, I'll let About.com explain it for you.  *hint - it's not a bill, and it's not a police or penal code.

Others may not be so lucky...

Now, are you glad you didn't call in?

Mc Donald's New Oatmeal - Is It Really Healthy?

By now everyone has seen the new commercial from McDonald's featuring their new "Fruit & Maple" oatmeal, and it looks downright yummy doesn't it?  But what's in it?  Is it really healthy?

Well the website, Mother Nature Network did some investigating, and has provided some results.

Is McDonald's new 'Fruit and Maple Oatmeal' as cheap and healthy as old-school oats?

Keeping It Old Skool - Issue No. 6 - Tight-rolled Pants

Ahhh... talk about Keeping It Old Skool.   Tight-rolled pants were a huge rage back in the 1980's and early 1990's.  I'll be honest - I thought it was cool, and tried to incorporate this awesome fad with my school attire.  Granted, the hot jocks looked so much better than I did.  You know - the football, baseball, and soccer players?  I thought they looked hot sporting those tight rolled up pants - I'll spare you the details of my fantasies.

I love how Wikipedia describes it below, LOL.
"girls and boys would tight-roll the bottoms of their jeans or any pants that they wore. On full length pants tight rolling is performed by taking up the slack around the ankles at the hem of the pants, folding the extra material over and then rolling upwards 2 or 3 times over. A proper tight-roll should have the extra material folded inward across the lower shin. The use of safety pins was key to a good roll, but to the experienced tight roller they can be achieved without them. "

And yes, everyone did it - even the celebrities on television, like Zac Morris from Saved by the Bell.  I think every gay boy in America had a huge crush on him growing up.

I also found this hilarious instructional video on YouTube on how to sport those tight-rolled up pants.

Who knows?  You may find you like it; I have heard they're making a comeback.

Worst Persons of the Day with Keith Olbermann - 04/18/2011

As you may remember, the man pictured above was canned from MSNBC back in January.   Canned, framed, quit, either way I'm happy to report that Keith Olbermann has been back for sometime now, and until his new television show airs, he has been blogging from to time to time on his non-for-profit blog FOK News ChannelFOK translates to "Friends of Keith"

So let's start off with "Worst Persons of the Day" for April 18, 2011...

Gay Movies to Watch: Were The World Mine

If you could make anyone fall in love with anybody you desired, would you? And if said object of affection did happen to fall in love with you on account of (minor) interference with free-will, could you still call it love? An interesting dilemma indeed, yet one ultimately reserved to the realm of fantasy... in this case Were the World Mine protagonist Timothy's fantasy.

Ryan and I had the pleasure purchasing and watching this movie 2 years ago, and glad to say it's part of our DVD collection.  We've watched it countless times, and as you may have guessed, the scenes used in both these clips originate from Tom Gustafson's award winning film.

If you like gay movies and musicals, Were the World Mine is available on DVD and also can be directly downloaded using iTunes or Amazon's video-on-demand service.

All You Little Monsters Are Going To Hell - So Says This Real Teenage Monster

Honestly?  I don't even know where to start with this.  Where are the parents who raised this pathetic excuse for a child? Okay, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that.  I'm just sick and tired of 12 year old kids preaching to us, and everyone else for that matter, on how we are going to hell if we have sex, if we listen to Gaga, or if we're gay; Unless we're Bieber-believers, we're damned!

First, the little brat doesn't know anything about the story of Judas - she needs to go back to summer camp and read her Bible.  Second, the song is not a reflection of Gaga having sex with Jesus or Judas, it goes much deeper than that, like having to deal with a relationship she's currently in, and third, who is she to judge others on the merits of religion?

Plus....

The fake crying to make herself look like she's "ONE" with God, is beyond repentance.

I haven't blogged about the release of "Judas," because I really haven't had the time to analyze it, or better yet, give it a thorough cleansing.  I will probably ask Ryan to listen to the song, and give his take on it - since he's the bigger fan of the two.

Geez... the video below made my day ;-/

James Duke Mason Trailblazes His Way Through Hollywood

If you don't know who the Go-Go's were or don't know who Belinda Carlisle is, then I'm going to ask, WTF?  Sorry, but one can't go through life not knowing or listening to her music.  Belinda was the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's who became successful as a solo-artist several years later.  I was such huge fan of hers growing up and "came out" when her song, "Circle in The Sand" hit the airwaves.

As a matter of fact, she will be receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this August.
I find it ironic how I listened to her music when I was a teenager, and here I am writing about her 18 year old son, James Duke Mason.  James is also the son of Morgan Mason, who worked as Ronald Reagan's assistant in the early 1980's and the grandson of the late British actor James Mason.  He is currently attending California Lutheran University as a freshman student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, But his main love is acting, which is the main reason he moved to Los Angeles.  James has also worked as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives and volunteered for Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Democratic primaries.

True, James could pass for a gorgeous underwear model, but the main reason I'm writing about him, is because of his contributions to the LGBT community.  He has written a number of articles about his experience as a young gay person, participated in several roundtable discussions regarding LGBT youth, and recently created the Trailblazer Campaign, similar to the "It Gets Better" campaign which would help actors in Hollywood come out of the closet.  And we all know there are a lot of people in Hollywood who are gay, but are too afraid to come out.  "Coughs" Joe Jonas & Zac Efron - just kidding - That's wishful thinking on my part.

In the following video, James lets his viewers know what it was like growing up gay in high school, and lets them know he understands their pain and frustration, "It Gets Better," he tells them.  And after the jump there is another video explaining his Trailblazer campaign.

The Trailblazer Campaign...

Like the circle of life.... it's the circle of finding a job.

What's the real reason you can't find a job? Is it the fact you don't know how to present yourself during the interview, or is it not having the job - to give you the money - to purchase the gas - that takes you to the interview?

A Wonder Woman Update - Video Included

So is it a rumor if the president of NBC says something questionable?  Probably not.

We've already seen two previous versions of the costume Adrianne Palicki will be wearing as Wonder Woman, but our Amazon superhero could be sporting yet another costume - a 70's star-studded short similar to what Lynda Carter wore in the original series.   In a recent interview with TV Line, Robert Greenblatt took to defending David E. Kelley's remake of the famous superhero series, by saying  there could be a future "look" for Diana Prince.
"There was an initial outcry about the long pants - you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series]. But the shorts were always planned. They are actually used in the final confrontation when she beats Veronica Cale (played by Elizabeth Hurley)."
In other developing news, yesterday Lynda Carter appeared on the daytime talk show, The Talk, looking as beautiful as ever.  She revealed that she had been in talks with David E. Kelley and refused to confirm whether or not she would play a role in the remake.
'I've talked to David E. Kelley, who's a brilliant writer, a number of times and we're hoping to plan something,' she said. 'But I cannot reveal.'
Asked what she thought of the new Wonder Woman costume, Carter grinned,
'I like my costume the best of course. They're trying to update with the way we're all doing leggings now and skinny jeans. I think it's kind of trying to do that. David E. Kelley is full of surprises, so you never know what's going to happen. He's a brilliant guy.'

A Huge Shuttle Show Down - It's Texas vs. New York

Things are getting ugly between Houston, Texas lawmakers and their counterparts in New York City, New York.  The War of Words started Friday when Texas lawmakers introduced a bill that would strip New York City of the Space Shuttle Enterprise and give it to Houston, Texas.

New York city Congressman Charles Schumer released a snarly statement by saying, "When people from Paris, Beijing, Tokyo and Amsterdam start saying they want to go to Houston, maybe then they'll get a shuttle. I'd say to Texas, don't mess with New York,"  knowing full well Texas is famous for their quote, "Don't Mess With Texas," the slogan used during the 1990's to keep people from littering our Texas highways with trash, or garbage.

Texas Congressman Ted Poe then fired back, "whether Senator Schumer likes it or not, the Big Apple had nothing to do with NASA or the space shuttle program until Tuesday."  Which is true, New York never had anything to do with the space shuttle program, Houston has long been involved since the beginning of space exploration.

Seventeen congressmen and congresswomen wrote and signed the letter which reads in part, "We can find no logical explanation for this decision."

I'm really curious to see how far this issue will go.  Are we heading towards a huge Texas Showdown?  Because if it's one thing Republicans in Texas are good at, is sticking it to others.  So Democrat, Schumer better be prepared.

Land of the Lost: An Empty Ghost City Built For Millions

It must be nice to be a country with so much wealth; One can simply throw it away.

We can't complain - we helped make China who they are today -  we bought all their exported merchandise.

So imagine a city  built for 1 million people, but with no people living in it.  An Australian film crew recently made a trip to one of China's massive ghost towns built to boom the future economy and were surprised by what they found:
Vast new cities of apartments and shops are being built across China at a rate of ten a year, but they remain almost completely uninhabited ghost towns. It's all part of the government's efforts to keep the economy booming, and there are many people who would love to move in, but it's simply too expensive for most. Video journalist Adrian Brown wanders through malls of vacant shops, and roads lined with empty apartment buildings… 64 million apartments are said to be empty across the country and one of the few shop owners says he once didn't sell anything for four or five days. - Dateline
I found the video news footage rather intriguing - and fascinating.

A Special Tribute to Adele

The first time I heard of Adele, wasn't because I heard her singing, Chasing Pavements.  It was because I came across a video of a hot, shirtless, YouTuber named Brandon (pictured below), who was singing a cover of the same song.

But since the subject is about Adele, and not Brandon, I thought I would post two impressive music videos by Adele, and in doing so, apologize "in a sense" to a couple of friends.

This young lady has class, has a voice, and has a new fan.  It's not very often that I get turned on to a new artist, but Adele is the exception.  After giving my friends hell the other day over her music, I take back everything I ever said about the artist, I didn't know her.

I saw her video, "Rolling in the Deep," and was truly drawn to her words, her music, the person that is Adele.  She reminds me so much of Patsy Cline, another artist who's music transformed country music into one of the greatest establishments ever created.

And then I listened to "Someone Like you," which was performed Live in her home.  I've come to the conclusion that Adele is nothing, but pure magic in every sense of the word - She is a true artist.  I cried to this damn song.

The Bully Project Trailer

If you're reading this I want you to click on that picture above and read what I circled in Red.  If your child has to resort to posting videos on YouTube and make a similar statement, you're doing something wrong.

I have two short sentences for you - If you're a parent, you should know better.  If you're a bully, blame your parents.

I grew up being bullied by classmates.  I know how it feels to be made fun of, picked on, hit, kicked, spit on, laughed at, the list goes on.  I can't even count the number of times I contemplated suicide, and if you know me personally today, you would never have thought that.

You can also be bullied later in life as well. If you're in a relationship where your partner makes fun of you in front of other people, or mocks you for gaining weight, that's a bully.  If you make jokes about the person you love and then say, "I was just playing" - You're a bully.

"More than 18 million young people across the US will be bullied this year. This alarming documentary takes us into the disquieting day-to-day lives of five kids and their families over the course of a school year. Two families are left devastated by their sons' suicide, while one mother faces her 14-year-old daughter's incarceration after she threatens her bullies with a gun. Rare access to the Sioux City Community School District captures up close and disturbing 'on the ground' footage of bullying in classrooms, playgrounds, cafeterias, and school buses. Kids who are made into outcasts at school become the film's heroes as they defend their right to be different and courageously give testimony to the trauma and dangers of severe bullying. Sorry, It's Over

Everyone has gone through a break-up, right?  If you haven't then you're in for a rude awakening.

Everyone has had a bad date, right?  If you haven't I suggest you see a shrink.  LMAO, just sayin'.

For those who have been through break-ups, relationships, dates, whatever - you more than likely have heard the phrase, "sorry, it's over," or something close to it.

Here's a straight male's perspective...

Can't wait to hear the female's perspective on this, or better yet, the Gay perspective, LOL.  It would be fierce!

Space Shuttle Facts

Now that the space shuttle orbiter is retired, and the remaining ships are going to their "chosen" cities (cries foul), I thought I'd share this informative chart on our popular spaceship.

Both Challenger and Columbia encountered terrible disasters which happened during my lifetime.  Challenger exploded in 1986 while flying up into space, and Columbia fell apart over Texas during re-entry in 2003.

Delta Work for Adam Bouska

I have to say, that out of all the contestants on RuPaul's Drag Race this season, none of them stuck to me like glue, like Ms. Delta Work.  She simply didn't put up with any of the petty bullshit thrown at her, and she kind of reminded me of Debbie from Queer as Folk.

When she was kicked off the show several weeks ago, all of us were disappointed, but we picked up the pieces and moved on.  We are definitely looking forward to the finale in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, check out the great interview she recently had with The Seattle Gay Scene:

Delta Work, Where are you from?
Norwalk, California. Don’t you wish they all could be California girls?

When was your first time in drag and what did it feel like?
When I was 23, I was in a Madonna lip sync contest. I walked out on stage and fell completely on my ass. I felt like a complete idiot, but I got up and finished the damn thing. “Baptism by Fire”.

What makes you continue to perform and represent your community as a drag queen?
Performing, in a way, is like making your own music video or recreating a story, a time, and a place. Performing is also in many ways a commentary.

What was your first reaction when you heard the news on becoming a RPDR contestant?
I went CRAZY! I couldn’t see for a few hours and I lost my bowel control. It’s one hundred percent the highlight of my career, and I am so grateful.

How much tension was there in the hotel during the shooting of the show and were fremenies made?

In the hotel room, there is probably still tension there today. I always liked my time on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” as it is like going to band camp, but you don’t always make friends with everyone.

If you learned something from this show, what would that be?
You can’t convince others of your fierceness if you can’t convince yourself.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you absolutely need with you in order to survive?
Just Two: Music and Men!

Pick one – Lady Gaga or Cher?
Billie Holiday!

Sandwich In A Can?

Just when you think you've seen it all, they create Sandwiches in a can!  I swear, I thought I had seen it all.

I Quote That - Music Speaks

I was having dinner with our friends the other night and the topic of music came up, which often does.  I mean really, we're "family," what do you expect? LOL.

Wait, wait, wait... let me start over.

We were actually talking about tattoos, when one of our friends mentions that he wants to have Hans Christian Andersen's quote, "Where words fail, music speaks," printed on his arm, chest, groin or whatever - I don't remember.  The point is... it made no fucking sense.

So I felt I was a little cruel and decided to do some research on the author of this famous quote.  Honestly the quote is beautiful, but it has been used a lot... I mean... a lot. Every musician probably has the tattoo printed on their ass - I prefer to be unique.

But.... I now understood what my friends were trying to convey to me that evening. They were were trying to explain that if you can't say something, you let music explain how you feel.  Like if your trying to say you love someone, but you don't neccessarily have the courage to tell them - you'll let them listen to a song - the music will explain it for them.
